Please have a moment of silence for the people who were killed instead of freed when news of emancipation finally reached the furthest corners of the american south.
have another moment for the ledgers, catalogs, and records that were burned and the homes that were destroyed to hide the presence of very much alive and still enslaved people on dozens of plantations and homesteads across the south for decades after emancipation.
and have a third moment for those who were hunted and killed while fleeing the south to find safety across the border, overseas, in the north and to the west.
black people. light a candle, write a note to those who have passed telling them what you have achieved in spite of the racist and intolerant conditions of this world, feel the warmth of the flame under your hand, say a prayer of rememberance if you are religious, place the note under the candle, and then blow it out.
if you have children, sit them down and tell them anything you know about the life of oldest black person you've ever met. it doesn't have to be your own family. tell them what you know about what life was like for us in the days, years, decades after emancipation. if you don't know much, look it up and learn about it together.

Metadede headcannons because I'm too lazy to draw anything
-Dedede purposefully calls Meta Knight cute names in front of his crew ( blueberry, sugar knight, etc.)
-Anytime Dedede is on the Halberd, the crew gives Meta Knight "looks."
-Meta Knight's heart melts anytime he sees Dedede coddling his waddle dees.
-Dedede blowing kisses to Meta when no one's looking.
-Big penguin himbo with edgy indigo borb I mean c'mon guys what more could you want
-Meta Knight tries to say something sly to King Dedede but ends up making a fool of himself.
-Dedede sometimes gets bored when doing his duties as a king and just starts to daydream about Meta Knight.
-Meta Knight says he needs help on the Halberd but in reality he just wants to see his bf lift heavy stuff 'cause he's a simp for strong Dedede.
-Dedede absolutely LOSES IT when Meta Knight starts speaking Spanish seductively in a low tone.
-Meta Knight staring at Dedede until he gets his attention.
-Bandana Dee stays woke because he already knew about their relationship before anyone else, even before Dedede and Meta Knight.
-Meta Knight getting lost in fluff when being hugged by Dedede.

he tries to remain very stoic and reserved
but when youll wrap your arms around him and tangle your legs with his and rest your head in the crook of his neck while he lays on his back he won’t make you move
he’ll pretend to only tolerate it but inside oh my god that bot is beaming
like he could shortcircut with all the emotions he feels for you

this boy loves cuddling
its like his favorite thing to do with you while he’s in his holoform because he can feel you against his skin and hear your heartbeat and just be so close to you
there isnt a specific way you two cuddle
you sometimes ask yourself if he dipped himself in glue before climbing into bed because he sticks to you with every movement
locks of cheek and neck kisses and limbs tangled into oblivion

after a long and strenuous day of work and patching up the team all ratchet wants to do is collapse into bed and pass out
he usually sleeps on his side with his back turned towards you
you don’t complain or argue with him, knowing it’ll do nothing but make you both upset (and still wont make him cuddle with you)
but you do scoot closer to him
and nuzzle against his back
he wont say anything, but you can feel him relax at your touch
truth is, feeling you against him is the most comforting thing to him
Optimus
laying in bed with you after a long hard day is one of oppie’s favorite things
he is tense, and tired, and youre in bed before he is
hes quiet, and lies down on his stomach, practically on top of you with his arm around you
you kiss his forehead and run your hands through his hair and up and down his back, feeling him relax at your touch
while doing so, if you both have just enough energy, you’ll make small talk about your days and random things until you fall asleep
