BACKROOMS 2026 SPOILERS

immediately post-viewing, i have a few thoughts about costuming from backrooms 2026.

clark is almost always seen wearing purple, but the shade gets darker as the film progresses. it starts off as a washed-out lilac that blends in with the backrooms color scheme, but in the dinner scene it’s closer to black than purple. purple is the color of royalty, which could be seen as his ego swelling through the movie. in the therapy scene, he’s almost willing to accept his issues with his wife, but the backrooms provides him an almost echochamber type environment where he doesn’t have to acknowledge his shitty behavior. (this is also just a smaller scale of what i believe to be the point of the movie; that dwelling in the past and having nostalgia for moments that were better/worse than you can remember doesn’t help you, it just keeps you in the endless loop (that is the backrooms). in order to escape your behavior, uou need to put the memory to rest (or open the window of your shitty mom’s house), or else the cycle of trauma will consume you. (like it did mary at the end))

mary always wears patterns, but in the final scene when she’s speaking with phil she’s just wearing a blank tank top. it’s like a preamble to her finally blending into the scenery of the backrooms.

in the final scene, phil is wearing a blue shirt and holding a blue folder, the same color as the artificial sky behind mary. it makes him feel just as artificial as the sky backdrop, and it makes me think that it’s an immediate visual indicator that he’s lying about something. maybe async knew that mary would become a still-life, and they were trying to get as much information out of her before she finally melded into the backrooms. maybe he wasn’t going to tell her anything even if she did survive. maybe he’s never been into the backrooms as he claimed, and that’s why he hasn’t molded into it yet, because the same type of person that runs into the backrooms to escape the real world is the type of person to fall victim to it. phil has a family to run to, a family in the blue sky outside the window, one that mary and clark lacked, which is why they ran to nostalgia and memories.

i might be talking out of my ass with this because i saw it three hours ago and its past midnight as im writing this but these are just some surface level observations.

Digimon Remodelled Au!!

I drew these a WHIIIIILE back too! I had a huuuge Digimon phase that might be resurfacing. So naturally I HAD to make an au for Remodelled. I did only end up drawing Puppet.. but I'll probably draw other characters again at some point!!

Allen Macdonald was hired on with no previous Wolf Universe experience under his belt (that I'm aware of, thank God) and he has been CLOCKING IN FOR HIS SHIFT EVER SINCE THE INK DRIED ON THAT CONTRACT.

Not only is Med delivering very solid episodes it's also REACHING back into characters we've seen for YEARS some a decade atp and developing their characters by BEAUTIFULLY and sometimes painfully TELLING THEIR STORIES. Providing you with the blueprint on who these characters are what makes them go and how they got there. It is not forced it is not randomly placed or paced but instead intricately woven throughout the season until one day you get an episode THEE episode and it all falls together and makes sense.

Dr. Charles sl has been simmering in the background for much of this season and then it all comes to ahead with last weeks episode AND this week's.

You can tell he did his research and homework before entering that writers room. You can tell the standards and expectations he has for this team in the slightest details like pulling a wife that was mentioned that one time in a pilot episode. That type is dedication to the job can't exist in the same space that complacency breeds in (where Andrea resides).

You may not always get the story you WANT but you get a COMPLETE story nonetheless. You may not like the answers to his questions but you get an ANSWER. Not just twists and turns and lies.

Say what you want but Chicago Med is absolutely CRUSHING it (in my opinion). When the season finale airs we will walk away with a plethora of storylines that can be recalled and talked about. Some heartbreaking some beautiful some funny some that will leave you questioning but INVESTED in what's to come next season.

When fire wraps you will be left with Stellaride misery, an unnecessary love triangle, a house fire and a another battalion chief with a stick up his ass.

The best One Chicago storyline will always be, hands down, the deterioration and suicide of Dr. Jason Wheeler

The lead-up, the subtleness, the realism.

The reality of how people fall deeper into depression, the way people miss the signs.

The fact that you don't see it when you're watching but when you rewatch it it feels so obvious and gut-wrenching.

The reactions of everyone after. The fact that people who weren't even close to him, the people who we don't even see him interact with, falling into despair. Wishing they knew, wishing they could tell him they cared.

Nothing will ever top the storytelling.
