Barsafael

Barsafael is a demon of cerebral sickness, mental terror, and delusion, and is by some fringe parapsychologists thought to be associated with various mental illnesses, including schizophrenia. From what limited apocryphal history there is regarding Barsafael, he can be put to flight by invoking the name of the angel Gabriel, as is mentioned in the pseudepigraphal Testament of Solomon.

Barsafael has been mentioned in connection with at least two documented cases of supposed demonic possession - one involving a paranoid schizophrenic in a Tennessee mental ward, and another in Pennsylvania during the late 90s, in which the demon purportedly assumed the guise of a dead little girl and made disturbing phantom phone calls to a woman. The latter is mentioned in police officer-turned-exorcist Ralph Sarchie's book Beware the Night, parts of which inspired the film Deliver Us From Evil.

Pazuzu

A Babylonian demon of famine and plague, it is believed by some that Pazuzu can be invoked with amulets, or often via the Spirit Board, where he communicates under the name Zozo or Zaza. He is described in ancient texts as “lord of all fevers and plagues, grinning demon of the influencing wind, horned, with rotting genitalia.” It is said that Pazuzu wanders barren, arid wastelands around the world, where he waits to drag unsuspecting souls to Hell or else possess their bodies.

Some demonolatrists have linked Pazuzu with real-life cases of people vanishing or meeting their untimely deaths. One such example is that of David Stone, a successful stock market analyst and amateur occultist who vanished in the Arizona desert while looking for “The Beast” on Oct. 31, 1988. His car was found abandoned five days later, accompanied by pyramids of rocks and the Fibonacci Sequence written in the sand. It is thought by some that he was searching for Pazuzu, and may have gotten his wish.

Another, more recent, incident involves the McStay family, who vanished in the Mojave desert in 2010. Their skeletal remains were found in Nov. 2013, accompanied by the sigil of Pazuzu drawn in the sand.

The Annunaki are a group of supposedly mythological figures depicted as a pantheon of deities that were worshipped in various Mesopotamian cultures. Their name translates roughly to “they who from the heavens came to Earth.” The Annunaki are referenced in various works including the Epic of Gilgamesh, in which they purportedly “set the land aflame.” Some theorists, such as author/researcher Zecharia Sitchin, suggest the Annunaki were actually ancient extraterrestrials who came to Earth to harvest resources, and were worshipped as gods during their time here.
