These vegan honey wheat rolls are a delightful combination of whole wheat flour, maple syrup, and vegan butter, resulting in a soft and slightly sweet bread. They're perfect for any occasion and pair wonderfully with soups, salads, or enjoyed on their own as a snack.
Ingredients: 1 cup whole wheat flour. 1 cup all-purpose flour. 1 tablespoon baking powder. 1/2 teaspoon salt. 1/4 cup maple syrup. 1/4 cup almond milk. 1/4 cup vegan butter, melted. 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar. 1 tablespoon ground flaxseed + 3 tablespoons water flax egg substitute. 2 tablespoons sesame seeds for garnish. 1 tablespoon maple syrup for glaze.
Instructions: Preheat your oven to 375F 190C. In a small bowl, prepare the flax egg substitute by mixing ground flaxseed with water. Set aside for 5 minutes to thicken. In a large mixing bowl, combine whole wheat flour, all-purpose flour, baking powder, and salt. In another bowl, mix together maple syrup, almond milk, melted vegan butter, apple cider vinegar, and the prepared flax egg. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Shape the dough into 8 rolls and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Brush the tops of the rolls with a little almond milk and sprinkle sesame seeds over them for garnish. Bake in the preheated oven for 15-18 minutes, or until golden brown and cooked through. Once out of the oven, brush the tops of the rolls with maple syrup for a sweet glaze. Allow the rolls to cool slightly before serving.
