You stated that dream Greatly fears ever hurting palette.. so what if he did?
How would both swan and dream (and any other alters, ofc only if you feel like talking about them :3) react individually if they caused palette harm by accident? Say something small, like walking too quickly, not watching where they're going, and accidentally knocking him over and he like, gets a scraped knee or something, what then

Accidental slight harm Is taken pretty seriously. Lets say swan trains to hard with palette and bruises him accidentally. I think Dream in general try’s to keep a face around palette or avoids him when his episodes are triggered but repentance for that harm is nessesary.
Dream has a book where he logs any injury he’s done to palette, or any grievance even.. he re-reads it every day and reminds himself of his own mistakes. He has rituallized punishments for himself- from minor stuff like over working himself as a punishment to amputating himself. (Don’t worry he knows magic to bring back his missing parts, It’s just to experience the extreme pain as a momentary punishment) But Dreams very hard on penance.
But l if he caused genuine psychological damage to palette- like if palette told him how dreams expectations on him are too high and it’s been hurting him, he’d kill himself. Doesn’t really matter who’s fronting Swan would do that as much as Owl would.
I mean not in-front of palette right then and there, but he’d give palette away to a trusted friend in a week. I know that’s an extreme reaction but in his mind it makes sense fully.
