JUNE THE THIRD, AN EXCELLENT DAY!

Things that happened to me when I went to the hospital for my bilateral salpingectomy:

When getting my check-in bracelet, the person complimented my tattoo and said that they went well together (and they do!)

My veins were so nice, the nurse went to grab someone who needed to practice

I told second nurse, who was working on building her IV skills, that I hoped the vampires liked my blood. She chortled and said, “we have very complimentary vampires here, I’m sure they’ll love it.”

the first thing I heard coming out of anesthesia was “This is Diebrarian, she’s nice!”

As I came out of anesthesia the nurse put warm blankets around my head (I felt like some kind of oracle), and gave me heating packs to hold and goldfish.

Also while coming out of anesthesia, I got regaled with American Girl facts, as I share a name with a popular one.

I could near the nurses saying nice things about the patients and giving each other constructive feedback in a kind manner, and giving space for learning and talking through issues.

Almost every nurse I spoke to commented positively on how excited I was to be there.

The procedure went smoothly and well, and now I feel like a new human. That’s probably the painkillers on some level.

But if anyone wants to hear positive things about this kind of procedure, feel free to ask/DM me. I’ll have more info about recovery as time goes on, but so far I’ve been able to go up and down stairs and eat and use my favorite chair. My throat’s pretty sore but I’m drinking fluids to help. Other than that, I feel great.
