yeah okay ill reblog that
Serious explanation here: she's teaching them the instinct of being alert around enclosure openings! For example, if these were wild cats living in a bush, they'd run the risk of a larger predator running up to the opening and grabbing one of them. The mother cat is also only bapping them lightly without claws, so those slaps are more of an annoyance meant to get the kittens' attention, and to teach them to keep their eyes out for potential threats.

i am once again asking you all to stop fucking using “lives with their parents” as an insult. humans live in groups, sometimes (frequently) those groups include multiple generations, get the fuck over it. it’s weird as hell to act like THAT’S somehow unnatural or creepy or pathetic instead of like, anything that actually matters at all.
I moved back in with my folks a decade ago. It was meant to be stop gap while I changed careers but things worked out differently.
Why would I pay rent to a landlord when I can pay my parents money and handle some of the bills?
My folks are in their 70s and I have taken over the heavy-lifting jobs like firewood and gardening,
I share the cooking and cleaning so it doesn’t all fall on my mother
my Mum had knee replacement surgeries and I was her nurse, I am my father’s tech support,
plus my mother is one of my best friends.
In return,
I live in a house I love,
a garden to tend which feeds my spirit, a home which is large enough to allow us to have separate spaces or share space when we want company
and when I am working long shifts there is a hot meal waiting as I walk through the door and anyone who lives alone knows that sinking feeling when you get home exhausted and realize that if you are going to eat you have to summon up enough energy to cook so eating can happen.
All of this is wonderful and not only works so well for all three of us but also there is no other arrangement which would make as much sense… And yet, I always feel the need to explain all of this to justify why I live with my parents.
Generational living arrangements can be wonderful when it works for everyone involved and in my case, my hope is to eventually buy our house from my folks so that all the upkeep and taxes can fall on my shoulders, freeing them up to do what they want with their time and money.
This is an important conversation

I love this video so much. This cat, trying so hard to sip like a people. Desperate to sip like a people. Objectively incapable of sipping like a people.
