Tell you what, I’ve written three books and I’m 23. I’m already done with dedicating them to people.
I write for me, and I write with the hope someone might like some of it. How do you put that in a dedication? grr

You ever write something years ago, then read it again and you're like... Shit I don't know what happens next???
I hate writing
You know what? Editing work you ‘finished’ two years ago is awful. The worst kind of self-inflicted punishment ever. I have embarked on a poorly thought-out endeavour...
NaNoWriMo
It’s on my mind. I love writing, but do I love it that much?
I’ve written 65k words in 6 weeks, but I’ve never done the actual challenge, and never around work. For me, the thing that makes the challenge even remotely doable is having a story that I have to get out. One of those that’s a must or an impulse.
I’ll think about it, but the only way it’s going to happen for me is if I plan beforehand, having some sort of a scaffold before I go all out is going to be the only way I write something coherent.
Does anyone have any tips for NaNoWriMo? Any plans? Maybe if I do it I’ll keep a log of it on here...
Oh heck it's done! Am exhausted. Going to go nap now and wonder what I'm supposed to do with my time. I'll think about editing sometime in the future
One chapter to go, then an epilogue! Let’s goooooooo!
Don’t tell anyone...
(I’m going to finish writing my book today. No one else knows, so keep it between me and you, yeah?)
You know what? Let’s do this again.
I haven’t used Tumblr for years. I used to love it, but I just got too busy to post stuff. Well, I’m more busy than ever, but I’ve realised that no one who knows me irl knows I’m even on here, so I can post what I want and only the internet can judge me. No biggie... Basically I’m just going to post about writing and writing updates, and I’m doing it for me and my own satisfaction.
Why am I back? Procrastination :) I should be writing, but I’m here instead. So where am I up to as a writer? Book 1 is self-published. Book 2 is written and I’ve queried it a bit but I think it needs work. Book 3? Well, that’s the other window that’s open on my laptop rn. It was going to be 70k words. Then 90k. I just hit 110k. I wish stories would just damn behave themselves!
Other than that, here’s what you need to know about me:
I work in publishing
I really like books
Dogs are better
Orange is the colour
Tea and coffee are my only sources of sustenance - the rest is a lie.
Oh, I’m also really interested in the saving the environment, so if you want to talk about books, the environment, and how books can be better for the environment, I would really love that.
Cheers!

AHEM THERE ARE PEOPLE WHO NEED THIS YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE
I learned about tally marks yesterday!
(I cross mine from R to L, but Jake does his straight through)
I was watching a kdrama and they were tallying a vote and I was just like: 😍😍😍😍
Cus I’d never considered the cultural implications of tally marks. Lol, I just thought lines to five are lines to 5, ya know? Then I read the whole wiki page and now I want to learn more!
Are there other ways? How do you make tallies? Tell me moooooooore lol ^-^
“You’re Not a Good Writer.”
I once received a DM comprised of just that sentence. Nothing else. No constructive criticism or any reason as to why this person clearly agreed with my own view of myself.
For someone who has never told anyone in their real life that they write anything, reading something like this from an anonymous user only solidified in my mind the fact that this person was right.
I’m not a good writer.
After an embarrassing amount of minutes passed, in which I thought about deleting every story I ever posted, I decided to delete the message instead. Unfortunately, that didn’t mean I could delete the feelings it caused or change the fact that I’m not a good writer.
Two weeks went by and I didn’t write anything, let alone post. Then I received a comment on a story I had posted three years prior, one I’d written after a death in our family. The comment read, “Thank you for sharing this heartfelt story. I really needed this. I just lost my mom and this really got me today.”
I stopped thinking about being a good writer after that. I thought instead, “what if I had deleted my stories and that one person three years later hadn’t read it that day?”
Here’s what I realized: no one is a good writer.
Good means to be approved of, but stories aren’t created from approval. They’re built from life experiences, feelings, and emotions Therefore, the impact of anyone’s story isn’t good or bad. It’s a million other things.
Heartfelt.
Sad.
Funny.
Inspiring.
Romantic.
So to all the story writers out there, hold your head up, write what is in your heart, and never doubt that there isn’t at least one person out there that needs to read your story.
So, no.
We’re not good writers, but why would we want to be?
Holy shit did I need to read this today
Never doubt that there isn’t at least one person out there that needs to read your story.
I love all of this ^ but it still sucks that we seek validation. Sometimes that one person who needs your story is you, and that's okay, too!
The bare bones of solid plot—plug your points and get writing!

SUMMARY
The thing about life is that even on the darkest of days, there’s still a glint of hope. It’s the stars, peeking through the smoggy sky. It’s the moon burnt red in fire. It’s strings of lights run by glints of copper, twining through the trees and the old rafters. The hen that pecks at a dying land. The gears that keep turning. And the thing about life is that even when we come undone, there’s always going to be someone or something to pick you back up, help get your feet moving again, help you find another light to cling too, another ember to fan into your own burning flames. Ian’s been moving through the ashes for far too long, and Caleb might not have realized his flames were burning so low. But the way that the world works, is that it tends to put you in exactly the right spot, at exactly the same time. Or maybe that’s just luck. Some could even argue it’s bad luck. No matter what it is, though, it’s there. And you have to deal with it.
OTHER INFORMATION -
When an old friend shows up at Caleb’s farm, he finds the full wrath of the Capitol Council brought down upon him. When given a choice between keeping Ian safe, or keeping ownership of the last farm in the country, Caleb knows that there’s only one choice he can make. Keep them both, of course.
*a genre mash-up with flavors from fantasy, post-apoc fiction, and western hints.
*We Come Undone is, at heart, a story about healing, farming, and finding your own family.

YES
WONDERFUL
1000000/10 WOULD ATE AGAIN
For magic improvements on thing that is already perfect:
Use one spoon white sugar, and one spoon brown if you have it.
After microwave, before noms, add vanilla ice cream.
\o/
salt is a flavour enhancer, add just a tiny dash, not enough to make it salty.
Because I love you all.
reblogging cause i need to save this
A note for those who have trouble measuring butter with a spoon as I do: one cup I am sixteen tablespoons. Butter/margarine bricks are usually a half a cup, so just cut one eighth of that amount
These are really good! And yes, for the love of god, if you have it use white sugar and brown sugar, add just a pinch of salt, and as many chocolate chips as you darn well please. Great with icecream, whipped cream on top, or a tall glass of milk (keep in mind you gotta eat it with a spoon, you can’t dip it in milk)
Super college friendly (trust me)
per being college-friendly, if you don’t want to go buy ingredients and/or have a cramped living situation:
most restaurants have sugar packets, and i thiiink Starbucks has brown sugar sometimes too. guesstimate from someone who does a lot of baking, about four standard packets should be a tbspn
restaurants also have salt, McDonald’s usually has it in packets. don’t dump a whole packet in, just a dash
individually wrapped butter pats are usually a “fancy” restaurant staple, so idk your economic situation at that point, but if you see'em, snatch'em. two to three of these, depending on size, is a tbspn
vanilla is expensive these days, but the flavor is 100% essential. teeny-tiny bottles exist in most grocery stores, a good size for mug recipes
ofc flour doesn’t come free, but it too is often sold in small packages in many stores, usually cheap
store brand chips, or check for lowered prices on baking ingredients around/after holiday season (I’ve gotten some nice Ghirardelli products during holidays)
