hello, my names Zacar and this is my familiar, a basilisk names silica. After escaping the underground I met a few friends and went on a few adventures. After saving a basilisk egg, I decided that I would take care of it and help it grow. So, I had a thought. Actually, I’ve had a lot of thoughts. And they would not leave me alone. So here we are.

I’m sorry to be bringing politics in here but I need to address this.

So…..article 13 has passed. No more freedom in the internet for Europe. But this will not go into effect immediately. It will take each member state two years to so your memes, art, videos and such are still ok for now. So in the meantime, here’s what you can do: if you live in any EU state/country, there will be elections coming up in May. Which means you will have a chance to vote out all the greedy people who voted for this. If you know anyone who lives there, contact them ASAP. We may have lost the fight, BUT we have not lost the war. Just like with Net Neutrality in the US. If we vote for the right people, who knows how much they could fix this mess and possibly write article 13 in a way that actually works for both politicians and the public. It’s not the end everyone, keep your head held high and we might just win this digital war.

Xylitol would have let go when they got to the stables, but still be following as a shadow when he went back to normal. “Well, I didn’t exactly know if Silica would be fine with me riding, so I did the next best thing for me… How is the General by the way?”

He pulled off his bag and stretched it open to form the door, opening it to reveal the general inside

He eyed the beads and tilted his head a bit. “What are those…?”

“This is a Necklace of Fireballs. Basically the spell fireball for non-casters, each bead is one cast. However, they ignite if they receive too much fire damage. I keep them in a bag of holding just in case, and i’ve found that they make rather wonderful landmines, grenades, just stuff you could use explosives for. Using a whole necklace can typically take out a rather strong wall.”

He would start taking beads off as they moved, leaving them in certain spots. “Leaving them no more than 15ft apart from each other allows for a chain of explosions too. Once we’re out, i’ll use the last bead and it should give our pursuers something more important to deal with.”

“Huh, sounds useful…” He mumbled as the wall near them suddenly exploded. Silica gave a snarl making the guards back off as Zacar got on his back. “Or one basilisk can do the same damage. Our rides here!”

He would laugh a bit and toss a handful of the beads at the few he had put out, then use the last one to set them all off, blowing up about half of the General’s quarters. The guards would mostly go to check on the General, only a few remaining to deal with them.

“Alright, let’s go then!” Xylitol would then go with Zacar, not certain if Silica would let him ride on his back, so he would turn into a living shadow and hold onto Zacar’s shoulders, not touching Silica in the process.

He took notice of the shadow and grinned as he rode silica out of there and back to the tavern and the stables behind them. Silica knew where to go as if he had done it a million times before, ducking under the cloth like door and curling up in his stall. Zacar dismounted, went inside, paid for a room and went in before sighing. "Ya can hop off now."

Xylitol would sigh, but end up smiling as he became visible, putting one of his katana’s through a guard’s chest. He would join Zacar and say, “Get the target, i’ll cover you.”

Given that he was a shadow assassin, he had a few tricks ready. He put a hand into the shadows, then swiped it across the open air, causing a smoke-like shadow to form and start providing them visual cover in that direction.

Zacar looked at him “I gothim already! Damn guard set off the alarm when I thought I killed him! Let’s go!” He yelled as he threw up his hand. The shadows that he had produced then became thicker and darker, forming a wall of darkness that the guards couldn’t see in at all. “Let’s move!!

Xylitol would chuckle and comment, “Oh I like that.” then he would go join Zacar.

“The path we took to get in here will be filled with guards. Got a plan to get out? Or will we need to keep up the shadows and darkness to try and slip out?”

"I got an idea~" he said with a grin. After a moment he put his fingers together and blew.

Outside the wall, Silica heard the whistle and let out a roar, charging in. Were they were, they could hear the beast coming.
