Here's an analysis of every new Snezhnayan characters name :3
The name Alyosha has Russian origins, gaining popularity because of Dostoyevsky's book "The Brothers Karmazov" in which the main character has this name. Because of what we see in the trailer, he might be a Vourdalak which is a slavic werewolf :3
A Vodyanitsa is a creature from slavic mythology who's name directly translates to "watery woman". However, I'm pretty sure she might be a human because Genshin decided to use the "Lauma" format, in which they take a mythological creatures, use its name, heavily basing the design around it, however the character themselves does not represent their name sakes powers! By this I mean that Laumas design heavily represents the goddess of fertility from which she gets her name, however she's a centaur deer thing
Odette may be directly inspired by Swan Lake, having the same name as the main character and a design heavily inspired by it. The name Odette is actually French (ette is a diminutive used to turn a word feminine) and I first I thought she was from Fontaine, but in the trailer we can she she has a Snezhnayan vision case, and she's cryo by the way :3
The name Valeriy is a traditional Ukrainian/Russian name, adopted From Latin where it meant "brave". Bears like the one in the Snezhnaya trailer are pretty commonly found in Russian Folklore, representing strength and power which is fitting for a character like him. From his design, I think he's a fatui agent who was on a mission in nod varer krai, because their uniforms look quite similar 😼😼
The name Mitya is short for Dimitry, a common Russian name for boys. He doesn't have any direct real worl connexions, the most famous Dimitry being a composer. If you wanted to take a stretch, Dimitry's mother was an astronomer just like Mitya appears to be, however I Mitya don't think that's intentional :(
Noy is the Bulgarian version of the name Noah, and judging by his design I'm like 90% sure he's a vampire. That or he might be somehow connected to the Sovereigns or Rerir because he has slit pupils. Or maybe he's a different type of fae. Who knows tbh his whole thing is confusing to me but I'm sure he's gonna be lore important
And for Vesna and Danica there wasn't anything special and note-worthy tbh. Vesna is a mythological character who represenrs spring, however I don't see how it can be connected to her character, and Danica is just a common name for girls
