I don’t care how they’re marketed, these things are not wheelchair accessible, especially for large power chairs.
ID: a yellow and black plastic cable cover which is approximately 5-10cm tall with steep sides and looks like a small speed bump /end ID
Every time I go over one I need someone to help hold my chair and get me over it. Even with that support it hurts like Hell and has caused whiplash injuries for me in the past. It’s also very unsafe for others because even with support I cannot 100% control the angle my chair will end up lurching over it (and my chair weighs over 150kg without me in it so it’s not something you want to collide with). It’s also terrifying and makes noises that make me very concerned for my chair’s structural integrity.
If you want your event to actually be accessible to wheelchair users then consider using something more like this:
ID: the same kind of cable cover but it’s fitted with a much shallower ramp with the international symbol of access embossed on the black plastic. The ramps are about a foot long on either side of the cover /end ID
Fuck ever news outlet for naming the murderer and blasting his face all over the internet, but the trans woman he murdered is never shown and only referred to as "transgender woman."
Her name was Juniper Blessing, and she was just doing her laundry.
lately there's been a lot of Men's Rights people marked red on shinigami eyes that post endlessly about how totally real "transandrophobia" is sharing this post, and it makes me absolutely livid!
You did this! You fucking pieces of shit spread the ideology that did this to her! You don't get to fucking contribute to systemic transmisogyny all day every day and then turn around and say how sad you are when we get murdered. You are just as bad as people who oppose gun control and then offer "thoughts and prayers" to the parents of children killed in school shootings!
I hate all of you, and I will never forgive a single one of you!
As a trans woman I sure love having all this visibility that makes complete strangers break into our apartments to stab us 40 times while we're doing our laundry, or gun us down in the middle of the street while we're waitng for a bus, or kicking us out of homeless shelters so we freeze to death, or luring us into a park at night to stab us to death, or throw us into men's prisons for life for the crime of defending ourselves from a man trying to kill us. All those trans men sure are right to be jealous of our visibility.
I sure love how every thing has to be a fight between us. So kewl that trans girls and trans guys have to hate each other and fight and compete for rights. Its not a zero sum game you fucking chud.
Fuck off with this, love your trans brothers. None of us are free until all of us are free.
Eat shit you fucking transmisogynistic shitbag.
there is no single argument against including trans women in sports that doesn't boil down to "women aren't supposed to be good at this" and it's fucking insane to me that every woman in the world isn't up in arms about the way this issue has laid institutional misogyny bare to the bone
If you're at work in a retail or hospitality environment and you see a sex worker with a client... no you didn't.
If your boss asks you if you think that person's a sex worker, you tell them you do not believe that. You don't report their presence to anyone. You don't joke about it with a coworker. You don't eavesdrop or bother them.
We're working the same as you are. Leave us alone!
Some examples of situations where you might need to keep your mouth shut about a potential sex worker:
You see someone you don't recognize walk past reception at your hotel to head directly for the stairs or elevator or towards the rooms without acknowledging you at the reception desk. Yes, this includes when the person is wearing revealing clothing or a nice dress and heels. This is not your business.
You notice multiple men going to the same hotel room during the same evening, each only staying for an hour or so at a time. This is not your business.
You seat two customers for dinner and work as their waiter/waitress for the night. You see one give an envelope of cash to the other. Yes, this includes when there's a huge age gap between the two and they're being affectionate. This is not your business.
You overhear one customer ask another how much they charge for a night, whilst making drinks for them. You heard nothing. This is not your business.
I do not care what kind of retail or hospitality setting you work in. If you see a sex worker, no you didn't!
if the cops get involved, you know who gets punished? not any of the clients, only the sex worker. not a pimp, not the hotel manager, only the worker; and the cops are liable to sexually assault them as well.
if you have any qualms about sex work, you can start by improving workers' rights as a whole. demilitarizing police. increasing comprehensive sex ed for all ages. battling misogyny in the workplace. under the boot of capitalism, we all suffer - the most vulnerable, such as sex workers, suffer worst. leave them be.
MLK was a star trek fan
people hate it when i say "black people getting cancer is racist" but im literally fucking right because systemic racism has led to chemical dumping being acceptable in black/brown neighborhoods and black people have higher rates of cancer as a result
you all don’t even try to hide your transmisogyny
This is an ancient tactic to handwave feminism in all forms since the beginning of time. "I wont take this feminism stuff seriously until a man tells me how it is." What makes this exceptionally transmysoginistic is that trans women are expected to engage with this criticism like its actually about inclusivity, and not just boring ass regular laughed-out-of-the-room misogyny.
I can't believe home depot literally produced a wildly successful science fiction musical and we all just pretend it didn't happen. on one hand yes it had a boring white guy main character but like.... home depot just... Made it? And it had shit ton of box office sales? and no one even talks about this. this is like avatar (2009) all over again
OK so. After a lot of frantic googling I realized this was all a dream. home depot did not in fact produce a wildly successful science fiction musical. I was on allergy meds and took a nap and my brain simply prophesized this. slightly disappointed because I wanted to watch it.

Short men aren’t real men apparently

Here we have someone systemically rejecting short men. They’re telling short men that they’re objectively unattractive and that no one will ever want them. They’re literally telling short men to kill themselves.
And who’s saying that? Is it an “evil foid”? No. It’s an incel.
When a woman who prefers tall men is pursued by a short man, usually she’ll just reject him so he can move on and find another woman who likes “short kings”. It’s very rare for her to say anything near as cruel as this.
Men enforce the cruelty, and women get blamed for it.
remember in like 2016 when one of the biggest complaints in the culture war was that kids cartoons had art styles that were too round
and to be clear it was mostly a synecdouche for the fact that CN and Disney had a couple of shows made by women, poc, and queer people at the time but also like. imagine. "a lot of cartoons of this decade have a similar art style. and it's a round art style" like imagine being mad at that. people were mad about that.
oh my god this is absolutely NOT what happened do you genuinely think that rounded artstyles is what killed cartoons and not the combination of youtube, streaming, covid, disrespect for the medium by the owners of media companies, and capitalism's autocannibalistic need to suck up resources and liquidate assets? do you really think the big heads and rounded faces are fundamentally different from animeesque art in the mid 00s, or tartakovsky-esque thick lines in the late 90s and 00s, or muddy realism in the mid 90s, 80s teletoon style, hanna barbara in the 60s and 70s...
people were mad that 1. the popular style was shifting away from the animeesque and comicbookesque art that they grew up with in the 90s and 00s, and 2. that we were getting stories about women, people of color, and queer people.

Oh my god calling myself a lesbian isn't fucking shoving myself into a box. No amount of anarchism is going to make me attracted to men
The destruction of the white supremacist cishetero patriarchy is not going to make me any less of a dyke. Your stupid fuckin' stateless utopia is not going to change my sexuality.
In your perfect world where we don't have labels I'm still not going to be attracted to (nor will I desire sexual advances from) men, and I deserve a way to communicate that.
One of my favourite things about recent star wars is how they portray the empire.
Across multiple media, Obi wan, Bad Batch, Rebels, Andor especially, and recently Maul, we see how the empire only serves Palpatine. Nothing else. Nobody else. And he does not share power.
They treat the empire as an all consuming plague (as they should) . It doesn't matter who you are, Jedi, Rebels, Sith, Criminals, Common people, Even imperials themselves....EVERYONE suffers. The Empire does not care. It does not reward anything. Everyone is always afraid, always miserable, both the bullies and the victims. The Empire is truly Cancer, it just takes and takes and takes until it swells.
This also makes me genuinely love Palpatine as a villian within the narrative. He's just pure, unfiltered evil. Man is THE ultimate sith. The epitome of what it means to be a sith. Everything belongs to him, and to him only. He does not give a fuck about the rule of two, he does not care about vader, he doesn't care about the sith, he doesn't care about his officers, nobody. It's only him and HIS empire. Nobody else's. He finessed the galaxy into willingly making him a dictator by pointing out what others did wrong and making sure you're never looking at him and what he's doing.
There were many things wrong in the galaxy before his arrival but after the empire things get unmistakably worse, and I'm glad star wars is showing this considering our....real world situations.
