it really keeps sending me insane that spn established cas is an ambiguous disorders weirdo and then established that that’s not inherent to all or even most angels and he has ambiguous angel disorders and then established that angels are fundamentally conformist & conservative and cas is An Outlier for asking questions and having doubts and he’s been like that the whole time And Then they said he got repeatedly fucking lobotomised about this and it didn’t even work and even when being gaslit and mindfucked to all hell he still acts how he feels is right not how he’s told to And!! No one on Supernatural ever cleans up the bodies of the angels and demons they kill. They just fucking leave these hollowed out corpses lying around for random people to find. And all I can think about is that there’s gotta be a designated unit of the real FBI that is looking into these cases because there are literally hundreds, if not thousands, of bodies that’ve turned up killed in the exact same way in the last two to three years. And it must be so fucking confusing to try and solve because it’s easy to tell that it’s not one person doing all these killings. The initial stab wounds are never in the same spot, and there isn’t enough consistency to be the work of a single serial killer. So they know it’s more than one person, possibly a team or a cult, but they don’t have much more beyond that because every time they think they’re getting close another body turns up and they’re back at square one. And man, I just really want a fic of the feds working on this team because I just really want the perspective of some civilians who keep finding dead angels and demons without knowing that’s what they’re finding.

Every now and again I am forced to relive in my mind that episode where Becky reads Chuck’s ending and she tells him how fucking terrible it is, how that ending was then, obviously, spectacularly tuned on its head, because the opposite of Chuck’s ending is what fit the last 15 years of character development and storyline, while we got a glorious love declaration from one of the main characters to another, confirming just one beautiful part of this huge storyline... leading us coherently and beautifully all the way into a finale where this all made glorious sense...

Only for all that to get pushed aside and Chuck’s ending to actually end up verbatim the SPN finale.

one aspect of supernatural i’m obsessed with is the implication that, if they decide to leave the life, at any moment, they could just turn the corner and find a wife. Dean has a one night stand from years ago just ready to take him in. Sam was ready to marry his first girlfriend at 22, in the year Dean spent in purgatory had already moved in with a girl. and who could forget the blurry wife. even Cas washed up naked in a river amnesiac and found a nice christian girl ready to marry him straight away. it’s like this show’s definition of normalcy is so insanely ingrained in traditional heterossexuality and suburban nuclear families it can’t even invision another alternative. it barely makes sense, how dudes this far removed from interaction with normal human society could just pull a wife out of a hat.

I'm so obsessed with Dean's lack of reverence. He has no qualms calling a capital A Angel of the lord a dumbass and that's not a product of character development or a decade of homoerotic friendship; he's literally just like that from the get go. He meets these ancient biblical creatures in season 4 and he's like oh you think you're some kinda tough guy??? You think you know what's best mr celestial being from the dawn of the universe???? You angels think you're funny???!? Huh? Well I'm about to be hilarious

this is EXACTLY what it is @kbaycolt in reality he is actually terrified of these monsters a lot of time, but him and sam were always taught to not show it. he just goes a step further to deliberately disrespect them and refuse to take them seriously. it doesn't have too much effect on the run-of-the-mill monsters but is surprisingly a good tactic for the ones with an ego.

it's also why I enjoy his dynamic with not only early S4 Castiel but the OG Death, too. both of them are unfazed by his attitude, making his go-to power move pretty useless. if anything Death makes it clear that he doesn't take HIM seriously because dean is just an ant in his world.

(also it's just funny to see dean visibly scared by cas's threat to yeet him back to hell in comparison to the demon who threatened the very same thing an episode before)

Yep and even when Chuck is about to torture him, Sam can't. He still has that reverence hangup. But Eileen doesn't. She finishes the sentence for him and calls Chuck "pathetic."

i love the sam/dean dynamic s1-3. its hilarious. i miss them. so much more purely brothers who’re pains in the ass but they work so well together!! in 2x07 them knowing each other’s plans and stories with no words between them, the shots comparing them both figuring out the anagram at the same time. theyre a nightmare duo. theyre siblings in their purest form roughhousing and pranks and uncomfortably deep conversations about family trauma in the car when youre least expecting it. and the “I Will Kill You but if someone else threatens you I Will Die Protecting you” of it all.

once again the idea that sam could - ESPECIALLY after dean’s death - just go find some random civilian wife is so insane the heterosexuality in supernatural is absurdism at its finest sam is unwell in ways that someone outside the life could never understand and as much as i think retiring from the hunting lifestyle AS THE SHOW DEFINES IT would be ideal for him, there is no world in which he is well adjusted or normal enough to materialize a wife who knows nothing about hunting and is just cool with all the batshit shadiness and trauma that cant be talked about or understood, not to mention insisting their sun get a strange tattoo. then again, sam’s wife is just a symbol of the default heterosexuality of the blank “happy ending” which allows for absolutely no connection between sam and anyone else. giving sam a partner who understands him or the life would take away from the unhealthy & redundant codependency of the ending that the writers decided to choose, because if someone ELSE can in any way understand and connect to him, the brothers only heaven endgame falls flat.
