david cage once made a naked model of ellen page without her consent and left it in the game files, meaning anyone could find them with minimal effort. this came right after insisting she be hired because he fell in love with a picture of her.
every single one of his games has had a showering scene or sex scene until detroit. and half the time the sex scenes make no sense in the narrative
he has no idea how to write women or people of colour or mental illness (its implied todd beats alice because hes on anti depressants, and lest we forget ralph from dbh too)
he has no idea how to write abuse other than in a cartoonish way
one of his games literally had a third act twist which made no sense, where the cop was the origami killer, but earlier in the game you play as the cop and a witness gets killed by the origami killer in another room that you, the cop, are not in. despite the fact youre the killer.
also the detroit plot twist was stupid, kara just “forgot”? that alice was an android? so it could be revealed later? dumb
in one game youre a criminal and you ‘die’ and continue as a zombie type person, and the woman cop assigned to your case can have sex with you. for no reason. sex w a corpse
his first ever game from 1999 opens with a you possessing a man and sleeping with the mans wife and she doesnt know you arent her husband. yikes!
you can literally kill the two skinny, scantily clad sex worker lesbians in detroit. and if you do connor can mess with their corpses in the evidence room.
detroit has a bad ending where the robots go to a concentration camp. the androids all wear triangles and arm bands thru the game. that, and the parallels to the civil rights movements (marches, chapters named after the railway, the black-power fist later in the game) makes the game an antisemitic, racist mess.
jewish people and black people (and all minority figures) being portrayed as inhuman machines is disgusting.
thats not even touching on the negative historical connotations of ‘these inhuman people are better than us, we need to *take care* of them’ which its own can of worms i dont feel educated enough to get into. the mothers basement video above talks about this point excellently.
theres also a scene of north (white woman) telling josh (black man) that he deserves to be a slave because he doesnt want to be violent. Fucking Yikessss
im missing a LOT of stuff in these bulletpoints. read the post and watch the videos. youll hate him like everyone else
people legit only like detroit because bryan dechart and clancy brown had amazing performances, and they fought against cage’s directions and script. hell, even playstation themselves fought against cage this time around.
anything good that happens in cage’s games happen in spite of him, not because of him.
