Have you ever gotten an exact match?

if by "exact match" you mean "100% of the letters in this post match 100% of an organism's entire genome," then the chances of that happening by pure accident are so ridiculously small, you'd have better odds buying 100 lottery tickets and winning all of them!

one of the cool reasons this blog works in any capacity is because genomes are so ridiculously big that the chances of a random string of letters accidentally matching part of one is very high. the human genome is ~3,200,000,000 base pairs (or "letters") long. that's about 1,000 times the length of the entire bible. pretty long for a tumblr post!

but even in the case of the smallest possible genomes, such as bacterial endosymbionts (famous for having tiny genomes) with only 100,000 base pairs, it'd still be practically impossible. you'd need to accidentally type the letters a, t, c, and g in the correct sequence 100,000 times to get a perfect match. imagine flipping 100,000 coins and getting heads on all of them. ok now imagine a cat named big boobs

@dq9 okkkk birdposting timeeee I do think the narrative relationship that rafal and nowak have ARE very similar to what takayama and karasuma have going on... I think Karasuma and Nowak are both very distrurbed by the seeming clarity of vision that Takayama and Rafal have and they are afraid because they can't understand it. The major difference between Karasuma and Nowak is their relative class positions to Takayama and Rafal respectively, and it's the reason that Nowak cannot change his ways while Karasuma grows as a person.

Because Karasuma's class interests as a birdman is ultimately the same as Takayama's, even if he takes no joy or pleasure from flying like the other members of the bird club, he is ruled by pragmatism and understands the necessity of flying as a main mechanism of self-defense. He is initially repelled by Takayama's behaviors, but finds himself growing closer to Takayama's mindset as time goes on because that's the inevitable course of events if he continues to make decisions in his own class interest.

Nowak on the other hand is not only an adult, but also a cop and a tool of the church, and he holds all the power in this situation. He genuinely believes that he is on the side of justice, and though Rafal shakes him deeply, he is in a position to ignore the pain and contradiction that Rafal's death causes him. The metaphorical voices of the dying that the birdmen hear comes only from his conscience. He is incentivized, from a social and monetary standpoint, to ignore the way Rafal moves him. abd then he's haunted by him forever. many such cases
