He was only the second vampire she had ever met who wanted her to call them by their name, rather than a title. Eveline bit her lower lip lightly, before nodding. “Okay… well I hope to see you there, Alaric.” Somehow it felt even stranger the second time around that it had been requested of her.
His amendment made her nod a little. “Of course–” and she had to fight to keep the sir on the tip of her tongue from escaping past her lips. “You do?” She asked him, smile playing at the corners of her mouth. “Thank you.” She thought, anyway – it seemed to be a compliment that he thought sh would do well there.
Eveline laughed softly, seeming to relax a little more as she said, “Oh no we can’t have that, Sir.” And then more softly, “I mean – Ric.” It was going to take time to break that habit. They approached the display and she studied the pastries inside, chewing lightly on her bottom lip before pointing out one that looked like it would be tasty. She thought it was a kind of scroll, but her reading wasn’t good enough to know what type, though she could see the berries.
Much of her cooking skill had been learned through experience and knowing what things looked like. Some basic ingredient words. If she stared long enough she probably would have figured out it was white chocolate and raspberry but she didn’t want to waste Alaric’s time waiting on that. “This looks nice.”
❝ you might. ❞ it wasn’t like he was intentionally flirtatious, it just kind of happened. and it was easy to be that way with her, which did make him feel a little guilty. ❝ i do. you’re sweet and friendly, i think a bakery would be a good place for you. ❞
❝ there you go. ❞ he chuckled as she remembered that he didn’t really have an interest in being called sir. at least not right then. though he doubted that seren would be down with that in the bedroom. he was gonna be taking all of that as slow as she wanted. her pointing at the pastry drew his attention back to her, to the moment there. it did look good. ❝ you have good taste. ❞ nodding in agreement with her choice, he ordered two of them. ❝ let me know if there’s anything else that catches your eye. ❞ he got them some coffees as well, sighing happily at the piping hot caffeine. it was just what he needed and wanted. ❝ inside or out? ❞ wherever she wanted to sit, he was down with.
while he was wondering about her story, he didn’t think that she’d be good with him prying. it was just something he was curious about. how had she gone so long without being claimed?
