You know, the stuff about FS Links has me thinking about being told one time that certain people don't like them being called colors for...reasons.
I've personally taken to calling them the gems, but know I won't be changing things in the fandom by myself, and don't wanna go on some obnoxious crusade. I just wanna be respectful to people.
I received this ask last night because of some Linked Universe art I made of The Colors yesterday.
Besides being a fan of LU I am also a big fan of Four Swords, though it's been much harder for me to enjoy that lately due to certain people in the fandom. Some opinions and behavior l've seen around are just really disappointing and discouraging.
I'm aware that certain people in the Four Swords fandom don't like for them to be called "The Colors" because they, surprisingly, believe it's racist. When, in fact, it's not.
l've also seen it mentioned that it's an LU exclusive term, again, it's not.
But why is it not either of those things?
In both fandoms they each have:
In both fandoms a huge part of their whole shtick/theme is their different "colors".
I honestly can't believe that I have to point this out, their colors are red, green, blue, and violet. Their names are Red, Green, Blue, and Vio.
They are each themed to different colors.
You have to go through some wild mental gymnastics to get from "colors" (when someone is referring to the colors of a rainbow) to attaching an entirely different meaning to that. If you want to completely change the meaning/intention of a word to something else, then go ahead. That's your choice.
Again. They are themed to different colors. I find that The Colors is fun term, in both LU and Four Swords, when referring to how they are different colors of a rainbow. Even "Rainbow" is a fun word for me when referring to LU Four.
Respectfully, the color-theming is enjoyable to me.
