anyway have a paragraph from my most recent essay on women's body standards
'Women’s beauty standards also have to do a lot with weight. Over many years and cultures, lots of different body types have been perceived as ideal. In Body Studies, DeMello says, “The models of femininity are constantly changing, extolling ‘new’ images of proper womanhood.” This is incredibly important to know in order to understand how beauty standards are continually unattainable. A new body type will be introduced as the ‘newest/hottest/sexiest look’ in beauty, and women will want to do anything to achieve that body. This leads to companies selling all sorts of products that claim to help the woman attain that look (notice the products only claim to help, there is never a singular product that fixes everything, as that would make less money in the grand scheme). By the time the desperate women have bought the products (and realized they don’t work the way they claimed), the next, ‘more trendy’, ‘even hotter’ look has made its entrance, and so the cycle continues. Boudrillard touched on this in his writings, talking about how even mainstream self-care and body positivity are made out to be manufactured for the purchase of merchandise. In the past couple of years (2025-6), self-care has become a desirable trait in women. Women are expected to buy nice-smelling soaps and bath products, extensive skincare products, and items for performative hobbies. Self-care is no longer truly about loving yourself, it has been made into making yourself more aesthetically pleasing to others (marketed as a way to make yourself happy despite authentic self-love being about loving yourself and your body despite its imperfections). Performative hobbies are also an interesting concept, and although this essay doesn’t need a section on them, I would like to note main examples being things such as buying nice art supplies for show despite not using them, buying books for display to mimic being ‘nerdy’, and journaling specifically for show on social media. So many trends, throughout history, can be directly associated with what men want from women at the time. When women start to get too independent, you start seeing a resurgence of ‘housewife’ trends; When women start to accept their bodies as they are, you see a comeback in performative self-care trends. “All women’s experiences are a product of a patriarchal society which oppresses women”, says DeMello.'
I'm lowk cooking now that I'm on proper adhd meds
I feel kinda bad about not posting as much this summer, but I've been doing a bunch of schoolwork, trying excessively to get a job, and having medical issues on top of that. I've gotten 3 out of 8 essays written for a class (T^T), submitted over 25 job applications (got an interview for exactly ONE, but it was called off due to them finding a better qualified candidate)(thats the wording they used, they could have just said 'we found someone else' or 'the position has been filled' but they chose to say they found someone better qualified. for a gas station?????), got diagnosed (finally) with Orthostatic Hypotension (POTS without the heart rate issues), and started a new ADHD med, which is working so well thank gOd bc I needed that so bad for the essays. anyways, college starts back in about two weeks (oh god I still have 5 essays to do), so I will be mainly focusing on schoolwork and trying not to have a depressive episode like the last two semesters. it's honestly a wonder I passed as many classes as I did. I'll probably be more active on insta during the school year, so check that out if ya haven't! anyway uhhh if I don't get on tumblr for a good while don't be surprised :/

FUCK, I though it was just another lucky meme but LISTEN. Since a week ago I was waiting a phone call to confirm me if I got a job or not in my university. I reblogged this yesterday’s night “just for fun and because I don’t want any bagel to be mad with me”, and today’s afternoon, while I was losing my time as always, the professor I was supposed to work with called me and asked me for my personal information to start working with her.

I am currently applying for jobs, but the job market is actually trash rn and there's a high likelihood that none of them actually hire me, since I don't have any prior work experience and they want 40+ years of experience to organize shelves.
That being said, I'm highkey broke and need some sort of income, so I'll be opening commissions for art and tarot readings!
Art Commissions- starting at $10-15 for basic pieces, limited to cats (regular or pixel art! send pics of pets and I'll draw em :O ), hermit crabs, and I can do people but I may have to compromise on some things (such as clothes, extra limbs, pose, etc). I haven't decided on set prices for specific levels of drawing/work so DM me to negotiate lol (DM my art acct @soap-draws-silly-stuffs )
Tarot Readings- I am open to pretty much any spreads, be it one I know or not, and I have 5 different decks that you can choose which I use for your reading, so it's super personalized!!! I'll have a base fee of $5, and then instead of pricing by time, it's $1-2 per card (1 for basic reading and 2 for more insight, so the $2 is optional) with an optional extra $5 if you want pictures of all of my notes after! I would do it over text, tumblr dm, or instagram dm (can't do online calls), but I include sending pics of the cards and full spread in the base price :) ofc DM me for a reading or price estimate! (DM my witchy acct @soapy-sigils)

listen I'm the person that's always been skeptical of people having ideas in their dreams - they're lying abt the dream part bc both how do u have good ideas come out of dreams OR how tf do u remember that BUT
last night I had a dream about a Donatello plush and it was literally the best thing ever. it wasn't a specific iteration, it came with a removable mask, removable elbow and knee pad things, a staff that had an elastic thing on it to have him hold it himself, and glasses with a magnet to keep them on,,,, and the best part!!!
he had a little purple removable fanny pack that could be put on backwards, and the zipper to the fanny pack opens up to turn the whole thing into a little jacket that ties around his waist!! !
I cannot express with words how much I need him to be real. I need him. omfg he was literally the best thing ever.
I put together the color palette - and I also wanted to mention that he was Soft. like this was a snuggleable stuffed animal (minus the staff and glasses) so uhh yeah. here's the colors he was -
