i am weirdly obsessed with the concept of petunia having misophonia with no one really knowing. so, when she was about 11/12/13 (y'know, where it starts for most people) she started glaring at lily for every sound she made & she couldn't be in one room with her because she couldn't stand the breathing. lily thought petunia resented her for being a witch, but petunia just resented the sounds she made; not her. so when petunia is older, it still is bad when vernon & dudley make sounds, but she doesn't want it to be true. so she tries for everything to be this picture perfect house and spoils dudley and all to tell herself "i'm normal i'm normal i'm normal". it doesn't really work tho. of course it doesn't. but when harry comes there, she has a reason to be mean. to be angry. to be horrible. and she uses that reason because if she didn't then maybe she would lose vernon & dudley in the same way that she lost lily

lily was the one who worked so hard to be more than a wife, she wanted to be remembered for who she was and what she could do. she put in all her effort for that, while petunia was the one who wanted to be what others wanted her to be. she suppressed who she was to become something people wanted to look at, were pleased to see. funny, how in the hp books, lily is only remembered as a mum and petunia is something people dislike and want away from
