Supergirl review

I'm not going to sugarcoat it, "Supergirl" isn't great. I liked it, but I don't love it. The writing is not good, and it brings down the parts of the movie that I did like. I don't understand the conflict between Kara and Ruthye which is terrible because it's the basis for the whole movie. The villain and universe are both too generic to leave an impact. I loved the flashbacks and the parts with Clark. Lobo was perfect, ripped straight from the comics. It doesn't feel like anyone behind the camera wanted to make "Supergirl" which is sad because I really wanted to see it.

Watching Wendigoon's backrooms video after seeing the movie is wild. He got so much right and made so many good connections. Part of his video was the conversation with my friend we had in the car ride home. Major dejavu. It reminded me that he's not a complete dumbass lol

In Memoriam

Whatever tomorrow holds for the CSM community, irreversible change is coming. I wanted to write a list of some good things that part two gave us. Even if the ending is shit, we'll always have:

Denji being a surrogate dad. He lived like a homeless man again to give Nayuta a better future than him, breaking the cycle of the control devil and his own deadbeat father.

Asa as a character. I love Asa so much. For all the missteps with the plot and her character, I'll always appreciate having an autistic girlfailure as a realistic character in my favorite manga.

The Chainsaw Man Church was an instantly iconic and creepy plot point.

The return of the weapon devils. This was the logical way to continue the story, even if it didn't go anywhere. They didn't get enough screentime or much personality in part one. It was great to see them again.

"It's hard to spell." Part two is almost definitely funnier than part one.

Barem Bridge as a villain. Fujimoto really knows how to make readers hate his villains. Out of all CSM characters, Barem feels the most like a Fire Punch character. In the worst best way.

Fumiko's midriff.

The fire brothers chapter was really good and satisfying at a time when the manga looked to be on a downward slope.

I really like the design of the guillotine devil. Honestly, most of the devil designs are bangers.

Whatever the Statue of Liberty thing was.

EoE reference in the alleyway scene.

It came after part one :)

B. Making Aki think that he was having a snowball fight when the gun devil took over his body so he couldnt see what was actually happening

We CSM fans need to prepare ourselves emotionally before Tuesday in the event Fujimoto fumbles. Not to be a Denji-downer but if we expect chapter 232 to be ass, we won't be as disappointed. Think of the worst-case scenario right now and if it doesn't happen, it'll be a victory.
