So why do you call your daughter boobah? I have also nickname my little girl boobah! Curious as to what inspired you to nickname her that and see if it is similar to mine 😊

The nickname actually came from her nanny. When she was a few weeks old and really learning about her arms she would punch and Gab would say ‘bah’ every time she did it. It was the first sound she repeated as well. After a while Gab added boo to it and started calling her Boobah which I picked up on. It’s also a very hilarious and trippy children’s show that Gab had no idea about until I showed her it. So now it’s just the little boobahs nickname!

Friday May 19th 2017 Dear Nicky, We're still here at Grandma and Pops house! We're here until Sunday and then back home to Brooklyn. It's weird being here but also really nice and relaxing. You have been loving having a yard to play in. Grandma got you the lion walker and you can take a few steps then either stop or fall on your butt. I'm so proud of you! You did figure out you can crawl up to the front and play with it. You just don't care about crawling at all, you do it but you just want to get up and walk. The photos are from the past couple of days. You're just so beautiful my boobah. -Mommy

Tuesday May 16th 2017

Dear Nicky,

We’ve been spending the week at Grandma and Pops on Long Island. I was a little nervous about pulling you out of your routine and environment but you’ve been great. We’re here to watch your two year old cousin Arianna because your great Grandma and Grandpa are in Las Vegas. Your Aunt drops Anna off pretty early in the morning so you’re waking up earlier but I noticed you’ll nap at the same times but just a bit longer. You’ve been so excited to have your cousin to play with all day. It’s beautiful out so we’ve been spending a lot of time playing in the yard. Grandma has been so excited to have you here everyday instead of just Wednesday’s and weekends. Last night I learned that we sadly need to retire your 3 month old clothes. You were fitting them and last night you became too tall. You’re growing so fast I wish I could slow time down, even just a little bit.

Dear Nicky,

So I guess THIS is a thing now. You’re only five months old, slow down!!!! You just do not want to wait to walk. I’m so nervous now because you’re pulling yourself up in your crib and that’s a little crazy. I have to really watch you because I’m afraid you’ll flip out of it. Then you were throwing a fit in the store because you didn’t want to sit in your carriage, you wanted to push it. I don’t know what to do little boobah. You just want to grow up faster than I want you to.

Friday May 5th 2017

Dear Nicky,

You started eating actually foods the past two weeks and you are LOVING it. All of the yummy new flavors! As of right now your top fruits are avocados, apples, pumpkin and pears and your top vegetables are kale, sweet potatoes, squash and green beans.  You’ve tried other things but I’ve noticed you get excited and want more immediately when eating those. I’m staying away from red meats until you’ve had at least two or three good months eating, you’ve had chicken and loved it. Maybe a bit of TMI but now that you’re eating food you are pooping and farting more which is just lovely. You think it’s hilarious when you fart, you just start hysterically laughing and I know what’s up. I can’t wait to start trying new exciting things with you boobah! No matter how smelly the diaper ;).

Dear Nicky,

We take the LIRR [commuter train] out to Long Island every Wednesday so I can go to my therapist/psychiatrist appointments. It takes about a a half hour to forty minutes to get there which means I need to fill that time for you. I couldn’t help but smile [and laugh] that you looked like such a little lady. You HAD to have your purse with all your stuff in it, and you HAD to wear it. You also played games and watched shows on your iPad which can keep you entertained for a while. I just love you so much boobah and you are growing up way too fast. The lady sitting across the aisle didn’t believe you were only about to be five months and I had to agree you are very advanced.  

We don’t take the train home though, because your Grandma gets us from the train and takes me to my appointments. You spend some quality time with Grandma and then she drives us home which is amazing of her to do. Grandma does a lot for us and she’ll never know how appreciative I am for it. I digress that's all for a different post.

Dear Nicky,

Co-sleeping is not something we do too often for many reasons, the main one is I sometimes roll over a lot and I’m afraid I’ll squish you. The other reason is you are getting very mobile and many times I’ve seen you climb right over the pillows and one of my worst fears is you falling off the bed and being harmed. You also seem to really like your crib, I mean you should because I make it nice and comfy and safe for you. But every now and then it seems like we both just need a good cuddle and I love every second of it! I will admit we do nap together a lot.

Dear Nicky,

You had another exciting day at Babies & Books! You found the dog book again and got excited with you found Vladimir [again!]! Your little attitude is definitely starting to come through. You were throwing looks to a kid who was throwing books on the floor. Then we had the whole you trying to walk fiasco [see earlier post]. It was a good day boobah, and I promise I’ll get better at updating these on time but in all fairness I thought I made this post already.

Dear Nicky,

Here’s one thing you’ll never have to doubt. I LOVE Star Wars. It’s something I hope to pass on to you, not just for the fanfare but because of what it means to me. You already love my tattoos, you run your little hands over them, my right arm is a Star Wars sleeve and hopefully by the time you read this it’ll be complete. One day I’ll do an entire post about it and multiple posts about this your first of MANY trips to Disney when you were two weeks old. But for today I’ll just say May the FOURTH be with you!

Hey kid I’ll vouch for you on this one, why you’re crying at Kylo Ren. You didn't cry at most of the characters but this one you had a reason. So when you go meet Kylo Ren you stand behind a wall where you can’t see this area. The workers there saw you and didn’t think to tell Kylo, hey there’s a baby maybe don’t scare them. But instead he jumped out from behind the wall [startled me too baby girl] and there just was no settling you after that. When we go back for your first birthday we’ll give him hell!

Dear Nicky,

I think you need to be reminded you are 4 [almost 5] months old, because you want nothing more than to just take off walking. You do the little army crawl but have zero interest in it. Ever since you realized those little legs were meant to hold you up it’s all you want to do. First it was holding on to both of my hands as I helped you walk around, then it was holding onto to one of my hands as you walked and I was okay with those because I was supporting my little baby. It started the other day when I caught you holding the ledge of your crib and standing up then today at Babies & Books you tried to gain full independence from me, you tried to get me to let go of both of your hands. If you can’t tell by the photos I have a death grip on you because you just wanted me to let go. And no it did not go over my head that you’re in an Elsa dress and want me to let it go. I couldn’t let go boobah, I knew you’d fall right down and I couldn’t let that happen, not yet. We got home and I let you practice on the bed for a little bit, you fell down every time and I was there to catch you. I just thought I would have so much more time of you not being completely mobile, I thought I’d have more time with my little potato. I should have known the baby who rolled herself over the day she was born wasn’t going to stick to anyone’s standards of learning, I knew it but didn’t want to admit it to myself. You may not understand why this freaks me out so much right now, but one day you will. You’re my tiny little boobah and it scares me how quickly you are growing. At the same time I am so proud of you, you amaze me with how determined you can be. You saw a kid walking a few weeks ago when we came to our first Babies & Books and you said yeah I'm going to do that. Look at you now! You’re standing up and ready to take on the world. Mommy will always be so proud of you, secretly terrified , and will always be there to catch you when you fall. My love for you is endless boobah.

I was at Disneyland yesterday and when I walked into the Princess Fantasy Faire I welled up with tears as I witnessed a magical moment with the newest princess Elena of Avalor speaking in full Spanish to a small princess visiting from Latin America.
