I can’t keep fucking doing this
This Ramadan do a good deed and commission a short writing piece of choice from a distraught Muslim so they don’t get bogged down in debt for having the audacity to cover expenses for a family of 8 whilst unemployed
Writing sample (1?) below the cut:
Ricky spies his companion of choice for the night easily. Eddie is hovering by the door, no doubt having to play informal host and bouncer for everyone filing in. He's wearing the hat. It brings a small but very pleased grin to Ricky's face.
He slows his pace a beat so the others, including Isak, can move ahead. Isak looks at him with a query in his eyes, but Ricky only motions for him to keep moving. He's not interested in having his little brother in hearing distance tonight.
Ricky's eyes, sharp as they are, scrutinize Eddie's form with great clarity even from this distance. A part of him had been concerned, after what went down in the woods, about whether Eddie would even be well enough to partake in the party he'd organized. Whilst he doubts the boy's gotten over his grievances, it's good to see him more settled and almost back to his usual exuberance.
Ricky's face unconsciously softens in fondness. He ignores Isak, who grimaces at him before hurrying off. Probably to see that boy. Ugh. Just the thought of it irritates him, and any fondness disappears into a tight blankness.
Anita is inside, and spies him first. She makes a face of disgust, which only incites Ricky to flash her a mockingly exaggerated smile. She rolls her eyes and taps her knuckles on Eddie's shoulder, pointing out the door.
Ricky smiles more genuinely, though with no little mischief, when Eddie makes eye contact. Had this been a different, more private setting, Ricky would have bounded over and cornered Eddie against a surface immediately. Instead, he settles for a meandering stalk, stopping only a little too close to his favorite boy to pass as friendly.
"Eddie," he says, exaggerating the vowels. "Fancy seeing you here."
Ricky flicks at the gallon hat sitting on Eddie's hat. His hat. That won't ever stop exciting him.
"Where'd you get this beauty, I wonder," he says with a sly grin. "Never took you for a rancher. Get a side gig recently? Southern boyfriend even?"
