in the 1960s, america would have been all to happy to extend civil rights to blacks if only they  weren’t all just a bunch of lawless looters and rioters.

good thing we’ve grown as a society since then!

in the 1960s, america would have gladly listened to civil rights leaders – if only they weren’t all just stoking so much darn violence all the time!

good thing mlk’s image has been rehabilitated and black leaders are taken seriously now!

Innocent Black Man is Serving 2 Life Sentences for the crime he did not commit

How often do you hear stories like this? 

Pretty often, to be honest. This is the main problem of our justice system- innocent people are in jail and real criminals are free. 

Both former Kansas City, MO police commissioner and prosecutor say inmate Ricky Kidd is serving life-sentences for a crime he didn’t commit but cannot release him due to deadline technicalities.

Ricky Kidd was arrested and convicted of the murders of George Bryant and Oscar Bridges, according to 41 KHSB. The shooting deaths happened on February 6, 1996 at a house on Monroe Avenue and 70th Street near Swope Park.

“He didn’t do it and I know he didn’t do it,” Kansas City Police Commissioner Alvin Brooks told us after looking into the case. “It was not Ricky Kidd. It was another person, but they did look a little alike.”

He has already served 20 (!!!) years in prison and there is practically no hope he will be released soon. There is a ton of reasons they won’t let him out, like  they probably would have to pay him a million dollars for wrongful incarceration… They stole half of his life and it’s not going to get better. How do we live in the world like this?
