It wasn't wrong. Benji knew that Bryce had a kind heart under all those layers of snark and bluntness. This was why he nodded a little bit. âYou aren't wrong. Bryce and I went to school together, we were in the same grade even though he is a year older. He was blind as a child and after his surgery, his parents died and he had to learn how to read properly, that's why he came to my school later. The other kids didn't like him and bullied him. High School wasn't easy for him. I think this made him the way he is now. Though, you are right, he is a good friend. Though, I still don't understand what the thing with his eyes is about.â But he wasn't one of these people here. He was just human. Luckily, he couldn't think about it further because of the majestic Tiger trotting out of the woods with his prey in his jaws. Benji chuckled a bit and waved at his mate.
âGood job, Levi!! Eat well!!! Eli and I go and pick up Bryce.â Benji shouted over to his mate with a smile before turning to Eli. âLevi is busy. Let's get Bryce then.â He showed Eli the message he received where Bryce confirmed that he was fine and that he'll come to the location mentioned. âCome on. I can't miss out on the opportunity of becoming a matchmaker for you.â
Levi let out a sound of understanding before using a claw to rip into what he had caught. He wasn't all that hungry; but the younger shifters were not allowed to hunt. He ripped out big chunks of meat for each of them before laying down and licking blood from his paws.
Eli smiled at Levi.
"He's a natural caregiver, that one. Yea, lets go. My car is this way."
Standing, he led Benji through the house and towards a garage. His car was a blue jeep. Unlocking the door, he opened it for Benji before getting in the driver's side.
"Where are we meeting him?"
the-raven-dhampirâ:
Raven took both Leviâs hands into his own and he stood up dragging him along. Once the Other was standing too, Raven got closer to his face. âThen Iâll be the perfect boyfriend for you.â He pecked Leviâs cheek, gently. âAt least for tonight.â
Raven made his way upstairs to the ground floor, still holding Leviâs hand. It was strange to have someone there with him, Raven very rarely allowed anyone in his house, but this was a special occasion. Once there, they went upstairs again, till a guest room. The cabin style of the house was nothing less precious in that room, rustic but classy.
âThereâs some extra clothes of mine in there.â He nodded towards a wardrobe. âEver heard of Giorgio Armani?â he winked at Levi. âPick something you like and put it on, I hope you like Italian food.â
He stepped out of the room, till an important detail made him retrace his steps. âOh, my name is Raven. Nice to meet you.â
It was as he was pulled along that he realized he was buck ass naked. He blushed vibrantly as he was led to the bedroom, eyes wide when the conjurer mentioned Armani. Surely not! Then again, surely someone with magic would be able to amass a fortune.
He looked around at the clothes, surprised that they were his size. Pulling on a suit in particular...because he really wanted to look good, he shut the wardrobe and found himself wandering until he came upon the kitchen.
âIs uh...is this good?â
He was nervous. Why was he so nervous. Raven essentially owned him. His life was in the otherâs hands and yet...he felt he might be developing a bit of a crush.
the-raven-dhampirâ:
Raven had no idea. Afterlife world had never interested him much, it was actually scary imagining something, anything else after this miserable life. Something eternal maybeâŚ
âI suppose that entirely depends on the Conjurerâs desire to keep you hereâŚâ he openly lied, his lip twitched for an instant. Levi wanted to live and if Raven could make him believe that depended on him, he could have still made him do anything he pleased.â Does it make sense?â he casually asked. But he didnât want things to sound too pressing: the spirit was very pretty and he was eager to open up to him, literally.
âSo⌠Dinner. Would you like to cook? Or to be treated to a chef-made dinner? Your wish is my commandâŚâ
âI donât know how to cook. My mom only allowed my younger sister into the kitchen. My family was very old fashioned. They believed that the men were in control and a womanâs place was to cook and keep the house.â
He shuddered.
âIt was disturbing to me. It always felt wrong.â
His differences had led to his death. His decay. To this moment now. He knew he was a slave to his conjurerâs whims. He knew. But if he could get some kindness first; then he would gladly steal it away before his service began.
âAnd Iâve never been treated to anything before.â
"You sound like every man I've ever met who always seem to think they know better than I know myself. I do not want anything else from you, monsieur. You have told me more than enough for now."
He paused. "I am not hungry. That is to say, as a vampire you will always hunger, but in the years I have been afflicted, I have learned to prolong my thirst. I do not let it control me anymore."
He stood. "I need to go. I am in need of rest."
He had a plan. Oh such a glorious plan. Sadly it required that Louis drink blood. That it be fresh in his veins...so that Levi could steal it. Take it into himself...to wrap it around himself. To absorb it into his phantom body. It would make him stronger. And if he did it enough...well...there was a body without a soul in the hospital that looked attractive enough. He could take it. He could make it his own.
"The sun is still hours away. Why run? Why not feed. I'm curious as to see what it looks like."
"You misunderstand. You would no longer have your body. You would be outside of it. A spirit, wandering the void. Free of bodily restrictions."
He leaned back.
"But I'll answer your questions if I can, either way. Let me think back to what you said. There were so many things so quickly..."
He cleared his throat though he did not have to.
"There are a few versions of vampires, for starters. But it all starts in the same way. A spirit, powerful, and craving blood, enters the body of someone who is dying or who had just died. If the person is dying, they become a sort of...vessel of power, but do not have any consciousness of their own. It's taken over by the still living soul. If the person has recently died, then that spirit becomes the one in charge of the body. Are you still with me? "
He didn't wait for Louis to answer.
"Some are stronger than others, because they are older, or have fed on those that are older. Those closest to the original will be the strongest. Yes, Hell exists, as does heaven. And it is the true nature of the soul that determines where you go."
He frowned now.
"Just because you need to hunt humans to survive does not mean you need to kill, or that you take pleasure in it. Those who thrive on the hunt, on killing, who truly enjoy it; are going to go to Hell. Those who do it to survive, may have a chance at heaven. Others will end as I am. Somewhere in between."
He cleared his throat again.
"Some of this I know because of the nature of what I am. Some I know from other spirits I have spoken with."
gildinbainasâ:
Louis was silent for a long time before he finally offered up a response. âYour explanation sounds plausible enough, but there is still more I wish to know. Who was the first? Why did they decide on humans as opposed to animals? What is the origin of these nasty spirits? You have told me everything and nothing at all.â
He paused. âI suppose it is nice to know that my religious beliefs were not in vain. However, regardless of where I end up, being a vampire sounds infinitely more appealing than wandering the Earth as a lone spirit. You said it yourself â that you have suffered. I have no desire to do even more suffering as some former vampiric soul with no end in sight. Find someone else.â
âOh, there are still things I want for you, Louis. And there are still things you want from me. I canât tell you where these older spirits come from. I doubt even they know. And why not humans? The ones that chose animals...well...they did not end well.â
He chuckled.
âWhen was the last time you fed, Louis? Feed for me. I want to watch. And then...I will tell you everything.â
fallensonabelâ:
âI wouldnât have mentioned it if I didnât.â
Abel continues walking, humming softly and waving a little to some of the other artists present. He even waved to the patrons present and stops in front of a door as he heard Leviâs voice.
The younger couldnât help but smile shyly at that and tilts his head. âI try..I do what I can to help.â As Levi held his hand out again, Abel chuckled as the other male introduced himself again before taking his hand once more.
âAgain, itâs nice to meet you, Levi,â he greets, âIâm Abel. 29 years old, I also like to read and as you can see; draw. Also, yes..I have no problem with that here. Art is about self expression or just the freedom of it.â
With the knowledge of Levi being without a home, Abel opens the door to a decent sized room. It was a simple place and well lived in by the looks of there being papers as well as books scattered about although neatly.
A tear ran down the reaperâs face. Truly, Abel was a good man. And maybe he was developing a little bit of a crush on him. It was hard to say. He had only had interest in one person before, and he had been killed before it could go anywhere. He was still relearning his emotions now that he was back as a reaper.
âI would hug you if you find that acceptable. But we just met and I fear you wouldnât. You have truly been a life saver, Abel. You are truly an amazing person who deserves all good things in life.â
He smiled brightly and brushed the tear away.
âThank you.â
Louis was silent for a long spell, staring down into his wine glass. Sometimes his mind tricks him into thinking he can truly taste the sweet aura of the grapes in liquid form but he knows it's but the mind. Any other time it would taste like nothing. Or maybe it was the humanity inside of him willing food and drink to have some flavor. No matter the case, those were but trivial mysteries in comparison to the other things he longed to know.
"I suppose you can given I have always thought ghosts to be a myth. In all my years of traveling, I have come across wolves and witches, but never an actual spirit."
He paused.
"The answers I seek are many; religious in nature while others pertain to my own affliction. What caused this? What is the origin? Are all vampires the same? What makes some more powerful than others? Are we all doomed to roam hell? Does hell even exist?" He went silent. "I do not expect you to have all of these answers and even if you did, why would I allow you to possess me? Just because life is meaningless for the most part does not mean I wish to be controlled by another until I pass all over again."
"You misunderstand. You would no longer have your body. You would be outside of it. A spirit, wandering the void. Free of bodily restrictions."
He leaned back.
"But I'll answer your questions if I can, either way. Let me think back to what you said. There were so many things so quickly..."

"Some of this I know because of the nature of what I am. Some I know from other spirits I have spoken with."
"Spoken like someone who has always clung to life." He paused. "The only reason I've not cast myself at the mercy of the sun is because there are answers I seek. And until I get them, I'm afraid I won't be satisfied." He paused. "Regardless, no matter how difficult your life may be, I too am a slave to my own. Think what you will of my life, but it changes little about how I feel about it."
"What answers is it you seek? In death, you learn a great many things. The mind opens up. You can see..."
He looked up at the sky above them.
"Far more than even a vampire can see."
He saw the cosmos much more than even the best telescopes could. He closed his eyes when it all became too much. At least he still had that luxury, the luxury of not being able to see when he so chose.
"And if I meet your satisfaction...then perhaps you would be wiling...to let me have your body."

âI wouldnât be able to tell.â
Levi was dead.
As a doornail.
And not in the same way that Louis was dead.
Levi had been murdered by his father, cremated, and his mother had spread his ashes at sea. She was the only one who had loved him after he came out.
âListen, you think you got it bad? For the first three years of my death there was nothing but cold darkness. The endless void. Neither Heaven nor Hell wanted my soul so I got cast back to Earth. To Purgatory. Barely anyone can see me, let alone hear me. You can because of what you are. You think you have it bad. You can still feel, still breathe though you donât need to. Still touch and be touched. Still love and be loved. I get he fucked you up mentally. But I would take the life of a vampire any day over the life of a spirit.â
fallensonabelâ:
âOf course.â
The light blush crossing the otherâs face and seeing his smile had Abel hum in content, holding his sketchbook close to himself before taking a glance around the gallery.
âI wouldnât mind that you did both,â he said quietly, âFeel free to do as you please.â He didnât mind that Levi worked here but Abel couldnât help but feel odd around him. There was a certainâŚaura around the latter but he didnât question it and just went with it.
Now with the mention that he doesnât have a place, the gallery owner only swayed on his feet and tilts his head. âI donât mind,â Abel murmured while going to nudge him towards a room, âPlus I have a hidden room here that I stay in when I donât go home. You can live in there if you want.â
âYou would let me stay here too?â
Such kindness had never been shown to him in his mortal life. His eyes soften as he looks towards Abel now.
âYou are a truly kind soul.â
He clears his throat now and holds out his hand.
âI forget if I told you my name or not. Levi Owens. Iâm 30, and enjoy reading and writing. Iâm gay, but by some of the art here, I see you have no problem with such things.â
He scratched the back of his head with his free hand.
âThe gay thing is why Iâm out on my own without a place. Things happened with my family and I lost everything.â
âFor real?â
This wasn't something Benji expected to hear. He nearly dropped his phone once he took it out. With wide eyes he looked at Eli who looked away. But Benji could see the bright red color on his cheeks. Could it be possible that Eli and BryceâŚ.?
âOh wow okay youâŚ.wait lemme text him. UhmâŚI give him a location but I think we have to pick him up close by.â Benji typed a message on his phone, before sending Bryce a quick voice message, then he looked at Eli again. âYou've never talked to him, have you? Bryce isâŚwellâŚpretty rude. He doesn't mean to, he just always says what comes to his mind. He dealt with a few things at school so I guess that's why. You are nice soâŚI just want to warn you.â
"He's helped Levi. I can see he has a kind heart under everything. I've seen him interact with the others. He is among his kind here. But I've never been brave enough to talk to him. But if we have to go and pick him up, I have a car. It's a Jeep. Uh...so we could go pick him up. Sandra can take over for a bit while we're away."
Levi came trotting out of the woods with a deer in his jaws, looking proud. Eli chuckled.
"Looks like your bae caught dinner."
the-raven-dhampirâ:
Raven raised his glass to Levi with a smirk. Accompany someone in his first experiments could indeed be a pleasant time passing, especially if it was someone so attractive.
He just shrugged at Leviâs questions. âI usually just use the spirits I conjure and then yes, send them back. I have no idea whatâs gonna happen if I keep you around for longer.â There was clearly a lot Levi couldnât experience and Raven supposed he was thrilled to be given a second chance, but he was no expert in the matter to even try to guess the possible outcomes.
âMaybe youâll vanish, maybe youâll turn gloomy⌠Maybe you can stick in this world, but I doubt that.â
He slowly sipped his wine, silently considering what to feed to a spirit. âIf you could choose, would you like to stay?â
âYes. Very much so. I would like to stay.â
A blush covered his cheeks.
âI donât want to go back to the void. Itâs cold and dark. I know that much. Even if most of it is lost to my memory. Maybe there are good things of it. But all I can remember is being cold.â
He shuddered.
âAs if ice ran through my veins instead of blood.â
He shook his head and set aside the wine.
âHow can I live? How can I remain alive?â
vvaywardhunterâ:
.
âTrust me, kid. Godâs a dick, but he doesnât give a shit. Some sort of little-g god, though⌠maybe. Some of them got a thing for human sacrifice.â It would take some digging to find out exactly what these people were into, which meant Deanâs least favorite part of a hunt: research. He snapped a picture of the symbol on his phone and sent it to Sammy so he could get a head start. If anyone could find some obscure sigil buried in a dusty ass book in the bunkerâs library, it was his nerdy baby brother.
Dean had half a dozen weapons on him at any given time and slept with a couple more under his pillow or the mattress or both. His demeanor softened a little at the sight of a bunch of scared kids. He might not have Samâs approachable, nice guy act down cold, but he wasnât heartless. He pulled out the smallest pocket knife he had, which was still a bit alarming if you were tied up and helpless, and he locked eyes with one of them as he knelt in front of them. âNobodyâs gonna hurt you. Iâm just going to cut you free, okay?â When the kids were untied, he straightened, slipping the knife back into his pocket.
âI was so furious when I found out what he had done that I forgot about them and focused on killing him.â
The former ghost covered his face.
âKilling me is one thing. Sacrificing them? No. I couldnât let another die by my fatherâs hands. And I couldnât contact the police. I didnât know what to do, hunter. I hope you can understand. I wasnât evil. Iâm not evil. I just couldnât let anymore people die by his hand.â
Tears slid down his cheeks. He didnât realize it, but the sigil on the ground was burned into his wrist.
It was the sigil for an ancient god. One who protected people like him. Those who were not ...normal...but who was better known as a god of fortune.
âPlease...I donât know what to do. Let me help you. I...maybe I can repent by being a hunter.â
