Leilani, maybe you should have just paid for your Greek getaway for your 30th?
I bet it seemed like a great idea at the time.
You’re a very talented brand agent, and you have this client who you like as a person AND who is a heat score. He’s particular about what he openly endorses, but he has worn clothes gifted him by brands he likes (at this point, I want to burn that Panic at Needle Park Freddie Frances shirt, I am so glad it has holes in it).
So maybe you meet with brands and say you’ll have him wear stuff and his team will post pics in an “organic” way. The fandom follows them for glimpses of your client anyway. They can post hints of your client wearing shorts from a Canadian clothes brand, and these team members can get flights for their spouses or PR for their businesses. Win-win.
And you’re having a milestone birthday! Right around the time your client gets a front row seat AND a +1 for his mom at a Haute Couture show for the fashion house whose director adores him. Who cares that Paris is unbearably hot then? Maybe some of YOUR friends can tag along too?
And since you’re already in Europe, why not work your brand magic more? Leverage the client’s popularity to go a Greek island where he can make $ appearing at a club, and you can feature MORE branded clothing, and probably get hotels and food comped bc of the publicity. Happy free birthday trip to you!
And this client needs to lean into showing off his (public facing) “LT gf” because the results to this point have been…lacklustre despite their ambiguous shared past.
Especially when compared to the insane interpersonal and sexual chemistry he has with his bestie/soulmate/emotional support person in life male costar in the wildly popular TV show that vaulted them both onto the A-list in the first place. The one with the ravenous, detailed oriented fan base who have clocked their shit. Especially the night you were on babysitting duty that ended up with all of YOU drunkenly stumbling out of a shared car outside costar’s hotel in front of paps and fans. And the media accounts that then came out detailing client-costar behaviour so questionable your agency had to suppress it for fear of scandal.
And there is so much heat in their interactions they had to stop doing joint photoshoots and interviews. Then stop being photographed together. Stop being seen together in public. Stop being seen in the same city. The same country. The same continent…
So: perfect time to combine a free trip with a PR push to help your client and his (public facing) “LT gf”. Who doesn’t love the classic “kissing in a beach” pap shot? 🙄 It does not matter than days ago your client got stalked in Paris by paps and the scandal and threat to safety was so bad you had to hire a bodyguard. And that the duo in question seem unhappy and tense and don’t seem to show much affection or willingness to…touch?
It’s different in Mykonos! So the team can broadcast your star client’s location in real time. And these paps come in by boat with long lenses, so your client cannot be caught in video threatening to burn stuff with them, thank goodness.
Except the pap shots are comically bad, especially since there are similar photos of your client and his costar posing in similar photos which look like foreplay. Whoops!
And even the friendly journalists who will place articles about this idyllic holiday have to scramble bc there is no kiss pic. They’re writing stuff about how they “pressed their bodies together” 🤢 instead. Which they barely do in hundreds of pics. Meanwhile this is how you client and his costar hang out in front of colleagues during breaks on set:
And the online discourse turns toward discussions about the client’s sexuality, the very thing you are trying to avoid.
Could have avoided it all, you know. Just had a private trip for which you paid.
I wonder what the long term cost to your client’s bottom line will be? And yours.
You know when someone annoys the hell out of you and your response is no response then they’ll stop because they can’t get the reaction out of you- that’s what we need in this fandom. If every time we see something that for us is triggering and we don’t bother giving reaction, for sure those “posts” will stop because the target clout is not achieved. 🤭 Let’s not give attention nor clout to people other than hudson or connor.
noticing sth interesting 👀
i'm looking back at my chat history in may and i realised my frd and i kept a lot screenshots after met. it suddenly dawned on me that i could piece together a timeline of the pr team's activities particularly in canada, because looking back i realised that a lot of it was actually related to canada.
And while I am talking about tagging people in posts, H did NOT approve a tag for this one. There are no tags.
And when this dropped I did not recognize her. But look who is the only other person at the CSA after party posing with a certain Vancouver tattoo artist?
The Canadian publicist.
Elena the manager is also there behind Alex.
You cannot make this shit up.
Who is the actual client here?
Back in June when I wrote this, I did not then know the name of the publicist. (And I was tired of the CSA pics, lol).
This is Morgan Moss from the Vancouver based M Public Relations.
In other fandoms, I have seen some amazing publicists. Taylor’s Tree Paine is a legend (I am also generally impressed by Larissa, publicist for Connor and Sophie Nélisse).
This whole situation is weird to me. Because in my observations, at after work-related after parties like this? The publicist usually spends time with the client.
Not here - or maybe it is? Pic below.
This week we have once again seen an over-the-top push to boost the public profile of a Canadian civilian whose claims to fame include: (a) running a small, in-person business venture in Port Moody, BC and (b) being the public-facing “LT gf” of a guy who has been famous for maybe 8 months.
That is all the info we, and the friendly journalists at places like Elle and TMZ and JJ have. It is weird AF.
And since we know the Morgan and her firm are employed by Hudson — and that there would be some sort of contract in place — I have some questions:
- is boosting K’s profile and actual deliverable for this contract? or
- Is K herself also a client of this firm?
I suspect the former. But yiiiiikes.
Because I think this weirdness has breached fandom containment and the general public is starting to question Hudson — his authenticity, his actual sexuality, his work ethic. This push is causing harm to his reputation and image.
Please pull the plug. Please focus on his actual work. I am begging.
Then all makes sense now. The only other person K knew at CSA was this lady and she happened to be in the publicity industry 🫢 Are you the queerphobic one? 🫢
Don't forget this one!
🤷🏾♀️🤷🏾♀️🤷🏾♀️
Omg how could I???😇
Almost a one-to-one really lol
The Male Performance Narrative
I was going to stop, but my little scholarly mind is still whirring. Some of you know how much I like to think about the industry perspective related to Connor and Hudson. Upon reviewing the photos again, it really stood out to me how Hudson is entirely the focus of these photos. Another signal that this was a coordinated paparazzi event. There is very little awareness, or seeming interest by the photographers in capturing the women’s faces, including the woman they are trying to single out in this case. That brought to mind for me the reasoning behind why it was orchestrated the way it was for Hudson. There was no effort or interest in showing FM4’s face or highlighting whatever attractiveness anyone might deem her to have or any of the women on Hudson‘s girls trip for that matter.
In media and film, the male performance narrative is a concept in which a man must perform masculinity through obvious stereotypical male behaviors to earn validation. It prioritizes achieving results like winning a fight or getting a romantic partner or being in a position of power over the internal emotional experience.
In a romantic context, the focus is heavily on the man’s efforts to pursue and adore the woman rather than on the woman’s response to it. We see in the paparazzi photos on the beach Hudson is entirely the focus of the photos. The women around him are in some ways set pieces to exhibit his desirability, virility, and attractiveness.
When aimed at a female audience, the male performance narrative provides emotional safety by showcasing a man's devotion and effort. It fulfills a romantic fantasy by positioning the woman as someone uniquely valuable and important. The film industry casts men who can project this protective, adoring energy in order to maintain female audiences while also looking for male leads who can be the self-insert for men in sci-fi, thriller and action movies, especially franchise projects. An actor who can embody both of these characteristics, has leverage in the entertainment industry because they can appeal to all demographics across gender, identity, and sexual preference dimensions.
Historically Western media has desexualized Asian men as passive, secondary, socially awkward, and even asexual - devoid of traditional, masculine, virility and sexuality. Or they have hyper-masculinized them through the lens of martial arts - neither of which lend for any nuance for any genre for Asian male actors.
For those still upset or angry or wondering why Hudson would do something like this, please keep in mind, he I s a student of the film industry. This isn’t just him mindlessly following PR agents. Hudson is a young and emerging actor who is trying to breakdown barriers that have not been touched by someone who looks like him, quite honestly, ever. While I do not doubt the authentic part of Hudson hates doing this and we have seen that in his demeanor and his emotional processing of having to go through this over the last several months, he also understands the industry and how movies are made enough to know that photos like this to the general population do serve a purpose. He may hate it, but I would suspect he also knows if he can break through this door he can create space for not only himself, but other Asian male actors.
We have already seen other young Asian male actors reference what Hudson has been able to do and is doing as a representative of their demographic. The reality is that while Shane Hollander is a wonderful character he is still viewed as the less dominant male between Shane and Ilya. Even when you consider Connor and Hudson as actors, we have seen that Connor is able to step into a more traditionally male-dominant role in his demeanor, in his voice, and in his acting for the role of Ilya. While Connor‘s natural demeanor does not fit in with the male performance narrative, he has shown he can do that believably. Hudson has not had that opportunity yet. I believe he will in his upcoming roles, but I would also suspect he probably has opportunities on the table right now that won’t get signed unless he can show that capacity immediately. That’s why we see Hudson on a beach surrounded by women attempting to look like he’s romantically involved with one of them.
It’s ugly. It’s biased on so many different levels and dimensions, and it is also the reality of the industry that Hudson is trying to break down barriers to enter in a meaningful and lasting way.
I’m not offering excuses, but I hope this provides some possible deeper context behind what we’re seeing from Hudson and even indirectly in protection of Connor through this pretty transparent paparazzi moment on the beach. This isn’t just about celebrity and making Hollywood movies - this is about addressing one aspect of many long-standing biases and stereotypes experienced in the entertainment industry.
High on love at HiTops
So for me Connor and Hudson at the HiTops bar last december was definetly the first time I was convinced they are dating.
I mean
Connor was so absolutely gone and the heart eyes were in full force ♥️🤭🤭🤭
How ANYONE can look at these moments and think this is platonic and bestie behaviour ( I always want to gag when I read that phrase 🥴😬) is absolutely beyond me.
Hell everyone at that bar thought they were a couple.
I wonder why😉🙃.
They were so happy and carefree back then...
And Connor was definetly claiming and gatekeeping his man lol.
I mean they were in a gay bar after all😉🤭.
And even though I know thats unfortunatly how Hollywood still operates and works, but how people can look at these moments and think oh cute best friends and then look at the clownshow in greece and think, this is the love story of the century, is absolutely revolting.
When I look at the HiTops moments I see two people who are completly gone and so so in love with each other and they were so proud to show this love.
And I just know in private this hasn't changed at all.
And I hope with all my heart that someday they can show this love proud and open again ♥️🥹❤️🩹
The timeline today is wild today about this photo. Like the pap did them dirty by putting this up. At least it make a good meme.
And let's compare to this.
Lmaooo good morning yall I'm not on for good today yet but I wanted to post this so we could all get a good chuckle☀️☀️☀️
TMZ (Harbinger of Bullsh*t)
I said this yesterday and I think it will remain relevant as everything continues to unfold:
Now, I know people are on edge because it appears that Hudson's team lurks on social media, and they've kind of showed their hand with their recent behavior that they do. However, I don't think us pointing out inconsistencies is truly going to make them up the ante on this mess. If it does, it simply confirms the manufactured nature of all this and proves our point that we're being gaslit.
I'm not worried about what Hudson's team sees or doesn't see. I'm not worried about what ideas they have or get. The fact that you would even have to get an idea on how to make your client appear in love with their long-term girlfriend tells me everything I need to know.
Back at the height of the C/F nonsense in February, we got that TMZ article and pap pictures, of Connor and F in that restaurant. It was during the first week of February, and the picture had actually been taken earlier in the week but wasn't published until Friday. It was a fake as everything else in that narrative, but one thing about it stood out to me. Up until that point, some of us were trying really hard to remind people that every appearance between Connor and F at the time was work related, not some "date night" or event where Connor was choosing to be seen with F. There were no candid photos of them just hanging out. The next thing you know, we get the TMZ article and pictures of them "casually" hanging out at dinner. I know someone is going to say, "What about when they went to that restaurant in NYC?" Even that was promotion. Them being seen at the restaurant in LA seemed like certain people (F and his team. I still refuse to think Connor was actively part of it like people still believe) were lurking and taking notes on how to feed the narrative that they were together. However, in my opinion going that far was the beginning of the end.
Shortly after we got F being at the Cultured Magazine dinner for Connor's magazine cover. They took a few photos together not touching, and they didn't even sit at the same table, and again, work related event, not some "hard launch" or private dinner date. Then we got Hudcon SNL, followed by Connor icing F out at the GLAAD Awards and not even attempting to interact with F at the Madonna Oscars After Party, with Hudson being between them the entire time. And that was that. We haven't seen Connor and F publicly since then, and only the crazy shippers are still seeing "signs" that they're "together."
No matter what we see next on the H/K front that Beach "photoshoot" was a hot ass mess, and having TMZ cover it (and not even spell her name right, when her government name has been blasted everywhere since March 🙃) lets me know, that just like with C/F, when you have to stoop to using TMZ to prove a point, a point that Hudson's photo dump, and puff pieces by ELLE magazine apparently couldn't prove, you've ran out of ideas and options. Anything further is adding insult to injury and invites more speculation than confirmation (confirmation that shouldn't be needed anyway.)
Currently it appears that the "team" of "merry" travelers has landed in London, and honestly, I don't give a fuck. The shared sentiment among some including myself is that until this never-ending "vacation" whether work-related or for leisure ends, we would like to see less of Hudson unless it's related to his projects. We've had enough of his "private" life. That's why I don't care to keep track of his location via his team because they're all a part of this and I'm tired of seeing them too 🤣.
However, whatever tricks his management thinks they have left in their bag to sell this "long term" relationship, I feel like TMZ was them showing they had nothing left, and whatever we see next is of no concern. The only thing that seems to concern most of us is that none of this seems authentic to who Hudson is and it's probably draining on him mentally, and for that reason, I understand people's anxiety and worry. But the whole narrative itself, just block and dodge that shit like you're Neo in the Matrix. Out of sight, out of mind.
I’ve seen many dumb PR teams, but tbh this is the first time I’ve come across one that’s so queerphobic and yet still deluding itself lol.
The Case of the Best Friend Heart 🧐
I'm coming back to this, because it's almost 6 months later and people are still resorting to Olympic level mental gymnastics to give a logical reason for a man to include another man, in a Valentine's collage for his long-term gf, a collage that was supposed to "hard launch" her to the public no less. Let's take a look at some of the comments and dissect some of the gymnastics shall we. 👇🏽
No, absolutely not. If that's your long-term girlfriend, you stand ten toes down and just post her. Respectfully and I'm including myself in this, but who gives a fuck about the Fandom if this is truly your partner that you've been with since Heck was pup? Why would you need to reassure the Fandom that you love your best friend on Valentine's Day in a post for your girlfriend. Especially, because as I've mentioned in a previous post, he could've just shown Connor love on Connor's birthday which was also in February, something Connor's other best friend Bailey actually did. There truly is no other reason besides the obvious to have included Connor.
Again no. You don't joke like that in a post for a long-term partner on a romantic holiday. People really love being obtuse because they know good and well if their partner tried some shit like this, they'd be at least a little upset, confused, if not outright pissed. If you want to even begin to make this argument, then wouldn't it make more sense to use a friend he's known a long time like Zack, or Kalem, people she's also known for a long time. Not the new best friend Hudson has only known for a few months and that we all know because we watched them play intense lovers in an extremely popular show? Also, I checked Aika's story that day and she had a cute post with her wife, she didn't include Hudson in it and that's her new bestie, right? Big G and Little G? My best friend since childhood posted her boyfriend on IG stories for Valentine's Day too and do you think I or any of her other friends were in it? No.
Ah yes, my favorite, "You guys are weird and being parasocial OMG!" argument. Questioning things is never weird, and blind acceptance because you're afraid of appearing weird or wrong is dangerous. I've often said that we've only arrived at this point of discussion because of Hudson and Connor's actions, and I don't mean that in a negative way either. The question shouldn't be why we are discussing Connor being included in this collage and coming to the conclusion that people are weird for having said question. It truly should be what the OP posted. Why include Connor with a heart around his head in this particular collage. Like I said the answer is obvious, and we wouldn't still be thinking about it almost 6 months on without Hudson putting it in our head in the first place, and then of course repeating it again post CSA's.
We don't know Hudson personally; however, a repetitive behavior would seem to indicate a certain intention. Just like everything we've seen lately has been designed to convey one thing about H/K's relationship. I think drawing a heart around your "best friends" head after including him in a Valentine's Day collage for your long-term gf, and then doing it again, after sharing an award with the Honorary Canadian, who wasn't even present at the Award Show might mean something. Because on the surface yes, you could say he just wanted to include his best friend to show his love (Valentine's Day) or to show his appreciation and gratitude (since Connor couldn't be nominated for the same award), but both could've been done in different ways that were more explicitly platonic.
So, the mental gymnastics continue but thank God for screenshots and long memories, because I've never been in any other Fandom that tries this hard to convince people that they haven't seen what they've seen. It's Twilight Zone levels of crazy.
Somebody's Watching Me
You know I wasn't too sure how much Hudson's team lurks on social media, but damn this is weird. I mean it makes sense if you want to control a certain narrative to be aware of what's being said and shared. However, Hudson's team wouldn't have to worry about all of this contradictory evidence being posted if they weren't hellbent on forcing this shit down our throats.
So roughly 20 minutes ago I was on Twitter, and I saw a pap picture where K was floating on her back and Hudson' was holding on to her toes, barely touching them and it was the most unnatural weirdest looking thing. Especially when compared to the fact that while on set for the pool scene in Episode 5 Hudson was laying on top of Connor. Anyway, I thought that picture is so bad, let me go back and screen shot for evidence. Now it's gone. That quick. I saw earlier where people were saying additional pictures kept being taken down and then reposted.
Now I know for sure Hudson's team overplayed their hand with this beach stunt. That was the worst idea they've had so far and it might be the one to truly bite them in the ass. As I've mentioned before when referencing the Birdcage, Don't Add, Subtract. They always do this. Release something that is good enough for the GP to believe, only to be contradicted almost immediately after with photo/video evidence of how much Hudson avoids her unless it's for the cameras and posing.
Okay, as I was writing this, I went to check Twitter again and I saw someone else post the picture, but it's not the full picture where you can see that it's her toes. If someone else has it and wants to link it, they can. I saw other people say they got screen shots. Which, I'm glad about because people treat every sighting of Hudcon together, as if it needs a whole dossier of evidence to prove it happened. However, where H/K is concerned we're never supposed to question anything? Even when evidence comes out in real time contradicting the narrative? I don't think so. That is what is truly delusional.
Alright, let's see what tomorrow holds, after all of these turn of events 🫠🎪.
Edit: @mediocrelove put the website alloverpress.fi in the comments. I went to the website with the full grid again and I saw it. It looks like when people try and share it on Twitter it's getting taken down.
Edit: Another edit @69gayworm69 sent a better picture.
The whole series of pictures is just so sad, like damn, the most unnatural thing. Not to mention he looked happier hugging Aika than K, but I digress. We already know it's a shitshow.
Never expect that pic to be THIS bad
Three Sides, No Winners
I feel like the whole thing has become a bit out of control and has drifted slightly away from the original situation. H's team, K and H all seem to want different things from this, but it all turned into a comedy in the end 🤷🏻♀️
Disclaimer: All speculation, NO evidence, just for laugh
-------- Team --------
They want a straight-man narrative, probably because H is a POC, played the bottom, is Canadian, or whatever combination of reasons which is not the main topic of discussion here. For the team, K was basically a readymade option, which saved them a lot of time and effort. I doubt if they even approached H or K with a proper plan of 'bearding' or whatever narrative in their brain at first. They probably just accepted and started using the narrative around Dec/Jan, after K had already been leaked. I genuinely don't know why they're so committed to pushing the old-fashioned conservative heterosexual narrative, but that does seem to be their ultimate goal.
I think it might mainly be his Canadian team or somewhere there, because one of H's CAA agent is a married gay man and the other has another bisexual client who literally just came out. H has also become quite close to C's team since they met, and that team is full of gay men as well 🤣
I really can't stand this sort of old-fashioned, narrow-minded and homophobic narrative from the last century. We're no longer in the age of newspapers. Do you really think we will just believe them because of a couple of photos? OMG We've got our own eyes of course we can tell what they're thinking and doing. -------- K --------
I think their relationship was relatively okay during the first couple of years, but there were probably more conflicts and arguments towards the end if assuming the Van anon is legit. They probably called it ❌ at some point in 2025 but remained friends afterwards. They went to a concert with Sam in Aug, and she did the matching tattoo for H and C in Sept. I also believe H went to her house for Xmas? They share quite a few mutual friends so it's not exactly a situation where they could simply block each other and cut all ties.
When HR started being promoted, I think it was initially a mixture of fans digging up her account and discovering her connection to H and some jealousy on her part over his sudden success? It's quite complicated because so many things blew up within such a short space of time. She also vaguely posted something about HR in her IG story if I remember correctly? Then probably mostly likely K and her friends decided to leak that Twilight video on TT (just a personal guess as that video was from girl C).
Her position and that of her friends are quite controversial here. They knew H and K had broken up and that it was very unlikely they would ever get back together, but they still wanted to emphasise that 'couple' narrative, whether for fame influence money or whatever else. K and her friends could simply have said, 'Yes, we were together, but we’re not together any more and we're still friends.' But they didn't lol.
Then she was approached to get involved in the heterosexual narrative and of course she agreed. Free fame luxury trips money whatever and perhaps still a tiny bit of hope that he might come back to her lol.
Then K realised that H didn't actually want to play this game. Before the Met, things still seemed okay? not brilliant but definitely not terrible either. His attitude changed significantly after the Met and the infamous coach meeting though. She now seems extremely conflicted about the entire situation. She doesn't appear to get on particularly well with his new friends except perhaps ...Alex? H completely ignored her in a way that looked quite bad and she was also seemingly 'forced' to take some pictures with him, only for him to post the ugliest one of her on his IG. I'm genuinely curious about how she feels at the moment.
-------- H finally!! --------
He knows he needs a branding strategy and a public narrative distinct from C's. He probably also understood that, at that particular moment in Dec/Jan, presenting a heterosexual story was the safest option at that moment. FC/C's ex/dumping K would not have looked good either.
He wasn't completely happy about it of course, but he went along with it in the most rebellious way possible like drawing hearts, leaving comments, mentioning C 🤣
I believe the Met was the beginning of the chaos, or, more specifically, the infamous sink pic. This is only my opinion, but I don't think he posted 'stop RPF' entirely of his own accord. He could simply have deleted the picture, we were more than happy with the bathroom couple photo (alone)! But he didn't. Even after all, he deleted everything else from Threads instead of deleting that picture. It gives the same energy as unfollowing everyone just so you can unfollow one particular person.
His team was probably furious about it. If I remember correctly, that was also when loads of articles with titles like 'Why HudCon Are Besties' and 'A Look at HudCon’s Friendship' suddenly started appearing.
The team then probably pushed K into the CSA and PFW appearances, which made H even more angry and annoyed. If we remember DM mentioned he will have a holiday break in Jul to make some progress with their relationship. He might partially blame K for pushing the narrative, which is, in a way, not completely incorrect? None of this would have happened if she hadn't been leaked in the first place.
------- Of course C here to wrap up--------
I definitely believe C knows about all of this sh*t and is solely 100% supporting H through it. I wouldn't necessarily call it H 'sacrificing himself' to hide the HudCon relationship, but both boys clearly know that they were always going to have to deal with this kind of thing at some point in their careers. Luckily, they have each other and they both seem incredibly supportive and understanding. We've seen them being each other's emotional support many times. 😭
-------- What's next? --------
If they wanna continue this narrative, I will laugh out immediately. I won't give any new ideas on how to push this narrative because I wanna see more jokes coming out 👀
Tbh the simplest approach is not simply stop talking about it. Stop publishing this kind of homophobic and biphobic rubbish in magazines, and just let the whole circus die down gradually.
I’m genuinely so tired of this stale, homophobic, biphobic, straightbloke narrative. I have no idea how long they plan to keep flogging it, but it's painfully obvious that nobody is buying it in this at all 🤷🏻♀️🤷🏻♀️🤷🏻♀️🤷🏻♀️🤷🏻♀️
No fan wants to watch a 'couple' who seemingly can't stand each other attempting to kiss on a beach (and not even managing to actually kiss🤣). Please STOP this constant emphasis on his sexuality and private life. Literally nobody cares. The harder you push it, the more people are going to push back out of this narrative.
Hi Miss Sassy, journalist anon here! Let's continue our thought experiment.
Imagine a PR agency wants to position its client as a heterosexual leading man and decides that the best way to achieve this is by creating a highly visible public relationship.
What measures would you expect?
Public appearances together at events? Check. Being photographed together at a concert? Check. The actor posting about his girlfriend on social media? Check. Paparazzi "catching" them kissing on vacation? Check… well, almost.
What would be next? A glossy magazine feature about their happy relationship? A romantic dinner spotted by photographers? Engagement rumors after she is seen wearing a suspicious-looking ring?
I am deliberately writing this as if it were following a screenplay, because that is exactly how an overly scripted PR campaign can begin to feel. Once audiences recognize a pattern, they stop focusing on the story itself and start paying attention to the strategy behind it.
This is where many traditional publicity campaigns run into a problem.
The playbook belongs to the early 2000s.
Back then, celebrity narratives were largely shaped by newspapers, television, and gossip magazines. Journalists decided which photographs the public would see, and celebrities had relatively little direct contact with their audiences.
Today, that world no longer exists.
Public opinion is no longer created primarily by entertainment journalists. It is shaped on Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, blogs, Reddit, and countless fan accounts. Every public appearance is recorded from multiple angles. Every event produces dozens of fan videos. Within minutes, people compare official photographs with what they have seen themselves.
And unlike traditional media, this conversation cannot be centrally controlled.
Now consider the consequences within our thought experiment.
The more aggressively the campaign tries to convince the public of a particular romantic narrative, the more closely people begin examining it.
Fans compare paparazzi photos with fan-recorded videos. They notice inconsistencies between official images and spontaneous interactions. They compare interviews, social media posts, and public appearances.
Sometimes they begin asking a simple question: "Why are we constantly hearing about this person's private life instead of their work?"
The problem is not necessarily the relationship itself. The problem is credibility.
Imagine, for example, that the actor wins a major award. His supposed girlfriend is sitting right beside him, yet he gets up without even acknowledging her. Viewers immediately begin discussing the moment online.
Or imagine he posts a photo of her on Instagram but chooses an unflattering image rather than a warm, affectionate picture.
Or imagine he shares a collage featuring both his girlfriend and his co-star, but places a red heart around the co-star's photo instead.
None of these moments proves anything about the actor's private life.
However, from a communications perspective, they undermine the narrative the campaign is trying to establish because they create conflicting signals. Once audiences start noticing those inconsistencies, every new photo is interpreted through that lens.
In our hypothetical example, the actor is sitting on a powder keg.
At that point, the smartest strategy would be to move the conversation back to what actually matters professionally.
Is there a new film? An exciting role? An award campaign? A major interview about the craft of acting?
Those are the stories that build a lasting career.
By contrast, an endless stream of relationship headlines risks creating fatigue. Fans and ordinary readers may become increasingly skeptical if they feel they are constantly being asked to believe a carefully managed narrative instead of simply being shown the actor's work.
Experienced entertainment journalists notice these dynamics as well.
They may never publish accusations about a celebrity's private life, and they generally should not. But behind the scenes they recognize familiar publicity patterns because they have seen similar campaigns before. They understand the mechanics of image management, even if they choose not to write about them.
The greatest risk is not necessarily that people reject the relationship. The greater risk is that they begin questioning the publicity strategy itself.
Once that happens, the actor's work is no longer the main topic of conversation. The campaign becomes the story.
From a communications perspective, that would usually be considered a sign that the strategy has failed.
We can’t stress enough: Perhaps the biggest mistake in our thought experiment is assuming that the public still consumes celebrity stories the way it did twenty years ago. It does not. The audience has changed.
Every fan carries a high-definition camera in their pocket. Every event, concert, vacation or award ceremony is documented from dozens of different angles. What used to be a single carefully selected photograph has become hundreds of videos uploaded within minutes.
That fundamentally changes the balance of power.
Official photographs no longer exist in isolation. They are immediately compared with fan footage, eyewitness accounts, livestreams, and social media posts. Audiences no longer consume a narrative, they verify it.
Authentic moments spread just as quickly as staged ones. But if a campaign appears overly orchestrated, fans will often notice the inconsistencies long before journalists write about them. Online communities compare timelines, archive interviews, analyse public appearances, and connect details that would have disappeared unnoticed twenty years ago.
Ironically, the very people a campaign is trying to persuade can become its toughest critics.
That is why modern PR is no longer about controlling every image. In many cases, that is simply impossible. The less a public narrative appears to require constant proof, the more believable it becomes.
The most valuable lesson from this thought experiment is about understanding that the audience has fundamentally changed.
A strategy that relied on carefully staged photographs might have worked in 2005, when the public saw only what editors chose to publish. In 2026, the public often sees everything and that changes the rules completely. In 2026, trying to control every aspect of the narrative is almost impossible. There are too many cameras, too many people documenting events, and too many ways for audiences to notice inconsistencies. A carefully managed sense of privacy is often more effective than an aggressively promoted storyline. Most importantly, the focus should remain on the actor's talent, his projects, and the range of roles he can play. The strongest long-term strategy is not to convince people of a constructed image. It is to build a career where the work speaks louder than the speculation.
Journalist anon is back everyone!!! Come get yall's food❤️
Completely agree with you anon, it's an old-fashioned branding strategy and I can't believe there are still ppl believing it would eventually work omg

This is It
I believe I've shared this post before, but below is the first post I ever made on my blog. It was at the height of the frenzy around C/F, and I was trying to make sense of everything.
https://www.tumblr.com/afro-star/806859285973860352/i-tend-to-spiral-before-i-come-to-my-final
I try to infuse a lot of humor into my musings and posts, but I spiral like anybody else, and it can get ugly. I just don't think that needs to be shared with y'all, because we all come here for fun. But trust me I've had my thoughts. However, let me share some of my more detailed thoughts as to how I view what's currently going on.
December: The minute Hudson and Connor started getting questions about their sexuality while doing press I knew this was going to be a shitshow. That's why I'll never forgive Jordan Firstman for stirring up that mess about Connor and Hudson's sexuality and then HBO Max sending Hudson to clean it up when it wasn't his fault in the first place. What happened as a result was Connor hanging out with Francois and his sister, that video being taken of them walking, DM posting it and doxxing K in conjunction with that TikTok leaker account and here we are in July still dealing with the fallout. I always felt that this constant obsession about who Hudson and Connor were "dating" was a backwards way of getting them to come out either way and just say if they were Gay or Straight. Which, by the way, even though we all speculate, neither has confirmed what they are so the desire to force them to speak on it has always been bullshit to me.
Hudson and K: How you view Hudson and K right now depends on how you viewed them back in December when she got doxxed and revealed as the "girlfriend that we all knew about." I've said this before, but I think it's important to be clear now. I have never even after Valentine's Day, and the Vanity Fair After Party thought that K was Hudson's girlfriend, that they are currently dating, or that they have ever dated in the past.
I don't believe they had an on/off relationship, or an open relationship. I don't believe any romantic feelings were ever there. That's why I draw the parallels so much to Connor and Bailey. Not because I think Hudson and K are close like that (I did think that before this current sideshow 🤡) but because people have allowed pictures to paint such a specific narrative of Hudson and K that the cognitive dissonance of them in person is like an atom bomb going off, because it just doesn't match up. I always thought it was weird that before he did the Valentine's Day IG story and before Hudson said the word girlfriend in the GRWM video, that people were so sure that she was his girlfriend. Circling back to Connor and Bailey, closeness and intimacy between a man and woman does not automatically equal a romantic relationship, and Hudson and K have even less chemistry than Connor and Bailey and we know they're just friends.
Because I believe they were never, nor are they currently a couple, albeit a toxic one, I'm not expecting them to "break up". I'm expecting for the charade to end. Whatever closeness was there prior to December is dead now in my opinion. I see two people who appear to have once been very close look like they have completely outgrown each other and are trying to fit themselves back into whatever they were before Hudson's fame and popularity, and it has been excruciating to watch.
K: Since you get called a misogynist no matter what you say, I'm going to say what I want. From what I've seen not what I know, I don't like her energy. She seems to smirk rather than smile in her public appearances with Hudson, and as I mentioned in previous posts there's only so many times, we can catch you in a bad mood or an off day. She gives me the ick. I don't think she ever was Hudson's girlfriend, I think she was Hudson's closest friend for a longtime and she was not able to handle him outgrowing her and his sudden fame taking him outside of the box they existed in back in Vancouver. I especially don't think she's ever been jazzed about Connor taking up the top spot in Hudson's life romantically, emotionally, and simply being a very good friend and confidant to Hudson.
He's Gay: I'm simply saying this to lead into this topic, but the reality is that there is a high likelihood that Hudson is Queer. Whether he's Gay or Bisexual, or unlabeled doesn't really matter because he's shown in words and actions that he does fall somewhere under that big Queer umbrella, that a lot of us find ourselves under as well in this Fandom. Some of my mutuals have spoken more eloquently than I have about this, but there is a reason why Hudson can't be more "out" right now. It has a lot to do with something I've mentioned before in regard to Hudson's sexuality, which is intersectionality.
Hudson is a Person of Color and possibly Queer. He's a Half-Asian man but perceived as Asian completely and that comes with its own set of stereotypes and expectations. Hudson wants I'm sure to have a long career in Hollywood, and while it's obvious based on his previous work before Heated Rivalry, that he appreciates Queer Art and making Queer Art, Hollywood is Hollywood, and how he navigates that and presents himself is own unfortunate problem to deal with. We should just send positive energy his way that he's able to navigate this better going forward, but this man just turned 25 and blew up overnight, this is not infantilize him but to extend him the grace that I think we should, no matter how much all of this upsets us, I'm sure suppressing himself upsets him more, but he probably feels he has to do this, possibly for a greater reward at the end.
Now, speaking of being Gay, that shit today? No offence but it made him look even more Gay. And now he's out partying not looking an ounce like the "straight boyfriend" persona we were being force fed a couple of hours ago. If there were natural attraction and closeness, even residual romantic feelings to tap into from a previous relationship between the two, then it would've been easy for him to tap into it today. The feelings are simply not there and I'm not surprised. Remember the last time we saw her with her "assets" on full display at the Vanity Fair Oscar Party, Hudson didn't look at her once like she was the "baddie" people claim she is. Rather he got downright giddy to see Connor with his chest out in a sheer shirt. Hudson's attraction leans male, and more specifically for one man.
Connor: This is a man who literally said that the moment he saw Hudson in the Chemistry Read that Hudson was his, and that he was his soulmate. This is also a man who had someone from his past, basically out him. Connor has been navigating that breach of trust ever since then, including having another costar insert himself into a false narrative about the two of them that further fractured Connor's trust. I believe that Connor and Hudson are going through everything together, not passively watching the other one be a part of a story they don't want. If they weren't doing this together, we would've seen them break by now. I'm not saying that any of this makes sense, just that I don't think Connor is sitting somewhere like Ilya scrolling through gossip sites and getting upset and blindsided about what he's seeing. Now, make no mistake I think Connor is upset, but not at Hudson or because he thinks any of this real, but he and Hudson are probably both frustrated to find themselves in this position in the first place.
Now let me close with this. In June after the umpteenth attempt to cancel Hudson, there was a distinct quietness from Hudson. Now of course, at the beginning of the month this probably had something to do with said attempt to cancel him. I, however, still think that pieces were being moved and plans were being finalized in the quiet that ensued when we didn't know where Hudson was, until he popped up whether in private (Atlanta) or in public in (LA, Vancouver, NYC).
Lastly, the last time Hudson put on a performance with K was at the CSA's. Right after he gushed about Connor at the Bell Media Upfront Event before going to Atlanta where Connor was filming. I don't care if it's a stretch, but maybe Hudson's performance these past weeks, has been to keep everyone looking one way, while he slips off in another direction to see someone before Season 2 starts filming. These are two men who can't go more than 2-3 weeks without seeing each other and we're coming up on that 2-week mark soon. Think about it 👇🏽.
Alright I'm turning in. But as we prepare to see whatever else we see in the coming weeks, I only have one rule.
Sorry the Sci-Fi nerd in me had to use this one again 🤣. Alright I'm out.
