In my old days of tumblr, when you didn't like a ship and wanted to criticize it, you'd use the "#anti shipname" tag so as not to be annoying af to the people who ship it.

again in my rewatch of s1— I think Princess saying "I've never seen Robby that mad." after the Langdon scene is very very notable and important. it reinforces that the "real" Robby, or at least the more stable one, is not normally a very angry person. we see Robby as a pretty angry person in both seasons. we have only seen him in crisis. we have not seen this man on an even slightly good day.
Princess offers another great window into the better moments of Robby in s2 as well, when he asked about how the patient board was doing and she immediately assumed he was asking about she was doing, because it's probably not out of the ordinary. we only see a window in robby's life, and it's a fucked up window directly into the worst, most mentally ill parts of him.
if anything, it's very impressive that we have good Robby moments at all. that we still have moments of his empathy shining through, that we still have moments where he is likeable. even when he is unquestionably drowning in deep crisis.
in the words of Dana Evans, "you're a good man, Robinavitch. don't let this place take that from you."
A friend mentioned how The Pitt S2 is showing us Robby's struggles from the outside, not the inside as in the past. In S1, we followed him into the bathroom and saw his hitching breaths, his attempts not to cry. We saw his literal flashbacks, heard the ringing in his ears. In S2, all of that is absent. We don't follow him in. We don't get private moments with him at all.
It occurred to me that that may be why audiences are being so very harsh on Robby this season. Last season, he got empathy. This season, he gets scorn. (If not worse.) The thing is, we all experience other people's mental health struggles from the outside. We don't see their internal struggles, just their external actions.
And if this is how folks react to other people's declining mental health? Well, that is grim, indeed.
Robby: It's important to have boundaries.
Also Robby: Please come sleep in my bed for three months.

dennis getting so frustrated when he's yelling at robby for not wearing a helmet when he rides his motorcycle because robby and jack keep looking at each other and smirking because they think they're boy is so cute, but then it makes dennis so frustrated that he starts crying because he feels like they're not taking him seriously :(
"Dennis-", Jack starts, reaching out his arms like he wants to pull Dennis into a hug. Usually, he would step into those strong arms and let himself be comforted, but he recognises that tone in Jack´s voice.
It´s condescending. The tone one uses when their puppy is misbehaving, cooing pointless placations like "oh poor boy, i know, i know".
In fact Dennis knows that tone of voice because it´s the same one Jack and Robby use when Dennis is howling and crying on their cocks. He´s not even trying to actually argue, because he thinks it´s not an actual argument, just Dennis being unreasonable, a puppy barking out of turn.
The fact his boyfriends aren´t taking this seriously is driving him up the wall. Robby isn´t even saying anything, leaning on the nearest wall and staring. The same look in his eyes as when Dennis is begging for a spanking to stop, cruel, amused and entirely in control.
Dennis explodes.
"NO, Jack. Why aren´t you guys getting this? I can understand Robby being a stupid fucking idiot because he´s the one who´s dumb enough to ride without a helmet in the first place, but you? Jack, you´re literally missing a leg."
Dennis rarely got this angry. Has never gotten this angry at them. But this had him fuming. He can feel tears welling up in his eyes and his voice become shaky, anger quickly turning to desperation.
"Well, Den, as you know I didn´t lose it riding a motorcycle without a helmet." Jack says and god, the worst thing is, he´s clearly still amused, shooting Robby what he thinks is an inconspicuous smirk.
And that´s what proves to be the final straw. Dennis turns around and starts to run towards the door. Before he can get very far, a hand grips his shoulder and slams him into the wall.
"Where do you think you´re going, puppy?", that same goddamn cooing tone comes out again. "I don´t think we´re done here yet."
This is funny to them, Dennis realises. They are treating this like a scene, a tantrum to be solved by a dominant hand turning his ass red. By two cocks so far up his hole he can feel them in his throat, shutting him up.
This, this serious, important conversation Dennis is trying to have, is just foreplay to them.
But they miscalculated. Jack can feel Dennis body start to shake. For a second, he thinks his sweet boy is laughing, having realised the futility of this argument, but then he hears the sobs.
"Oh, sweet boy." he says and pulls him into a hug. Dennis tries to fight him, but the anger has left his body, now he´s just sad. Robby joins the hug, also having realised the gravity of the situation.
It doesn´t comfort Dennis. In a way it´s just a reminder of what he will miss, when Robby inevitably breaks his stupid head open on the fucking road. Maybe there is some anger left in him after all.
His sobs don´t subside, even encased in a cocoon of warmth. Jack and Robby exchange another look, but it´s not amused this time, it´s terrified. They´ve underestimated how much their boy cares about them and now they´re paying for it.
There´s only one thing to do. Jack nods his head at Robby, prompting him to speak. Robby sighs, feeling older than ever.
"Fine. I´ll sell the bike.", Dennis´ head jerks up, his beautiful eyes still full of tears. "What?"
"I´m sorry, Dennis. We didn´t take your concern for me as seriously as we should have. We thought we were a passing thing for you, you know? The excitement of fucking your bosses wears off after a while. We were just waiting for you to realise we´re just sad old men. You haven´t even seen what level of Candy Crush we´re on."
The boy sobs out a laugh, an ugly noise coming from the back of his throat.
"There´s that gorgeous smile." Jack says, gently stroking his hair.
"You know I love you both, right?" a quiet voice comes from between the older men.
Another look is exchanged, this time filled with tears of their own.
"We do, baby. we do now."
