This year I’m gonna try to play as many final fantasy games as i can, in order

I’ll probably skip 7 and 7remake because i played 7 like two years ago and I’ve been watching a 7remake playthrough by chip and ironicus. Also no 11 bc it’s a dead MMO. And no 14 (yet) because the whole reason I’m doing this thing is so i can pick up on all the little details and homages that 14 has in it. Also it’s still live service

Constant promotion suffocating any semblance of original blog/subreddit/forum intent sucks. The worst that I’ve seen has actually been here on tumblr and I absolutely noticed when people here started to astroturf the subreddit for anything asking about an investigative game, all around the same time and from accounts who never posted there before and rarely if ever actually meeting the requester’s criteria. It was annoying but technically allowed. This new rule would make that disallowed and tbh I’m still not happy abt it bc someone somewhere found out about their new favorite game from one of those slimy promo comments.

I would rather be annoyed by infrequent roundabout self promo than only ever read about how Stars Without Number is perfect or how DnD sucks for the millionth time. It’s always been that to a degree but it’s also gotten so mean and smarmy the past few years so a lot of the more helpful people have been stepping back (yes I include myself in this I used to like talking to people there and helping them out!) Like forcing people into participation with a mean smarmy argumentative community isn’t the ace in the hole the mods think it is, especially when the actual issue here is that “self promo” includes shit that normal people wouldn’t consider to actually be self promo.

I'm sorry but the RPG reddit community taking their already very strict anti-self promotion and amending it to include any mention of your games in any discussion context is hilarious. I just spent hours scrolling there to see if there's anything worth engaging with that wouldn't get deleted? It's the same repetitive threads over and over. Why have a community about games where people can't...talk about games.

Wow somehow LiS Reunion was even worse than I expected. It’s Rise of Skywalker vibes. Push aside most of what was just established, make an asspull for a favorite character to be here, cater to the loudest fans.

The mystery sucks, the journals suck, the game performance is garbage, the returning DE characters get peanuts, the dialogue is ehh, the performances are hit or miss (Ashly Burch got fucked over even tho Rhianna DeVries does probably the best work in the game) and the final hour is a laughable mess.

I just keep thinking about how tragic queer media can still be good and important, and how this game took a piece of pretty good tragic queer media and basically tumblrfied it. It’s bad fanfic. If it were good fanfic I wouldn’t be so hard on it.

God I hope this is the last LiS game, D9 proved years ago they just don’t have the writing chops for it.

It has been over a year. I did not know what Bluey was before I made this post. I am not going to watch Bluey because of responses on this post. Also, I wanted to let all you guys know that Bob the Builder teaches us all lessons about construction equipment in a way no other show does, making it far more meaningful and important than what 99% of vapid adult programming has to offer. I do think the Bloodlines 1 was an excellent introduction to VTM politics in that most chronicles will have you, as a fledgling player, be heavily brainwashed towards Camarilla or Anarch bipartisan bullshit depending on the circumstances of your Embrace, but VTMB1 showed that Camarilla vs Anarch is largely a false dichotomy whose antagonism is largely a method of self-sustaining the other's existence and identity. They are the core and the periphery, but they're all still part of one system. Vampires in both factions share the same interests, concerns, and structures just with different trappings. The real "outsiders" aren't Anarchs — it's the Sabbat, the Kuei Jin, and the Autarkis like Beckett and possibly the player character.
