honestly, while I like the ship just fine, I think Stucky would be more compelling if it just didn’t work out in the 21st century because both of them now have this idealized and pedestalized version of the other (Bucky representing the life Steve wants to but can’t go back to, Steve representing Bucky’s freedom and ties to his humanity). I just think it’s better if they try to go back to normal, but are unable to due to the ways they’ve changed and their inability to see each other as people
