Sega of America is still at war with Sega of Japan/Sonic Team but now instead of trying to push the American Sonic Bible as canon they're trying to push wholesome chungus fandom/Archie based characterizations as canon no matter how much they go against the characters.

Chungus characterizations are not deep or character development. You just refuse to understand the characters as they're supposed to be and want them to be exactly the same as 99% of other mainstream fandom fandom slop.

Evan Stanley says Silver is her favorite character but she doesn't care about his intended character at all and mostly just enjoys humiliating him. I'm sorry Silver the Hedgehog fans have to put up with her.

The reason why IDW fans (and now some creators) can't admit to being wrong about characterization, no matter how blatant the facts are against them, is simply because they're too emotionally immature to accept that thing they're invested in can be wrong. That's why they're so defensive and dishonest. You simply can't be honest when you put your emotional investments before the truth.

It's really sad for all these people in their 20's, 30's and some even pushing 40 to have less emotional development than a child.

Fans who say that being "relatable" makes a character deep are confusing emotional manipulation with depth. They think it's deep because it makes them feel deeply but if you actually think about it for more than 5 seconds then it isn't deep at all. It is narcissism, not depth.

People who handwave away OOC characterizations with "character development" or "it's a different side to them" are really saying the OOC version is who the characters really are. They don't actually believe in character development because they are fine with the characters being rewritten to always be that way. They don't actually care about the original characterization and just want their OOC wear the original as a skinsuit.

Don't give these people an inch.

The IDW Sonic staff need to make like Gege Akutami and stop using social media to interact with fans. They clearly can't handle it.

Here, Morio Kishimoto calls Ian Flynn's writing "easy to understand" and says there's no such thing as "space between the lines" in America. Basically saying the American side of the fan base is stupid and needs everything spelled out for them.

And you know what? He's right. Most people on this side of the fan base are genuinely stupid and don't understand anything unless you spell it out for them. Almost every Sonic fan I interact with these days is genuinely a midwit idiot that has a surface level understanding of everything but still thinks they're clever. This is the least intelligent fandom I have ever interacted with.
