i love angry remus but remus that learned to control his emotions because he’ll never just be an angry boy to others and his wolf side that did not catch this memo and is very unhappy and makes it known whenever sirius purposefully tries to make remus jealous pre-wolfstar

we need to get rid of the idea (especially in the context of fics) that if a character is in other meaningful relationships before the endgame one, then it's not as good. and they're not truly soulmates or whatever. let people love multiple people throughout their lives. it doesn't take away value from the endgame ship.

everyone would be wildly confused by marpanlily soley because the year and house difference means that rarely are all three seen together, someone mentions how cute mary and lily are only for their friend to turn around extremely confused because ‘what? but mary and pandora are dating what do you mean’

james was not the mother hen of the marauders im sorry yall. that boy is an ONLY CHILD, he has NO idea how to guve a fuck about anything that doesnt directly impact him. on top of that he was a rainbow baby too?? spoiled as shit and completely uncompromising because he had never been told no before hogwarts.

sirius, on the other hand, had been responsible for Regulus since birth. he was THE older brother(tm), that boy would scold them for not taking care of themselves while actively brewing a farting potion on their bathroom floor because being an older brother is all about balance.

the real reason i love talking about sirius as padfoot and regulus as a cat animagus is because cats and dogs are not very difficult to understand once you understand their body language- here are two characters, incredibly different but with one very obvious similarity being that they grew up in an abusive environment together and have been left with incredibly high walls around themselves and the ability to hide or stamp down certain emotions they were never safe enough to express and suddenly the same characters are animals. a dog and a cat that express fear as naturally as they feel it, that don’t have to hide who they feel comfortable being touched by, that ask for attention if they’re feeling brave, that physically hide or run when they want to, that can easily express when they’re feeling content, sirius and regulus that have the freedom to just feel and connect with the people around them without second guessing it because they are not truly themselves and within that, are truly themselves

“Reggie. Love, I have to go,” James murmured weakly into messy curls, not moving a centimeter as he enjoyed the warmth of the boy he was currently holding in his arms.

“Nnph,” a small, sleepy voice mumbled from under a blanket. Two arms moved to quickly wind their way around his waist and grip him like a vice.

A few months ago, James might not have understood what that meant. But now, having been Regulus Black’s boyfriend for almost half a year (half a year, oh Merlin!) he spoke sleep-Regulus fluently.

“Yeah, love,” he whispered, his heart cracking in two. “‘Ve got practice. But I’ll see you later, yeah?”

“Nnph, s’here,” was the garbled reply that made James smile even more. Gods, he loved Regulus like this. When coherent, the Sytherin would of course rather die than be needy. But half-asleep? He clung onto James like a koala, demanding cuddles like they were the only thing that could sustain him.

“Baby, I’ll stay over again tonight, okay? I’ll even bring you your favorite chocolate, yeah? I just…I really have to go…” he nearly-whined. He didn’t want to be the one to break Regulus’s hold. The thought of doing so made him want to cry.

The bribe of chocolate, though, seemed to be enough to reason with sleep-Regulus. The arms around him loosened.

“‘Ve fun,” the boy mumbled, rolling over. “Love you.”

James froze, still as a statue, his eyes wide as saucers. 

Neither of them had ever said that before.

“I…Reg? What’d you say?” he asked, heart hammering so quickly against his ribcage he wondered if such a thing could bruise. “You…you what, my love?”

But the next noise out of Regulus’s mouth wasn’t a word. It was a soft snore.

James’s tense body slowly relaxed onto the mattress. He lifted himself up onto his elbow to look at the boy next to him. Smiling and pressing a gentle kiss to Regulus’s cheek, he murmured, “I love you. So much.”

Then, he rose and began to creep from the room.

It was only once he got to the door, he heard a very awake Regulus say, “Potter, what did you just say?”

i love that at some point someone saw james and sirius’ homoerotic codependent friendship and decided that regulus deserved one too

i’ve posted about ghost regulus before but if regulus is brought back to grimmauld by kreacher and actually dies there i think it creates a fascinating similarity in one brother that never figured out how to leave home in life finding himself once again stuck there in death and the other that once again left home when he shouldn’t have finds himself for the second time jailed away from his loved ones

THIS but Sirius is the one who finds ghost Regulus, the first human who ever speaks to him. His soul is chained to the house he could never escape and after somewhat being with his brother for two years he realises that his brother will never come back to him. Even in death, Regulus lost his brother.
