i love the detail of zubats ears resembling eyes. Its so clever and subtle
Something neuroscience-y that helps with prose: attention is selective. A character will not notice everything in a room. They will notice what matters to their goal, fear, desire, training, wound, or obsession. A jealous character notices hands. a hungry character notices food. A soldier notices exits. A lonely character notices pairs. Description becomes character when attention has a bias.

As an adult I think me and all my friends should all have matching schedules and work like 20 hours a week and also everyone lives within 15 minutes of each other why is that so much to ask

The Enigma of Amigara Fault
This short story by Junji Ito is about a fault that appears in Amigara mountain after an earthquake. The earthquake exposes countless human-shaped holes in the mountain which seem to have been made about a thousand years ago. People, intrigued by these silhouettes, gather at the site and thatâs when things get creepy.
Itâs about a 15-20 min read, but if you havenât read this before, youâre in for a treat. Link above.
i mean itâs not like i can just NOT reblog amigara fault. what if one of my followers is one of the lucky ten thousand who HASNâT been unutturably altered for life by it yet? go read it! itâs creepy, but trust me, it was made for you.

Gott nimm meine PeriodenkrÀmpfe und gib sie Friedrich Merz
all the âpeer pressure is badâ education we give kids is practically useless because all it cares about is telling them that Drugs Are Evil rather than the much more useful lesson of âthe person who responds to you saying you donât drink by telling you theyâll find a way to get you to is also going to be shitty about all your other boundariesâ.
god forbid you teach kids that their consent should be respected rather than about the inherent immorality of all the sinful actions of their peers
discord has turned people into wild animals
âbut what if you abort the baby whoâll cure cancer?!â sir the baby who will cure cancer is an organic chemistry major who works at a Home Depot because you use AI to go through your resumes
"I am, somehow, less interested in the weight and convolutions of Einsteinâs brain than in the near certainty that people of equal talent have lived and died in cotton fields and sweatshops." - Stephen Jay Gould, The Panda's Thumb: More Reflections in Natural History
if you have a bad enough sense of direction and spatial memory, all big buildings are the Backrooms. those people aren't special.
Dahling you simply must read this book! Itâs all about this devious little caterpillar who simply gorges himself on all manner of divine things
