I'm disabled and so is the body. I hold symptoms of our depression but collectively we've got a whole lot of shit going on--psychosis, nerve issues, tics, ADHD, autism... A bunch of stuff.

I do think the term "kitchen table polycule" is very funny in the way I've heard it described to me, which is that it's a polycule where everyone is on friendly terms and could eat a meal together at the table. Which. Sounds like maybe the baseline for most poly situations??? That's like saying "I'm in a relationship with my alive girlfriend", like that's normally assumed, what do you mean alive. I can get not ending up being close with one's metamours, since people are different and not always compatible. However, I don't see why someone wouldn't want to at least try. You both care greatly about the same person, why shouldn't you see who the other person is and what they're like? You might not fit well together, sure, but if you do get along well there is a great joy in being close with someone whom you share a lover with, speaking from experience. Quite possibly, you will get along at least decently, because there is a reason your mutual partner is with both of you. So, why not try?

Even if it doesn't work out, its wise to at least have your meta's contact info, so if something happens to your mutual partner and only one of you hears, that information can be communicated.

Those who insist on not even trying to meet their metas and hell, not even HEARING about who these metas just seem like they're trying to pretend their partner doesn't have anyone else. Which sure sounds like it is unhealthy for them and uncomfortable for their partner.
