I think people tend to forget Terminators are technically asexual, and then write or illustrate about them in perverted or provactive ways which kind of rub me the wrong way personally. Of course I don't want to ruin anyone's fun but at the same time I just wish Terminators were more recognized as asexual characters and not always interpreted sexually in fanwork.

dont forget the fact that they are literal killing machines and in the first movie the t-800 is also supposed to be like an anti natalist , kills people gawking at him or having sex , ( uncle bob doesnt kill but does give a cold look or hurt those who gawk / get too close in the bar , like a " dont touch me / stay away from me " ) etc so that makes the disconnect / mischaracterizations even worse

another thing is that some terminator knockoffs / sequels where they are more sexualized tend to not be as good or feel really ironic and satirical , i think their asexuality ( and aromanticism ) along with their focus on their duty and their strenght are what make them so cool in a genuine way

!!! These are also very important details to add, it's things like this that structure the characters well in a way where they are indubitably aromantic and asexual. It just feels odd and out-of-character to sexualize them given these facts, regardless if sexualizing them is based on the logic of how headcanons "harmlessly" operate. And yes, I do think most headcanons ARE harmless but sometimes it can do harm with cases like this.

yeah , headcanons can be fun but in this case erasing that part of their characters misses the point not only in the characters themselves but also in general themes of the terminator story , and makes them feel more like any other random allo characters instead which is 💔

Kind of tired of how other queer and asexual folks keep pushing compulsive sexuality, and moralizing having sex or sexual thoughts.

Like, I'm tired of the "better be a pervert than a prude", the "we all are a little freaky", the "asexuals write the best smut", the "we don't want prudes to be writing hcs"... Y'all love to reblog posts that say the basic "asexuals are valids!" but also reblog and post a ton of posts saying that being a "prude" is bad, not being a pervert is bad, every human is a pervert deep inside and people that denies it are bad, not being into kinky sex is bad, not being comfortable with some kinks is bad, not wanting to participate in some sexual acts is bad... So no, I do not feel valid and I do not feel supported, I feel exactly the same as before I discovered asexuality: broken and inhuman.

Purity culture is part of compulsory sexuality; it’s a method of control. It’s not encouraging (nor forcing) ace behavior, it’s controlling when and how you’re allowed to have sex (and, ultimately, reproduce).

Reminder: sex positivity is a MOVEMENT that means people deserve to be EDUCATED, and DESTIGMATIZED for whatever sex they have (I can’t believe I have to extra clarify that sex means consensual).

Sex negativity is against that. It has a similar view as purity culture to sex and sex education. It is NOT personally not wanting to have sex or engage in sex/sexual topics!

Wanting ability to consent and representation thereof is nowhere near the same as sex negativity!
