Literally I agree, but I like it spicy so I’m gonna head canon this:

Tobey’s upbringing: From what we see of his home, Tobey McAllister III was expectedly raised on a “higher” standard of living. He has a harder time to relate with people with being selfish and egotistical in some notions, but unlike Victoria; he can empathise to a degree(which does suggest that the foundational moral principles have been established into Tobey)

Note: take into account of a lack of a parental figure to keep him in check and to track behavioural changes. Claire is currently a lone breadwinner that has to provide for the both of them, though there has been a mention of a ‘gram-gram’ which does indicate other family members, but none near enough to facilitate any sort of relationship. To Tobey, his mother is the only human connection that he has personally had ever since, a lack of a strong connection to another person such as the father allows many ideals that can be possibly harmful to influence him. Why he acts the way he acts is to fill a ‘hole’ within his ego, he wants to be better than his peers, for his peers to respect him; for people to respect him. Not a God complex in whole, but more of an attention seeking person to some extent. He acts like he’s this ‘high standard’ British man, but he doesn’t understand much about his own emotional state to properly gain and gauge relationships. But please be reminded that this is a child, and one that is heaps of knowledge but lacks the wisdom of its use.

Tobey’s intelligence:

I don’t feel as if Tobey’s perception of others is anything more than “he can’t get over his own ego to see that people aren’t really mean”. This kid is freaking intelligent and handy as hell: he builds contraptions that literally weigh tons, can program them on a dime. Multifunctional systems and the range (literal potential man here)

but imagine all of this talent, and he just sees us doing…things that to him- have no sense whatsoever towards it…paired with the need of attention that rewards him. Building robots seems to fill them both up.

which is maybe another reason why Tobey wants WordGirl, maybe he must have read romance books abit too long and it got to his head…but it also satisfies both of his needs, respect and attention

The thing about the idea that Junko influenced Makoto beyond the grave isn't that it's necessarily wrong, but how everyone goes about it is.

No, Makoto wouldn't have nightmares about Junko tormenting him, he wouldn't give her the benefit of the doubt, he wouldn't even remotely think she was ever right.

No no no, what Junko does influence Makoto is keep fighting, succeeding and just being himself now with the added motivation of spite.

She wanted him to Despair? Well now he will Hope harder.

She drowned the world into Despair? Now he will make sure to fix it harder.

She brainwashed people? Well he will just undo it harder.

She wants him to die? Well now he will live on and on.

Hell if she somehow resurrected and tried to died again because she believes she's a mistake that shouldn't exist? Well now he will stop that and try to make her feel better until she doesn't feel so bad.

As long as Junko keeps being Junko Makoto will be Makoto with additional spite fuel.
