Viral Interventions: Propose
“The historic way of growing is to know that failing is the path to relief and progress.”
Proposal #1: Chalk on Sidewalk to Signify Mistakes
For this first idea of the text-based project, a large-scale public chalk artwork will be made on a busy sidewalk or patio. The leading sentence contains purposeful "mistakes" (crossed-out words, misspellings, corrections, etc.) but is written in a variety of forms and styles. The chalk organically streaks and deletes when people walk over it, visually reiterating the notion that failure is a necessary part of the process. A clearer version of the text is shown at the conclusion of the area, signifying how peace and lucidity come from learning from mistakes. We feel that the target audience for this message would be for children and adults. The wording will continue to change due to natural wear as individuals walk over the chalk. By the end of the day or week, those mistakes will help to convey the ultimate message: failure is a vital component of development rather than its conclusion. A final, neat, and bold form of the statement will be written at the very end of the path to further emphasize the idea. We feel that this will catch our target audience’s attention since it is out in the environment.
This image above are icons that will be added on the sidewalk along with our phrase for a visual imagery of our message.
Proposal #2: Banner Drop of Fabric over Bridge
For this second idea of the text-based project, we could showcase our sentence/phrase as a sign on a big piece of fabric and locate it on a transit space. This place could be on the edge of a bridge so the people driving under it or walking across it can notice our phrase on the banner. To reflect our sentence on the fabric, we can use different media such as spray paint, printed letters or even acrylic paint. I would consider that we should use a bold font or a diverse palette of colors with vibrant tones to engage the public. Also, it is important to utilize a fabric with a neutral color such as beige or white, so the reflected text can contrast with the piece and be more visible for the people reading it. Our target audience would as well be for children and adults. This will really enhance our target audience since it is out in the environment; visually seen for all ages. Finally, our sentence is meant to motivate and produce some sense of enthusiasm to whoever is reading. Therefore, the location and timing must be strategic. The use of a bridge and daylight is fundamental so we can accomplish the impact we are looking for.
Proposal #3: Influential Poster at Gym
For this third idea of the text-based project, we were planning on creating a motivational poster that reads, "The historic way of growing is to know that failing is the path to relief and progress." We'll create a striking layout with dynamic text and drawn images of the related chosen words. Drawing concepts, selecting colors, and honing the message are all ways that each member will participate. The finished poster will be put up either inside or outside of the gym to encourage people to accept failure as a necessary component of their fitness journey. It will serve as a reminder to gym patrons that perseverance and fortitude are the keys to success by being positioned close to exercise stations. The target audience will be teen or adult gym members. I think this will help a lot of individuals push through their workouts and add on to their daily life.
