You know what, in accordance with the survivor's journal we find there should've been the petrified bodies of civilians in Old Lumiere just like we find the corpses of past expeditioners everywhere.
Let's see some children stuck in their last moments of getting brutally killed, terrified out of their mind, to show what exactly it was that Renoir and Clea did to these people during the Fracture.
One of the reasons Verso's ending doesn't work for me, besides, you know, the canvas people issue and all the unresolved emotional damage the dessendre have caused each other, is the kind of grim reality of Alicia’s physical state.
Like half her body is covered in 3rd degree burns and she has a damaged throat and lungs, and maybe I'm a bit too cynical here, but all that talk on how staying in the Canvas will kill Alicia falls a bit flat when from my point of view she won't make it past like 30 because something as simple as the flu will kill her.

I wanted to draw her smiling because she deserves to have a good time I think. And also because the contrast between her appearance and her expressing positive emotions is really endearing to me

Purposefully left looking unfinished so she'll always be reminded she's imperfect and incomplete. I also tried to make it so that the human aspects of her look (skin and hair) lowkey make her look more unpleasant than if she was a full-on monster but I may be speaking from a place of massive bias
The dark blue ink on her face is always dripping, so she looks like she's crying. It's meant to be a mockery of her Paintress mask (her real world sign of power) while also making her private feelings of grief outward and thus make her look kind of pitiful
White skin in connection to white Nevrons, since their colour marks them as failures.
Cracks on skin for 1. the slight resemblance to what her parents look like in their Curator/Paintress forms 2. to further add to the imperfection motif and 3. to sort of suggest she HAS cracked under all the pressure and she couldn't handle it
Took the neck symbol design from her concept art and added them on her wrists to resemble chains. Chroma attached to them gives the impression of marionette on strings. I'm throwing her a bone and making it visually extremely clear that she's resisting so strongly that you can't even hide it.
Not a visual thing but she's not entirely silent. It's just that she sounds like the Curator so nobody understands her so them it just sounds like monstrous wailing
