I dont think art is for escapism. I dont think art should exist solely to comfort or entertain. And I don't think I should have eaten this party size bag of jalapeno chips.

Books about polar expeditions are always called All The Dead People Who Died On The Most Deadly Journey Ever At the Poles: the Doomed Final Expedition of John Doomedtodieonaboat Where He Died and the reviews are all like 'wow this story was so gripping I just had no idea what was going to happen to Captain Doomedtodieonaboat'
does anyone know if we have locking in today
no it was canceled. today we are taking things as they come and doing exactly what feels right
btw for Terror fans/people interested in Franklin who want to read books that include greater focus on First Nations perspectives, I enjoyed Searching for Franklin: New Light on History's Worst Arctic Disaster by Ken McGoogan, which was published in 2023. though McGoogan is a journalist and not a historian, he knew and was personal friends with Louie Kamookak, the late pioneer of Inuit oral history who played a huge role in the discovery of the Franklin wrecks. a lot of Searching for Franklin is a tribute to Kamookak and explores his work and life and touches on how the Canadian residential school system affected him, his family, and his community, especially in and around Gjoa Haven. it's been a minute since I read it but I recall it being enlightening and a good starting point if you don't know much (yet!) about how the Franklin story dovetails with Inuit history
