Willow unclasped the worn silver. She let the cord slip through her scarred fingers. The cord was as black as her long hair, contrasted by the milky white crescent moon dangling on it everyday.
“It was mom’s.” She said with sentiment. Her wet eyes and sad smile studied the carved stone.
Willow looked in the mirror. She saw her doppelgänger’s hand stretched out toward herself. The necklace was simple, a round crescent moon with markings carved into it.
She she outstretched her arm beneath the other and let the necklace fall. She then studied it closely. She could see the imperfections now, little chips and dirt built up over the years. Beneath it there was a marbling effect, by a trick of the light it almost glowed.
Willow looked back into the reversed glass. She saw herself once again, but different. The hair on her head was white and cut short, framing her face.
“What do I do with this?” She asked, met only with silence.
With no answer, Willow put the cord around her neck and clasped the silver pieces together. The cold stone fell and hung against her skin. Willow stared into the mirror.
Who was she talking to?
