I got the notification that my blog turned 2 years old today, wow! I can probably count the posts i’ve made in that time on one hand but TBHK is on hiatus and my Archie Sonic posts get lost in the endless void.

So give me suggestions! I want to analyze or just talk about more media.

I still think katawa shoujo has the best opening of any vn I've played. You're in the snow waiting for someone who sent you a love letter and she shows up and it's the girl of your dreams and you're so nervous that your heart starts pounding. And the sound effect is so loud and it beats harder and there's a visual effect around the screen like you're seeing red and hang on isn't this a bit too much heart pounding for a confession? And then you pass out because you were actually having a heart attack.

Bunnie Rabbot’s best story

Archie Sonic has been on my mind recently so obviously i’ve been thinking about my favorite Freedom Fighter, Bunnie. Bunnie is one of the reasons I wish the genesis wave didn’t happen because of how rich her backstory was in the pre-boot. This is by no means to downplay Bunnie’s character in the reboot but I generally prefer the preboot in many instances. I truly believe that if it was given a bit more time with Ian Flynn has a writer it could’ve been the most in depth Sonic continuity we have.

Firstly the Southern Barones conflict with the main Acorn Kingdom has always been so interesting to me. The history of the Southern Barones isn’t stated in the comics but in the encyclopedia. They were founded during a rocky point of the Acorn Kingdom right after a brief skirmish with the Overlanders. The king at the time (King Abraham) introduced the Southern Baronies to the kingdom to hopefully appeal the distrustful citizens. This led to a supposedly oppressive structure for the Southern Baronies (note that this is said by an unreliable source and in air quotes in the encyclopedia).

So this already makes the Southern Baronies interesting to explore how the Mobians of the area reacted to this. We can later see this in the midst of the Great War, where many of the Southern Baronians(?) joined the Overlanders in the war.

And would you look at that. Bunnie’s parents seemed to be big conspires in this.

Honestly this is apart of Bunnie’s character that I’ve never seen anyone talk about. The family you’re born with vs the family you choose. It’s clear by just the expressions in this panel that when Bunnie’s parents made this deal they don’t seem to be concerned with their daughter. In that moment Bunnie’s aunt and uncle (Beauregard) took her in and raised her as their own.

When Bunnie got older she obviously had questions about her parents that she hardly ever got to meet. This caused her and Beauregard to get in a very heated argument. Bunnie not wanting to believe her parents were traitors ran away, eventually becoming apart of the Freedom Fighters. Along with of course becoming Bunnie D’Coolette.

This is where a personal favorite Bunnie story takes place. After a call from the Sand Blasters, Bunnie and Sonic go in to investigate. Meeting and all too familiar face when she and Sonic are separated.

It’s such a sweet moment, but it’s cut short by well reality. While Beauregard is willing to step aside his distaste of Bunnie’s marriage, he doesn’t know how long he’ll be able to keep the peace with Bunnie since he works for the Dark Egg Legion (DEL). However he isn’t evil, he still cares deeply for his niece. Being pushed into the DEL due to the rejection of he and other past robians by the Sand Blasters.

Bunnie of course siding with the man she’s known all her life. The person who raised her as his own. The only family she has left.

Going as far as to fight Sonic when he threatens the Refinery that Beauregard is tasked to protect. This is such a turning point for Bunnie and her relationship with her uncle. This is a turning point for how some DEL members are characterized. Not all of them are evil, not all of them even want to be working with Eggman. Nothing is ever that simple.

So when Sonic and Bunnie come up with the idea to purposely destory the refinery with their ‘fight’ neither side is particularly happy.

Especially Beauregard, I can see the betrayal and bitterness in this panel which makes this feel all the more real. Despite this panel though a few pages later he saves her life , which leads to the most heartbreaking interaction in the comic.

The anger in Beauregard’s eyes, marching up to his niece, no his daughter, after she’s not only siding with the people who outcasts him but also married the son of the general who oppressed the Southern Baronies.

And the terrified conviction in Bunnie’s eyes. She knows what she has to do and she can’t back down. Even after trying so hard to keep her uncle close, she will never be able to embrace him as family ever again.

This scene is where the decision is truely made. There’s no nicknames no “uncle Beau” no “Buns” or “Darlin’” just “Mrs. D’Coolette” and “Grandmaster Rabbot.” They go their separate ways, they’ve chosen their side. They are no longer family despite how much they love each other.

After this? Well, Bunnie got derobotized and then the comic rebooted. This is one of the best stories of the Preboot, I wish we could’ve gotten more of Bunnie and Beauregard.

My Archie Sonic recommendations

Recently I've seen a spike in interest in the Archie Sonic comics. Weather you've known about the comics for awhile or have recently heard of the characters through the code of Sonic Blitz; I've tried collecting a few issues that could help you get a feel for the series.

New chapter soon, everyone dread and or cheer!

Now I didn’t talk about the past chapter because honestly there’s so many implications in this, so let’s try to point everything out when it comes to Amane.

Firstly; the Amane Nene is speaking to in this timeline is one who met when he was 8 years old at the festival. That much is pretty much confirmed.

But that’s not what interests me, in fact it’s something that Nene points out herself.

I find it interesting that she specifically asks what Amane she spoke to the first time, as if it isn’t the same one. Apart of me doesn’t think that it is.

Firstly let’s point out the basics; design. The first thing I noticed about this Amane is the fact that his bandages are gone.

Though many of you may think that it’s irreverent, after all the bandages have no significance, especially when the other parts of the design are the same.

I’d argue that it’s very important. After all when we’re first introduced to Amane through Tsuchigomori’s flashback.

He’s told him a dozen times. This has happened a dozen times. If this has happened a dozen times, wouldn’t it make more sense for the Amane that Nene is talking to, to be covered in bandages?

But this is where it gets really interesting. Y’know the flashback of Amane fixing the clock in chapter 101.

Not a bandage in sight.

This crosses more into theory section which i’m notoriously bad at but bare with me here.

I think by Nene meeting Amane at the festival changed something to where he doesn’t need to wear bandages anymore. I think the bandages more so a symbol of two different Amanes. The Amane with bandages is the Hanako we know. The Amane without is the one Nene is talking to.

Without bandages Amane knows that Tsukasa has been replaced. Since he was shown working on the clock I think he managed to go back in time, trying to stop his brother from sacrificing himself on that fateful fourth birthday.

Maybe i’m over thinking it but this could make a lot of sense given the foreshadowing we’ve been given. Either way, thank you for reading the rambles of an over analyzing nerd.

Explaining why hakubo is not a groomer (yea ppl think he is)

So first of all, he ages different since he's an oni, yea he has lived sm years but he ages slower he doesn't look adult at all (yea he looks so dang tall but bro is build different)

Hakubo wasn't there to be her caretaker, he was sent to watch she doesn't escape.

Sumire started calling him her husband since child cuz first she was confused, she hears she was gonna be a bride so she though Hakubo was her husband

Then she decides he was gonna be her informal husband LOL

And as time went by, the title of husband stayed

Sumire had no problem playing as the wife, at the end back hakubo is kinda stupid being a caretaker, so she prefer had a traditional husband-wife relationship

That time Sumire was a child, he did not see her as his child he saw her like another mision from the minamotos, with the passage of time he began to have real appreciation for her

OH MY GOD THE NEWEST CHAPTER?

I find so interesting how Nene is trying to save everyone but failing every time. It’s the cost of using the clock keeper’s yorishiro. Akane coming because he’s the only one who can remember past timelines consistently (or at the very least with the aid of the other clock keepers). The cat, Catkasa if you prefer, pushing Nene out of the way so she can try to save people it’s just MWAH. Amazing.

This is likely going to be one of the last arcs of TBHK, I believe there’s only going to be 1 or 2 more arcs plus an epilogue. I believe this may be how Nene dies, this could’ve been how she dies at the very least if Akane didn’t come in.

There’s so much to talk and theorize about. I absolutely love it.

New tbhk chapter today, here’s what my prediction is!

I think the girl in the chapter art is Mirai but older, likely the living version of her.

This living Mirai will likely have something happen to her. Kako, being a heartbroken father or grandfather and likely a toy maker given the ‘christmas wonderland’ vibe, would try to revive her. It’s clear that Mirai, out of all the clock keepers is the most ‘doll like’. More so than Kako and obviously Akane. This leads me to believe that Kako was trying everything to bring his child back.

It’s no secret that the Clock Keepers have a more family dynamic (despite Akane’s protests.) So I believe that it’s set in stone that Kako and Mirai were family before they became mysteries. I believe there’s also a possibility of a third entity to represent the present. The clock keepers have always been a team of three, so it would make sense that there’s third entity in their backstory.

I will say the last part is a bit of a stretch, however it’s important to consider.
