The huntress was going to reply with a different comment but the last part seemed to catch her off guard. Her cheeks already flushing red in embarrassment.

In which he looks to @demon-slayer-kaiden with a look that would kill a Seregios instantly. " Aren’t you a mother? " He nearly hisses from the question. " Not only would that endanger you, but the whelp as well. We have no idea what an Arkveld’s rearing habits are, or how accepting a mother is when introducing a whelp that no longer smells like her. " All of it spells disaster—all of it.

" So, unless you have a plan on how to extract the child if everything goes wrong, I’d suggest not even considering it. "

Kaiden crossed her arms, looking off to the side and deciding it best to not make eye contact with golden felicid. Even still she could feel his judgemental stare burrowing a hole through the side of her head.

He was correct of course, just because a Rathalos and Rathian would be willing to accept a young hatchling back into their brood...didn’t mean Arkveld would be willing to do the same.

“Ironic isn’t it...I’m a mother and yet I work a very dangerous occupation.” was muttered under her breath while she watched Yuu circling around Nata. The young girl was curious to what the elder boy was working on. A glint of inspiration flashes across Kaiden's eyes, struck with an idea that might solve the current holes in her plan.

Aki caught it and almost sighed “I don’t like that look.” she mewed, arms crossed. Kaiden chuckled, “It might not work perfectly but I think I have a way to keep myself and the whelp safe.” the hunter almost wanted to smack herself for not thinking of it earlier.

“A ghille mantle can keep me hidden for a decent amount of time, if Arkveld shows any aggression to the young one I’ll be nearby enough to distract and grab her.” Offering the suggestion up to Airin to see if he approved.

The Jorogumo is dead and Cataleya is alive, thanks to Kaiden and Aki.

Seated on a bench at the edge of a park, not far from the scene of the attack but far enough to feel safe, the young woman is focused on taking deep breaths — in and out — to fully calm down after the ordeal.

If not for this passing stranger, she wouldn't be here still.

Once she feels as close to relaxed as she can be for now, she looks over at the huntress and manages a weak smile. "Thank you again... Really."

Just saying "thank you" to the one who saved her life doesn't feel like enough, but what else can she do right now? Being chased and now having the adrenaline wear off has left her so unbelievably exhausted.

Aki rested her head on the girl’s lap, letting the stranger pet her head. A rarity for the demon dog, but Cataleya was just in a life or death situation so she was willing to make an exception. Kaiden looked at her companion and then to Cat. “It was no problem, we’re just doing our job.” she replied with a gentle smile.

Job or not, it was still extremely lucky that Kaiden was passing by the area. She hates to think what would’ve occurred had Aki not caught the Jorogumo’s scent.

Something about the whole ordeal didn’t sit right with the hunter however. Jorogumo didn’t usually chase down their victims, or chase them down with such persistence. Everything Kaiden knew about them, they preferred ambush hunting. Luring their victims in and then striking.

It was not the time to bring up such concerns, right now Kaiden’s focus needed to be on the girl sitting in front of her.

“Is it alright if I check you over for bites? And then I promise we’ll get you home.”

If there is one thing Nata should've learned during his time with Kaiden and Avis unit it's that if there is any sense of danger afoot...Kaiden is going to scoop the boy up and throw him over her shoulder.

Much like a sack of potatoes, but somehow Nata feels lighter than a sack of potatoes.

"Back to the Pop-up camp with you, it's too dangerous." She said whilst plopping the boy on the back of Alma's Seikret.
