I haven't forgotten and I check the fic at least once a week patiently waiting for the next chapter. I'm feeling rage. I was just reading a fanfic while I'm waiting to fill the hole that wolfbird has left in my heart and it made no sense and there are lines that are repetitive and like confusing and at some point I realized it was ai. And what I'm deeply struggling with is that people were out here saying that wolfbird was ai? Bc you read it and just know a real person wrote it with genuine feelings and emotions and it makes sense and oppal-apparition is so intentional with how they build in plot points.

Also FUCK ai written fics. But I know that wolfbird is real and I miss it. That's all maybe I'm not angry maybe I'm just sad

My love letter to Wolfbird.

I'm not trying to be dramatic when I say this but I've been depressed for the last few days and after giving it some thought I think I miss the version of Shane and ilya in Wolfbird so much that it feels like I miss a friend and I think that's fucked up and I should talk to my therapist Abt it. But it tells me that @opal-apparition is such a good writer that I'm literally experiencing grief over these written depictions of fictional characters. I feel like a simp but dear opal I hope u know how much ur writing has affected my life. And I swear I'm not trying to be dramatic but I really resonated with the way you wrote ilya and esp the homophobic ethnic family and the way he interacts with them bc I was getting war flashbacks u have literally nailed it. HOW on EARTH could anyone dislike your writing??? I see u queen and I need you to know Wolfbird has consumed my thoughts for days now.

I have been reading fanfiction since I was a child. When heated rivalry came out a friend of mine said she understood the hype but was not impressed bc she felt like the rest of the world that judged us for loving our fictional characters and creating art for them had finally decided that the things we loved were cool to them. As a southasian women it feels the same way that it feels like when designers steal our culture and call it vintage fashion. BUT THE WORST FEELING is after years of feeling disconnected from a fandom and my lgbtq roots, I got back into reading fanfiction only to discover that my favorite works will maybe never get finished. Bc once again people who don't understand how to be kind or respectful ruin it for everyone!

IF YOU DARE COME INTO OUR WORLD, STEP WITH CARE. LIKE A PERSON IN A FOREIGN COUNTRY, RESPECT OUR CUSTOMS AND TREAT OUR ARTISTS WITH RESPECT. and if they want to stop sharing that art with us that is a boundary they have EVERY right to set. ITS THEIR ART AND THEY WERE KIND ENOUGH TO SHARE IT!

I hope that the author of Wolfbird knows that they are appreciated and their writing is cherished. That there are people here who will not watch as their favorite writers suffer. And for all the other authors out there who feel the same, your art is not a trend and those passing by are not a reflection of all of us.
