And btw! I read tags! so don't be afraid to lose your mind in it 👍👍
I kinda want Damian choose his name as Damian the Ripper when Chrysalis akumatized him tbh.
WHAT!!!! That's crazzyyy! I need to know what made you decide his akuma person would be "the Ripper" stat!
I think it'd be hard to akumatize Damien alone in the AU though
I have my reasons but as I was typing it out in this ask I ended up getting embarrassed and backtracked skflbggdasfdsgdfsknkjbv
I'm... not super well-versed with superhero comic lore (I read so few, like 1-4 at most ik I need to catch up, but I ended up watching a lot of the animated films and listened/read to some character analysis so most of my knowledge came from there. call me a fake if you want)
Decided to make Damien yet another victim to my Crossover Mall AU but in the alt timeline of the AU where the MLB in it is the canon MLB (my main timeline is now fanon MLB bc I don't really watch the show anymore)

ML x Smiling Critters Au - in Search of the missing Ladybug!
Dogday and Catnap full design reveal YAYYYYY 🥳🥳🥳🥳
And it wouldn't be a real ML au without the obligatory "tail"-pull lol
the coloring of the image is so bad, ik, pls ignore :'((
Extra doodles:
how'd they call on their signature power ^^
putting my short breakdown of their designs under the cut bc I am a BIIIG ass yapper and I DID take the time to think it through:
Tried to put some sense into their designs ngl, both in fashion at the time and how practical it would be to their fighting styles.
Dogday, being the leader and "boring" one of the squad, obviously follows the basic superhero design - skintight suit. Though I added pads because I think he'd be cautious like that. I had to add them too since using just his normal palette made the entire outfit feel like it's lacking, which I wanna avoid. The hat is based on a trooper/hunter hat with ear muffs, since I've seen old images of hunters that bring dogs with them wearing those kind of hats. There's a specific image I based it on, but I can't find it anymore. As for his tail, it's a belt. because baseball players wear belts (he is one in this au)! and um. a slight reference with the canon... I guess...
Catnap's a bit more complex. His fit is more a mix of the Y2K street outfit and drawstring pajamas. Drawing Catnap's braid-tail was TORTURE, I tell you. But it was needed. The idea was that the two separate strings from the pants are braided together to make up his tail. And yes, it extends really far. I'll be honest, I'm not yet satisfied with his patterns atm. I tried to make it look "stitchy" but ended up leaning on a more the patterns you often see from cargo pants. I also tried the typical pajama pattern when designing but it wasn't working for me. I'll leave it for now because I was stumped w/ rendering him for months
Those days I have been thinking, do you think that Sheldon Lee from MLaaTR is misogynistic, sexist or chauvinistic? No hate towards him, he is one of my favorite characters but I was just wondering if he is.
hoooo boy...
I ended up ranting so uh. I'm putting them under the cut. Keep in mind that it isn't targetted on you! I appreciate that you recognize his flaws and all, I just become rly expressive at these things ; w ;
Honestly? I think he's neither of those. Instead, he's just a teenager with a big fat crush and has the tendency to deal with it in a very stalker-ish, unhealthy, and problematic way.
It's understandable to mistake him as misogynistic, sexist, or chauvinistic when looking into some of his actions because those were really extreme and all kinds of wrong. (example: stealing Jenny's blueprints to find out how to "get to her heart") BUT if you actually paid attention to his character and behavior in the show, you'd notice that he's not misogynistic, nor is he sexist or chauvinistic. He didn't steal those prints because he thinks Jenny is inferior to him. Neither did he do it to "put her in her place". He just wanted to figure out how "get to her heart" (<- his exact words)
Because that's the thing: He's in love with Jenny just the way she is.
He puts her on a pedestal and knows just how great she is. He's just hoping really desperately that she'd feel the same, to the point he did those problematic things I wish the writers should've not written in.
With that being said, is he a creep? yes. Is he a stalker? yeah. Is he a misogynist? no. Is he a sexist or a chauvinist? if he was, he would've been an asshole and demanding to girls now, wouldn't he? But NAH!! Sheldon didn't show any distaste or hatred towards girls or women. We literally see a GIRL amongst the bullies tormenting him in his first appearance.
As I quote from his words upon reacting to Jenny: "you're like captain crush, but only better"
this isn't a "oh you're a girl, a perfect wife for me"
it is "you're awesome like captain crush. But you're also a girl! that's so cool it's making me have feelings for you"
He's a nerd that can recognize a girl's worth
"Oh yeah? if he does, then what's with that episode of paying one of the bully girls to date him to make Jenny jealous?"
Like what you said: he paid her to do his crappy bidding. There was something in it for her. Had she said no, I'm pretty sure he'd leave her alone and find some other girl who's willing. Please remember that this entire thing is an act done out of desperation (which had always been his motive to do his problematic actions to win Jenny). Had Sheldon been a misogynist/sexist/chauvinist, he would have done this in the earlier episodes AND had asserted what he wanted to do with the girl (whether she wanted to or not). He also wouldn't have done this to get Jenny's attention if this were the case.
"How about that time he fantasized about Q.T.2- "
Jenny had a nightmare of the same thing where she's an exhausted housewife too. That's not exclusively a Sheldon thing. And come on: Let's be real.
There are so many "A young couple in love turned into an unwanted marriage where the girl becomes the begrudging pregnant housewife while the guy becomes the neglectful wife-hating husband that does nothing but read the newspaper" jokes done in the 2000's, MLAATR isn't excluded to this. I don't know why the MLAATR crew keeps putting them in the show. Maybe it's to be satire, or it's to mock the false perception of romance, or perhaps because they think it's funny (it rly isn't ://). It doesn't change the fact it's a joke made in bad taste.
There's a lot more he's done or had experienced which are dumb or unpleasant, but I won't get into them. Because I don't think Sheldon's behavior and character in the show is the main factor in mistaking his personality.
if anything, I think the real reason as to why it's easy to mistake him as misogynistic/sexist/chauvinistic is because of how the majority of the community and (ESPECIALLY) the show treats him. Never mind that he made Jenny uncomfortable by stalking her. Nevermind that he did really cruddy things that could be reported to the authorities, he's our lovable nerd 🥰
It's an issue I think is still present with fictional characters today (take note: Marinette Dupain-Cheng). Wherein a very dangerous trait is often ignored because of the dorky charisma the character has. It's funny in shows or fiction, but it's not pleasant in real life. Would you want to be stalked by a "lovable" teenager who has a tendency to take your things for their own benefit? don't think so..
I can somewhat forgive the show though. Because even if they treat Sheldon this way, at least it also punishes him harshly for his awful actions. Regardless if Sheldon DID realize his mistake, apologize for it or not.
While it's important to take note of a character's awful behavior or portrayal of their behavior, I think it's also important to realize just what the character in their entirety. Yeah, Sheldon did those bad things, but that's not the only thing he did. There are moments when he truly felt guilty in his bad decisions and admitted to it, and there are even moments when he didn't react like a creep to Jenny. A notable episode of this is the fashion episode, wherein the whole time he had been what I think is what he truly is: a sweet, dorky nerd with a big fat crush.
....Ok so um... what to take out of this?
I'll repeat this: Sheldon's neither a misogynist, sexist, or chauvinistic
He's in love but got some unhealthy tendencies when dealing with it, most likely because he's socially inept or because he never got attention before and is afraid of losing it.
He doesn't immediately recognize his actions are unacceptable until it gets too far.
He's not a truly bad character though. He's proven in other episodes that he genuinely likes Jenny and has the potential to grow out of his creepiness
People are allowed to hate on a character, but they need to recognize when a character is really a misogynist/sexist/chauvinist or just a teenager that makes really, really, really s/tty decisions (because the writer/s makes them do it)
Having to reflect and review some episodes over the years, I kind of have a newer take of it?
Was he intended to be misogynistic/sexist/chauvinistic?
No. I believe he was not supposed to be.
That said, did he come off as one? unfortunately, and understandably, yeah. At least in some episodes.
You and I can tell that he's supposedly designed to be a lovable dorky nerd, obviously written with the typical nerd archetype. An awkward genius who lacks social awareness or charisma to be popular. The dork who may not be popular or likable in his own world because he's "weird", but he's likable and relatable to the audience because of that weirdness. Do you get what I mean?
He's a teenager, so he's supposed to make stupid decisions. It's natural, especially when it comes to their crushes. Though being socially inept, and only having long human contact through his club-classmates (before meeting Jenny that is) has amped the dumb choices to a 100x, and added a level of suspiciousness and unintentional (I wanna believe it's unintentional) maliciousness with it.
Now there's a chance that Jenny might be his first crush, and if I remember, it was because of Jenny did he gain more human friends and other social experiences. Not to mention the fact that their first meeting was Sheldon getting his ass SAVED by Jenny. So perhaps this may be why he wants to be with her so badly. But having a crush isn't inherently misogynistic/sexist/chauvinistic. And I don't think they were aiming for him to be one either. I feel they were directing for Sheldon to slowly learn to be more socially and self-aware, especially through Jenny. We can see that development a few episodes when he hang out with them longer. At those times he starts giving her a word of advice, or talk to her and treat her normally, which is something he wouldn't do before when he saw her as some kind of perfect goddess. It is a nice thing to see.
That said, it is a product of its time. So yes, while he is not by design supposed to be misogynistic/sexist/chauvinistic, writing tend to leak biases. Sheldon, by character, is not one. But there's a chance that someone involved is, and that influenced the way how Sheldon is made to act. Alternatively, maybe that's not the case, maybe it has to do with the typical show's infamy of making characters revert development because idk... they think characters developing... bores audiences? This is prevalent with like those strange episodes with him trying so hard to get Jenny's attention etc. I'm not gonna go list them one by one since I think I already made some in the original answer.
Though I'll be honest, there's a good chance that may not be their priority. If anything, I feel they made him do the things he did because, other than conflict, it's... funny? at least, when Sheldon gets punished. We can't say that the writers aren't aware that his actions can come off as misogynistic/sexist/chauvinistic either. 2000s has some really offensive humor, so again, it's a product of their time. Perhaps, since Sheldon getting punished or humiliated for failing to get with Jenny is treated as a gag, they added some because they think it's funny? (Take this paragraph with a grain of salt. I am stating through my memory of observation)
AGAIN THESE ARE BASED ON MY OBSERVATIONS ON SOME EPISODES. At most I think he's not being one. And by design, I don't think he is one. But I will understand if you find him misogynistic/sexist/chauvinistic.
is lily lovebraids going to be in your mlb x ppt au?
yes!! kinda??
I want to add her in the AU! She SHOULD be in it, because she's such a very interesting character. But I'm not exactly sure where to add her yet. I'm contemplating whether to make her
The school's shady guidance counselor
The school's annoying cheerleader/popular girl
A popular kids TV show host and actress, who secretly scams families out of their kids or something
Ngl the 1. and 3. leans more to Ms. Gracie than Lily herself.
Ig what's keeping me from finally deciding which is because of how much different the characters are in the au from canon. Again, while I try to reference canon characters they're gonna be different here (at this point I feel they're ooc at this point woops) Like for starters, Marie Payne/Mommy Long Legs here is Theo/Catnap's caretaker, Matthew, Kevin, Jack/Doey foster Bobby and run a daycare, etc.
My ideas for her isn't final yet, but I do wanna make her an antagonist too, leaning more of a Lila-esque type of character, because gaslighting kids was a big part of her character. But minus the "she's gonna be the main big bad the whole time!! and is much more involved in the plot than you think1!!11!1" because I'm saving that for the prototype (proto is the main big bad of the 2nd and final arc of the AU lol)
ML x Smiling Critters Au - in Search of the missing Ladybug!
A few more stuff and ideas about the Doctor in this AU, since he's gonna be the big bad for the first arc of the AU (there are only two arcs of this. It's most likely not gonna have a good ending lol)
Idk why I'm having fun making these. It feels illegal
Info under the cut. Warning for gore and body horror though. I talk a bit about Yarnaby here.
Making it my duty to pass the burden of "getting big Ls from two teenagers" to Dr. Sawyer because of his og self's sins lol
ML x Smiling Critters Au - in Search of the missing Ladybug!
Some thoughts of the people that'll terrorize the city. Ngl I kinda cringed making these.
Main Antagonists:
Some Akumatized Villains + their true selves before becoming victims:
I wanna let y'all know that since this is an AU, there will be stuff changed and surely won't be 100% of accurately referenced. In fact, I wanna make it as its own fan thing entirely, WhIle there are some that I based in-game lore like the name and stuff and some of the characters' states and experiences, I'm gonna modify it to make them that'll make sense in the AU's lore. Ig y'all already know that from the fact that the Smiling critters are teenagers while the other characters are adults and whatever... yeah. Hopefully I'm not gonna make them too ooc, but it might happen. Because some of them here are gonna be a lot different especially since they have an entirely different experience compared to in-game lore. I am yapping nonsense now. uhm.
Anyway. Here are some doodles of Theo with the other foster kids he lives with!!
ML x Smiling Critters Au - in Search of the missing Ladybug!
Yeah that's gonna be the Au title ig *awkward coughing*
Have a crappy sketch I drew for sh*ts and giggles
Dennis about to meet past holders
He does not take it well lol
More thoughts of this under the cut
I imagine that Barkk's chances of getting a morally good/bad user is more neutral compared to the popular ones like Ladybug or Butterfly's. In the Au, at least, she had experienced 50/50. (This is part of my personal hc that alternate timelines affect who become holders of a miraculous. It's kind of like a "time traveller drops a coin" thing. Ex. the holders who used the Ladybug miraculous will be different from the holders that are present when Marinette is Ladybug)
The holders that appear when the kagatama is activated are holders that were personally memorable to Barkk and have long passed. There's a chance she had more, but her memories with them had fallen back into her subconsciousness hence why they might not be visible to the current holder (honestly just my explanation to deal with one-day holders present in the show)
I feel Barkk would have mixed feelings with her holders. On one hand, she'd feel some kind of attachment with them. On the other hand... she keeps her distance. Granted, she may have different thoughts with each of her holder (some less liked than others). But she was there in their highest high and lowest low. That time spent together can't be erased. So regardless if she liked her holder or not, she cares for them. Wants best for them. But having to witness each of her holder's brutal ends, it messes with her emotionally and existentially. The holder before Dennis especially affected her so much, it pushed her to become more serious, strict, and even ready to bluntly scold Dennis whenever he was being a bit brash with trust or his decision.
Extra note on this, Barkk will deny on having a favorite, when she does. She absolutely does. (It's the holder before Dennis)
Any knowledge or power learned/earned of a user is automatically transferred to its Kwami. However, while innate and passed down, the predecessor/receiver will have to work for it to unlock it.
Kwamis ultimately have a say as to how far they can receive those earned knowledge/power, which many be unlocked through the gift of kwatagama. (This might be why Hawkmoth’s skills are stale or stuck with the basics. Just my theory and logic for this AU, idk.)
Barkk would probably give Dennis a kwatagama after a very tough akuma battle, a fight that left Dennis upset. Barkk comforted him as usual, but this time Dennis was so down about it. The kwatagama was a sign of thanks to him for his resilience and choice as a hero.
Oh and btw - the person Dennis was talking to is based on another fictional dog character I've grown attached to. There's also another fictional dog character I used who in this AU, is Barkk's holder literally before being found by Dennis. If you know who either of them are then (> u >) we vibin!
There's also some based on real life figures but we ain't talkin about them lol
