Batboys Mental Health
Dick Grayson - The most mentally healthy of all the bats, but that isn’t to say he doesn’t have anything. Like most people. he has depressive times, which is completely normal. He may also experience bouts of anxiety at times, also completely normal. I believe he has ADHD. Has to move around, at least a little, or he starts to lose his cool. Can be impulsive or aggressive at times, usually on slow days when much isn’t happening. Gets excited easily, he has to be weary of it on missions before he gets too jumpy. Probably takes meds for it given that he has to pay attention at work, or he will miss something vital. He is pretty good at dealing with it now that he is older.
Jason Todd - Jason clearly has PTSD. On top of this, he has manic depression. Mood swings, irritability, sometimes apathetic, risk-taking behaviours, impulsivity, anger and sadness are all things Jason clearly suffers from, which are symptoms of Bipolar Depression. Jason has a wide array of mental health problems, most of which go unaddressed by himself, his family, and doctors. Meaning that Jason suffers alone in his life, only making things worse. I think his mental health problems are amplified when he’s alone. Not to mention the anger issues he has dealt with since he was a child.
Tim Drake - Anxiety and OCD. Not the type of OCD where he is organised, or afraid of germs (this type is valid not trying to discredit it) but more the obsessive part. In the way that he was obsessed with making Gotham a utopia and would do anything to reach that goal. I also think he has intrusive thoughts, made worse by the Joker and Ra’s al Ghul. They put ideas into his head, and inevitably, they become intrusive thoughts, making Tim think that those thoughts become true and that it is an unavoidable future for him when that isn’t the case at all. To distract himself, he absorbs himself in his work, never taking breaks, not even to sleep.
Damian Wayne - He is still pretty young, so it’s hard to tell but I think he has mild to moderate depression; irritability, disinterest in socialising, hard to find empathy for others, wanting to be left alone. Some of these things Damian has shown, but its hard to tell if it’s just his upbringing, or a result of having split parents (one of which is an assassin.)
