A good day.
The early mornings were his favorite.
The smell of coffee mingled with the pines outside. Adonis cracked a window to let the fresh air in, just for a little while. He cradled a mug in his hands, looking out the window at the glittering snow. The coffee was bitter on his tongue, sparking his senses and awakening his mind. A lone bird could be heard chirping in the distance, today would be a good day.
Judas walked into the kitchen, his boots creaking the floorboards as he walked. His rough hands met Adonis’s hips in a heavy but gentle way, his broad chest pressed firm and warm against his back. Adonis smiled from the corners of his lips, craning his head back to catch a glimpse of those honey amber eyes “Good morning” Adonis nearly whispered, voice hoarse with sleep. Judas mumbled in reply, pressing a sweet kiss to his temple before releasing him to pour himself some coffee.
Adonis took a deep, comforting breath, catching the mahogany scent of Judas’s skin and the leather of his boots. He watched him out of the corner of his eye as he poured his coffee, the way the muscles of his arm moved under his sweater, the way his hair fell over the curve of his cheekbones, it was all so handsome. It was true, he was deeply in love with this man. The mornings they spent together, though thoroughly mundane, made his heart soar and, occasionally, made his mind wander. Adonis took another sip of his coffee, directing his gaze back to the scene outside, the sun had began to rise.
“Today is going to be a good day,” Adonis said into his coffee cup, watching the birds hop through the tree branches “I can feel it.” He said this nearly every morning, now that Damian no longer haunted his thoughts and dreams. Judas nodded in agreement, “Yes, it will be.” he said, placing his hand on the small of Adonis’s back and pressing a kiss to the top of his head. Adonis leaned against him and closed his eyes, believing with his whole heart that life had finally let him be happy.
