Ezra watched her curiously as she seemed to almost like a small child attempting the ‘if they can’t see it, it’s not there’ approach to a mess. His brows furrowed at her words though and all he could do was just gape a bit, not unlike a fish plucked right from the river, and say, “Chemical-do-what’s-it-nows?”
“‘Fraid not doc. Though, between you and me, I think I’d make a rather lovely Penelope, no?” he said with a smile and a look of haughtiness that could only be described as comical. Ezra found that watching the woman move around was quite entertaining - which even he himself would admit was an odd way of describing things. “Uh, not that I’m particularly aware, but I reckon as I’m around smokers quite a bit, it couldn’t hurt to check?”
Charlie smiled at his expression and pointed with the tip of her pen. “Chemical Kinetics. Did you attend Chemistry in school?” She asked and realized that was a rather personal question so quickly blurts out. “The Ornithorhynchus anatinus is one of two mammals that lay eggs, but fertilized eggs stay in the mother’s body for around 28 days. Then after the eggs are laid they must be incubated for another ten—“ By his light. She hadn’t even meant to say any of that. Her hair whips around her face as she shakes her head from side to side. “I’m not sure.. where..I was..” Flustered barely covers it as she turns to the chart and points. Mainly to hide the undertone of pink glowing at her cheeks. “These ingredients might brew an affordable substance to counter pain prescriptions for inflamed..ah..joints.”
“Right.” She was supposed to be doing his checkup and here she was going on about Platypuses and Chemical Kinetics. “You..you would make a ll-lovely Penny.” Charlotte replied nervously and nodded. Quite frightened what might just fly out of her mouth, as she should be. Charlotte moved closer with the scope touching the cold metal against his chest. She quiets down as she listens to the sound of his heartbeat. It was rather therapeutic if she were being honest. Then she opens her mouth spewing out, “The gestation period for the Capra aegagrus hircus is between one hundred forty-eight days and..er..” Charlie sighed. She didn’t know why Ezra’s appearance was making her brain spit out random facts about mammal gestation, but she wasn’t a fan. She nervously murmurs softly. “Take two deep breaths, please.”
