Perfect Marriage Revenge may be cliché and tropey and soap-opera-like but I look forward to it every week cause ultimately it's the story of a woman who poured and poured and poured her love onto the wrong people (to the point of having none anymore because they took it all without giving her any in return) but then finally finds the right person and the right people for her. People that genuinely value her, care about her and want to stay by her side. People that love her and will give her back as much love as they receive. People that deserve her and whom she deserves.
beginning to believe that the liberal and pseudo-intellectual mind is simply unable to understand what an aistrike or a bomb or a missile is. like im serious but they are acting as though airstrike deaths simply don't count—even for israeli hostages. they'll talk about bringing them home but if you tell them that the hostages are being bombed too their eyes glaze over
there's a lot to be said about how the west experiences airstrikes and drone warfare as the moment of deliberation before your fingers push a button but the middle east has experienced airstrikes as screaming, being buried alive under rubble, burns that are not on the curriculums of medical schools, being crippled for life by a new weapon that will not be publicly acknowledged for years, blood everywhere, bodies decomposing under buildings and memories and childhoods that will no longer exist
drone warfare was in part to spare soldiers the mental difficulty of killing face-to-face, but i think it has also created an unbridgeable gap between the entire populations of those who make the bombs and those who receive them
in which "lesser evil" is code for "evil that is less relevant to me" or "evil that is easier for me to ignore"
To anyone wondering if it's worth it to tear down fascist posters or whatever. I spent a few months last year engaged in silent battle with another student at my school who was putting anti trans stickers up everywhere. I had it down to a system where every night I would walk the five block radius they went up in, and tear down all the ones I could reach, and use a stick to put duct tape over the others. Like, within hours of the stickers going up, I would have already purged the whole zone. I knew the basic schedule of whoever put them up based on when and where the stickers appeared. I probably could have found them in person if I'd wanted to. And I told all my classmates and friends what the stickers looked like and got them to rip them down too. And after a few months of this, the stickers slowed, and then stopped forever.
My point is, a lot of this fashy or right wing stuff is one local weirdo. And if you pay attention, and do a little light organizing with your friends, you can basically make their efforts into a giant sisyphisean exercise in misery. You control your streets!
A blogger in gaza, Amal alhenawi, shared a story yesterday explaining how the past few days have been. Of course there are no words to describe exactly how it is to live under constant bombardment.
She said that she misses sleeping alone in her room, instead of having to share a room with other 10 people. She said she feels guilty when she secretly admits she's terrified of death and that she wants to live. No internet, no food, sometimes when they get lucky each member of her family gets one loaf of bread for the day, other days there might not be anything to eat. She mentioned how everybody celebrated when her brother came back with water, but it tasted weird, turns out it was undrinkable but it was the only solution they had.
What horrified me the most, is when she talked about their neighbors building getting bombed by israeli air strikes. And how paramedics as well as civilian defense came to the scene only to leave minutes later. In their own words: "this building is four floors. We have no equipment to dig through or get anyone out." So they had to leave. People from the neighborhood started digging with their own hands, they could hear some people alive underneath, but no one could get out.
Amal talks about her two cousins who visited her and they're little kids who don't talk anymore. She said they saw their friend and neighbor dead, with his head sperated from his body, the trauma was too severe for them to process.
Amal wants to live. She came to gaza to celebrate her brother's wedding. Who was planning on leaving for his honeymoon before the genocide started.
Each person of gaza has a story, a life worth living. So we must end this genocide. Do everything you can, do not stop and do not get used to it. Annihilating an entire city is not normal and should never be.
