This was one of the most underrated angst filled Weyler scenes in the entire series 😭

No one talks about this scene or line, but it was probably one of the most telling lines on how Wednesday feels about Tyler and really the entire Galpin family, It came so early in season 2, that I don't think a lot of people really processed what Wednesday was saying.

But her line when she goes to Sheriff Galpin's house, and it's right before she enters, I assume Thing told her, "This is breaking and entering.." and Wednesday replied, "How can it be breaking and entering, if everything's already broken?"

Bruh...

That is such a heavy line.

Because it has multiple layers.

You can interpret it many ways, like she's saying, that everything around the property has already been vandalized and destroyed, so the house no longer feels like a home anymore.

Then there's the personal element, that the Galpin family, is already broken, there's nothing left for anyone to break, no more damage that could be done that could be any worse than what it already is...

And then here's the hidden Weyler element too it.

The way she delivered that line, it wasn't in her usual deadpan voice, you could feel her emotion in it.

She was also thinking about Tyler.

How Tyler is broken at the moment, how she is also broken because their relationship is currently broken.

So when Wednesday delivers that line, she really means, "Everything is broken."

Including her.

xavier is a whole other can of worms, but tyler is quite literally not the “average white man.” and the fact that the original poster has to make the real life argument shows they have an understanding that there’s no basis of that statement in the canonical universe.

tyler, the same man (in proper terms a boy, he was and still is a teenager in both season one and two) who was groomed and practically made a puppet by an older woman?

tyler, the same man who has had no control over his most violent of actions for almost the entirety we know him? the man who, outside of being forced to do another person’s bidding (first by laurel then by his mom, francoise, followed by his uncle issac) and his mind eating away at his conscience from not having a master, has been conflicted but enamored with wednesday?

tyler, the same man who feels as if the only individuality he’s able to cling to is the hyde? who feels he hardly even knows himself anymore?

you are allowed to not enjoy a pairing (despite it being canon), but some of you guys are blissfully ignorant or plain stupid.

It's so hard because the bad things that Tyler does to Wednesday in season 2 that people are upset about don't seem to upset her.

He throws her out of the window and I'm like Oh fuck, that's bad, she won't forgive him for this and then she immediately says "I've always dreamed of looking death in the face. But in my final moments, all I hear are my mother's words ringing in my ears. Maybe I have made everything worse. Much worse." Also in one of the Wednesday season 2 part 2 teaser trailers, there's a voiceover of Morticia stating that Wednesday's coma is "The vacation she's always dreamed of."

Then he threatens to kill Wednesday and Enid and she states, "Tyler declared that Enid and I will die today. He may be a deranged psychopath, but his timing is poetic. If I could choose my last day, El Día de los Muertos would top my wish list. The Day of the Dead has always been my favorite holiday." (She also mentioned to him that it's big in her family during their trip to the Gates mansion in 1x6)

Plus when they bury her and he watches, she opens her eyes and says "I enjoyed that"???

She doesn't seem to give a fuck, to be honest. When she thinks that Xavier is the Hyde in season 1, she literally approaches him and says "I know what you are, Xavier" with a smile. She doesn't seem to mind telling the person she thinks is the serial killing monster that she has them all figured out.

She doesn't care that he's a Homicidal Hyde, she cares that he tricked her in season 1. She literally jokes that that he's her type immediately after kissing him and finding out it's him (Also admitting in season 2 that she was attracted to him).

Can’t believe I missed the absolute gem of a fact that Tyler literally moved up of Wednesday’s to do list lmfao

Like she didn’t deny the “i thought we liked each other” comment and really just said “hold your hormones, let me lock in on this case first” and when Xavier was arrested she was out there speed walking to Jericho to make that curly haired barista HERS. 

Girlie was hyper fixated on that case, constantly on edge for days and unable to truly enjoy Tyler’s company. The RELIEF she must’ve felt when she thought she had solved it that she rushed to catch Tyler’s closing shift to put him out of his misery because he’s apparently been pouting to Bianca about not being Wednesday’s boyfriend.

Xavier in jail, monster case closed, next priority is her doe eyed loser. Where were they? Ah yes Tyler was making that mistake before they were so rudely interrupted. Let me tell you rn Wednesday Addams walked in that night at the Weathervane with A PLAN the way she stepped forward and kissed Tyler. She’s gonna get that first kiss box checked, shaded, and strikethroughed and it’s with THAT HIMBO.

Bro why are wenclair fans so toxic? 😭 Wenclair fans keep calling us homophobes like it’s their full-time job, and honestly? It’s getting embarrassing at this point. 😭

What did we even do? We like a different ship. That’s it. That’s the crime. Apparently having your own opinion now equals homophobia? Be serious. 💀

They drag “homophobia” into every argument because they literally have nothing else to say. How does me not shipping Wenclair make me a homophobe?? It doesn’t. It’s just the easiest word they can throw around when they run out of actual points.

And the funniest part? They even call LGBT people homophobic just for not shipping Wenclair.

Then when someone goes, “I’m literally a lesbian,” they suddenly go silent. Like… what now? Where’s the logic? Exactly there isn’t any.

Their arguments are always the same, recycled, and honestly… boring.

Yeah, we know. We watched the show too.But maybe try watching the entire show and not two clips? Because Wednesday herself doesn’t even react the way they expect us to react. And the story literally sets him up as a manipulated Hyde, but sure keep pretending that’s the only thing that matters.

“If Enid was a boy you’d ship her with Wednesday!” No??? If I wanted Wednesday with a sweet, kind, soft boy, I’d ship her with Xavier. Obviously.

But thanks for assuming you know everyone’s sexuality and preferences better than they do. 💀

And the biggest clown move? When you actually give them a real argument like talking about character arcs, narrative parallels, or Wednesday’s development they suddenly “can’t see your comment” or they straight up delete your replies on TikTok.

Like… okay. If your ship can’t survive a discussion, maybe that’s not my problem.

So yeah, I don’t get why they throw the homophobia label at everyone. It’s just a lazy way to shut people up. Not liking Wenclair isn’t homophobia it’s taste. Why are you still defending Tyler?

BECAUSE OF THIS, OKAY?!

Because this boy was genuinely so PROUD of this date he came up with for Wednesday. He did research. Made crafts. Dragged an old school film projector onto school grounds and through the woods then found a copy of Legally Blonde to put in said projector. Because he could have just picked a slasher and been fine. But he chose something she likely had never seen before that would genuinely horrify her. He got her a Black Dahlia. He wanted it to be a surprise. He put so much work and effort into this thing and he DIDN'T HAVE TO.

I highly doubt Thornhill/Gates did anything other than tell Tyler to find a way to keep her busy. He could have just kept her at the Weathervane or went on a walk or something but he DIDN'T. He came up with a real date. And his face was so earnest and happy and excited the ENTIRE time. Wednesday couldn't even see him here. She let him TOUCH her and she trusted him to not do something awful while her eyes were closed. HE WANTED TO DATE HER. HIM. Despite the orders. Despite the control. This was something that he had the power to chose within his slave bond. At least that's what I think. This was him. This was all him. In fact, speaking of touching, he was the only one who could consistently do so without retaliation or reprimand. And she never seemed to be bothered by his proximity like she was with Xavier at least and it wasn't until the end that she let Enid hug her even.

He had no plan. Not really because in the end we have to know how much he knew about the plan from Gates. Because if the vision never happened and Wednesday stayed with him until the enevitable betrayal would he have asked to stay out of it as a human? Would he have tried to cling onto what they have? Would he have asked Gates to spare Wednesday if they hadn't been at odds?

I just want Tyler to smile again. I want him to face his demons and pull himself above it even if he sometimes gets dragged back under. I don't want him to be redeemed via death. That's such a lazy storytelling option to me. The hard part isn't the single act that 'redeems' you and then you die and it's fine. (KPOP Demon Hunters, Avengers). It's so much more compelling to have someone perform an act of redemption and telling what happens after. Do they still have nightmares? Those urges? How do they mend relationships (not just romantic, but friendships, family) and how do they continue to earn their redemption post 'redemption act'? Happily Ever After shouldn't be the ending. It should be the beginning.

The difference in the romantic treatment Wednesday receives from Tyler v/s the platonic treatment she receives from Enid is very stark and is why I will never be able to ship anything other than wyler.

I can't ignore the fact that Tyler made sure her dead flowers were wrapped in black and white and that the note was also black and white because he knows she has an allergy but Enid drank a coffee with colorful syrups, didn't take her anti-allergic meds and wore bright colored clothing while smiling and dancing to humiliate her in front of the entire school because she thought Wednesday was lying to maintain her "tragic, lonely goth girl aesthetic".

(Honestly, I find that description of Wednesday very humiliating, and personally, I would never speak that way about my friends and that too behind their back. But i do like Enid and Wednesday's friendship so I'm willing to overlook it.)

Enid did all of that when she was on good terms with Wednesday and then when she was a little mad at her.

Tyler did all of that for her while he wanted to kill her.

In s1 the difference is even more stark, he and Xavier are romantically interested in her, so they treat her boundaries differently than Enid does. For her birthday, Xavier designed a Gothic cake, and Tyler chose dark chocolate ganache because he wanted to stick to her preferences and boundaries.

Enid... added a pink balloon.

For her birthday, Enid made her a snood which did not match her aesthetic at all but she still forced her to wear it while Tyler acknowledged that while the coffee doesn't match her aesthetic he only did it to do something special for her. And on their birthday dinner/date he took her to a crypt, got her favourite flower: a black dahlia, made their cutlery look like weapons, made black and white popcorn buckets, got an old fashioned film projector and tortured her for fun.

Again and again, the contrast in their relationships is shown through how Enid and Tyler treat Wednesday's boundaries and allergy.

It's not a coincidence. It's meant to show the difference between how the platonic love between Enid and Wednesday translates to Enid pushing Wednesday's boundaries and making her try new things and grow while Tyler gives her space and comfort to be her dark self without any judgement.
