I'm Vellinaria, but you can also call me Vell or Velli if you'd like.
If my username didn't give it a way, I do have a love of World of Warcraft even with all its ups and downs over the years.
I've been writing for many years as a hobby though I've barely shared any of my original works in all this time. I'd like to change that with this blog.
When I'm not writing, you can usually find me hanging out with my family, reading, or trying my hand at some new hobby that piqued my interest.
I love history, mythology, and fairy tales. I love romance, fantasy, suspense, and even a little sci-fi (specifically steampunk) when reading across all age groups. I also love horror and other types of sci-fi, but more often in movie/show form over the written word. I love monsters and things that go bump in the night. I love learning new things and going down rabbit holes.
I love meeting new people even though I can be quite shy at first, but I can talk your ear off about many things once I'm comfortable.
My hopes for this blog is to become a place where I can share my stories while also sharing and enjoying others' stories, sharing pretty art, and fun posts about writing and other things that pique my interests.
Stories that I'll be posting will most likely be Teen-rated, but that could change with time.
It's honestly been a bit since I've written anything original as I've spent the last few years working on fanfiction pieces. Still writing them, too, but that is being kept separate from this space on purpose. If you find that blog on here or my AO3 account, you'll win the prize.
Ideally, I'll be posting a story a week (probably Fridays), but I'll be letting you know if I don't have a story ready for the week.
As for the stories themselves, they'll either be contemporary, historical, and even fantasy. Some will have magic and/or mythical creatures while others will be free of them. Fairy tale retellings are a high possibility as well. Maybe a little mystery and/or horror. Monster lover stories are highly probable. You just never know!
All will be properly tagged though so you'll be able to filter out what you don't want to see.
My asks and messages will always be open if you'd like to be friends. I would love to find other writeblrs with similar interests. If you like this intro, please feel free to give me a follow and we'll see how it goes from there.
A supervillain goes to investigate a disturbance at the entrance of their secret lair, only to find their superhero archnemesis standing there, shivering. "I'm sorry, but I just got evicted and I didn't have anywhere else to go."
There is no drug on earth that can replicate the absolute euphoria of hitting a writing flow state at 2:00 AM. You arenât even typing anymore. You are a vessel. You are a channel for the gods. The characters are speaking directly into your brain and youâre just the stenographer trying to keep up. You feel like you could fight a bear. You feel like you invented the alphabet
"You forget who you are talking to." For centuries you were peaceful. You even managed to get Humans to protect your Kin under their own laws. It is tentative, but better than nothing and a path forward. Now some of your Kin once again want War. Maybe it is time to remind your Kin who you are.
many women are excited to get old and weird, but i have great news that it's fully possible to become weird now, before you get old. just imagine the heights of weirdness you will be able to reach in fifty years if you get started now. that's what I think
A little known fact is that when under a truth spell, you can simply ask âwhyâ they need to know instead of being forced to answer. Youâve already gone through 3 inquisitors, and the fourth looks like they are about to burst a vein.
Another older story that I worked on a while ago. Attempted matchmaking. No warnings. WC: 1120.
You thought your eyes were playing tricks on you when you spotted a handsome gnoll standing outside the tax office where you worked.
The gnoll seemed almost nervous, and you couldnât imagine what could make them that way outside a tax office outside of tax season.
Your purposeful steps slowed as you neared the door and caught the gnollâs attention.
He lifted his hand by way of greeting you, his smile more nervous than his fidgeting feet. A hysterical laugh slipped past his lips which caused a horrified expression to spill across his features.
You couldnât help thinking he was endearing at that moment, almost wishing he might be there to see you. That stilled your steps a moment before you shook the thought away. Work kept you too busy to consider anything more than passing acquaintances in your life.
Pasting on the professional attitude youâve perfected the past few years, you smiled at the gnoll upon reaching the door. âHow are you today?â
âBetter now that youâre here,â he said in a rush.
More confused than ever, you didnât move to unlock the office door. Sure, youâve been hit on in the past, but you didnât think he meant to hit on you when he spoke. That didnât help, either, as his words made little sense otherwise since he couldnât possibly need a tax professional so badly to hit on one, could he?
âIs there something I can help you with? Do you have an appointment?â You reached into your briefcase and pulled out your phone to open your calendar. Several appointments popped up, but you didnât have anything for at least half an hour, and he didnât look like a woman named Ethel Martin.
Glancing up, you caught his smile slipping.
âNo, I donât have an appointment, but I thoughtâŠâ His brows drew together, and his hands stiffened and flexed as he worked through his thoughts.
Your phone pinged with a text message. Seeing your sisterâs name flash across the screen, you tapped to open her message.
Lisa: Oh, Mom says to bring him to dinner this weekend if you two hit it off.
Shifting your gaze from your phone to the gnoll, you couldnât believe what was happening. Oh, your sister was going to pay for this one. No grandbabies for your mother, either, after this. You would make sure of that.
âLook, mister, Iâm sorry but your information was wrong. Whatever you were told about me, itâs not true. Iâm sorry youâve wasted your time, and I hope you have a good life. I really do. You seem like a great guy from what Iâve seen so far.â
Biting your tongue so you didnât ramble any further, you hurried toward the door and unlocked it. You didnât dare look at the gnoll as you relocked the door and rushed toward your office. It was already too embarrassing that your mother and sister had conspired to set you up on some type of blind date.
Oh, they would feel your wrath for that.
After you set your stuff down, you opened your phoneâs lock screen and tapped the phone button under your sisterâs icon.
She picked up on the second ring. âSo, how did it go meeting Reil? Heâs really cute, right? I knew I could pick the perfect guy for you.â
âWhat the hell were you thinking? Who gave you the right to try and set me up with someone. A stranger no less. Are you out of your mind? Even if I was interested, I donât need your help in finding a date.â
âReally? Whenâs the last time you went on one? Mom is worried you wonât ever find someone and settle down. I canât say if I care about you doing that, but it would be nice to see you happier than youâve been lately. Come on, sis. Give the guy a chance if you havenât already ruined it with him.â She paused, then added, âYou didnât ruin it, did you?â
âI donât know him, Lisa.â
âBy the gods, you did ruin it. Donât worry. Iâm sure I can fix it.â
Before you could say anything else, she hung up on you.
Frustrated, you tossed your phone into the bottom drawer of your desk and went about getting ready for the day, wanting to put the entire morning out of your mind.
That lasted all of five minutes as a coworker knocked on your open door to announce you had a visitor.
It was the gnoll youâd seen outside, and he wore a weary expression.
Figuring you could give him a few minutes, you motioned for him to come into your office while you shut the door behind him. He refused to take the seat across your desk, preferring to stand near the small window in the corner.
âYour sister called and confessed everything,â he said in a soft voice. âI feel like an idiot for ambushing you here.â
âItâs not your fault. I donât hold you responsible for any of it, either.â You let out a breath, sinking into your chair and watching him. He didnât pace exactly, but he shifted from one foot to the other in rapid succession. âItâs really sweet you wanted to meet me. Iâm sorry Iâm not what you were promised.â
âI wouldnât say that.â He didnât quite meet your gaze, and his fidgeting increased.
Surprised, you asked before you could better of it, âWhat would you say then?â
His fidgeting stopped then. A resolve seemed to still him in a way you hadnât seen before, but you couldnât say you hated it. When his gaze did meet yours, he said, âI would like a chance to see if your sister was right about this, about us. Would you consider having lunch with me today? Your choice, my treat.â
You only hesitated a moment.
If you messed this up, you would never hear the end of it. Your sister and mother wouldnât care that theyâd interfered again, but they would focus on you messing it up with someone they deemed perfect for you.
So, you nodded. âIâll give you a chance.â
Much to your consternation, you did hit it off with Reil during that lunch, even making plans for dinner that evening after you got off work. You hit it off so well that you ended up taking him to your motherâs home for dinner that weekend. Both she and your sister crowed with joy at the sight of you two together.
While you wanted to be miffed, you couldnât help feeling happy youâd given Reil a chance after all your sisterâs machinations to set the two of you up.
