A nurse has heart attack and describes what she felt like when having one
I am an ER nurse and this is the best description of this event that I have ever heard.Ā
Ā FEMALE HEART ATTACKSĀ
Ā I was aware that female heart attacks are different, but this is description is so incredibly visceral that I feel like I have an entire new understanding of what it feels like to be living the symptoms on the inside. Women rarely have the same dramatic symptoms that men have⦠you know, the sudden stabbing pain in the chest, the cold sweat, grabbing the chest & dropping to the floor the we see in movies. Here is the story of one womanās experience with a heart attack:Ā
Ā "I had a heart attack at about 10:30 PM with NO prior exertion, NO prior emotional trauma that one would suspect might have brought it on. I was sitting all snugly & warm on a cold evening, with my purring cat in my lap, reading an interesting story my friend had sent me, and actually thinking, āA-A-h, this is the life, all cozy and warm in my soft, cushy Lazy Boy with my feet propped up. A moment later, I felt that awful sensation of indigestion, when youāve been in a hurry and grabbed a bite of sandwich and washed it down with a dash of water, and that hurried bite seems to feel like youāve swallowed a golf ball going down the esophagus in slow motion and it is most uncomfortable. You realize you shouldnāt have gulped it down so fast and needed to chew it more thoroughly and this time drink a glass of water to hasten its progress down to the stomach. This was my initial sensationāthe only trouble was that I hadnāt taken a bite of anything since about 5:00 p.m.Ā
After it seemed to subside, the next sensation was like little squeezing motions that seemed to be racing up my SPINE (hind-sight, it was probably my aorta spasms), gaining speed as they continued racing up and under my sternum (breast bone, where one presses rhythmically when administering CPR). This fascinating process continued on into my throat and branched out into both jaws. āAHA!! NOW I stopped puzzling about what was happening ā we all have read and/or heard about pain in the jaws being one of the signals of an MI happening, havenāt we? I said aloud to myself and the cat, Dear God, I think Iām having a heart attack! I lowered the foot rest dumping the cat from my lap, started to take a step and fell on the floor instead. I thought to myself, If this is a heart attack, I shouldnāt be walking into the next room where the phone is or anywhere else⦠but, on the other hand, if I donāt, nobody will know that I need help, and if I wait any longer I may not be able to get up in a moment.Ā
I pulled myself up with the arms of the chair, walked slowly into the next room and dialed the Paramedics⦠I told her I thought I was having a heart attack due to the pressure building under the sternum and radiating into my jaws. I didnāt feel hysterical or afraid, just stating the facts. She said she was sending the Paramedics over immediately, asked if the front door was near to me, and if so, to un-bolt the door and then lie down on the floor where they could see me when they came in. I unlocked the door and then laid down on the floor as instructed and lost consciousness, as I donāt remember the medics coming in, their examination, lifting me onto a gurney or getting me into their ambulance, or hearing the call they made to St. Jude ER on the way, but I did briefly awaken when we arrived and saw that the radiologist was already there in his surgical blues and cap, helping the medics pull my stretcher out of the ambulance. He was bending over me asking questions (probably something like āHave you taken any medications?ā) but I couldnāt make my mind interpret what he was saying, or form an answer, and nodded off again, not waking up until the Cardiologist and partner had already threaded the teeny angiogram balloon up my femoral artery into the aorta and into my heart where they installed 2 side by side stints to hold open my right coronary artery.Ā
I know it sounds like all my thinking and actions at home must have taken at least 20-30 minutes before calling the paramedics, but actually it took perhaps 4-5 minutes before the call, and both the fire station and St Jude are only minutes away from my home, and my Cardiologist was already to go to the OR in his scrubs and get going on restarting my heart (which had stopped somewhere between my arrival and the procedure) and installing the stents. Why have I written all of this to you with so much detail? Because I want all of you who are so important in my life to know what I learned first hand.Ā
1. Be aware that something very different is happening in your body, not the usual menās symptoms but inexplicable things happening (until my sternum and jaws got into the act). It is said that many more women than men die of their first (and last) MI because they didnāt know they were having one and commonly mistake it as indigestion, take some Maalox or other anti-heartburn preparation and go to bed, hoping theyāll feel better in the morning when they wake up⦠which doesnāt happen. My female friends, your symptoms might not be exactly like mine, so I advise you to call the Paramedics if ANYTHING is unpleasantly happening that youāve not felt before. It is better to have a āfalse alarmā visitation than to risk your life guessing what it might be! 2. Note that I said āCall the Paramedics.ā And if you can take an aspirin. Ladies, TIME IS OF THE ESSENCE! Do NOT try to drive yourself to the ER - you are a hazard to others on the road. Do NOT have your panicked husband who will be speeding and looking anxiously at whatās happening with you instead of the road. Do NOT call your doctor ā he doesnāt know where you live and if itās at night you wonāt reach him anyway, and if itās daytime, his assistants (or answering service) will tell you to call the Paramedics. He doesnāt carry the equipment in his car that you need to be saved! The Paramedics do, principally OXYGEN that you need ASAP. Your Dr. will be notified later. 3. Donāt assume it couldnāt be a heart attack because you have a normal cholesterol count. Research has discovered that a cholesterol elevated reading is rarely the cause of an MI (unless itās unbelievably high and/or accompanied by high blood pressure). MIs are usually caused by long-term stress and inflammation in the body, which dumps all sorts of deadly hormones into your system to sludge things up in there. Pain in the jaw can wake you from a sound sleep. Letās be careful and be aware. The more we know the better chance we could survive to tell the tale.ā
Reblog, repost, Facebook, tweet, pin, email, morse code, fucking carrier pigeon this to save a life! I wish I knew who the author was. Iām definitely not the OP, actually think it might be an old chain email or even letter from back in the day. The version I saw floating around Facebook ended with āmy cardiologist says mail this to 10 friends, maybe youāll save one!ā And knew this was way too interesting not to pass on.
snopes.com says this oneās true.
Save a lifeāReblog.
Female heart attacks are much different, and most people donāt know it!
This is so much more helpful than the fucking lists that basically describe everything that happens during a really nasty panic attack and then tell you to go seek help as if you donāt have an anxiety disorder that does this to you on a regular basis and can afford to go to the emergency room.
Auto-reblog.
Many women have silent heart attacks as well, where there are no symptoms at all until BAM! Then it happens.
As a formerly (mostly) healthy person who is now dealing with post-covid heart issues, this was tremendously helpful to read. Reblog, save a life.
Important for all genders so you can recognize other symptoms in yourself and others.

In Artist Adrian Brandonās Incomplete Portraits, A Year of Life Equals One Minute of Color
When Adrian Brandon starts to color a portrait, he sets a timer. For his rendering of Breonna Taylor, the clock is set to 26 minutesāfor George Floyd, 46 minutes, for Tony McDade, 38, and for Aiyana Stanley Jones, just seven. āWhen the alarm sounds, I am hit with a wave of emotions ranging from anger, to deep sadness, to hopelessness, to feeling lucky that I am still here,ā he says.
The Brooklyn-based artist is working on Stolen, a series of partially filled-in depictions of Black people murdered by police. Each portrait remains incomplete as Brandon only colors one minute for each year of the subjectās life that was cut short. āAside from being able to give the viewer a visual of the various ages affected by police violence, the timer creates a lot of anxiety for me as the artist,ā he says, wondering, āāWhen is the timer going off?ā āWill I be able to finish this eye?ā āDamn, I havenāt even gotten to the lips yet.āā In a note to Colossal, Brandon expanded on the project:
Although this anxiety may seem minor in that the consequences for me are very low, it does really have an effect on me. Anxiety is a feeling that black people are far too familiar with, and to experience that feeling while illustrating these portraits allows each piece to feel like a performance. A lot of Black people are forced to live with this anxiety and accept it as part of our every day. But these feelings build up and are exhausting. I shouldnāt have to do a prayer every time I see police pursuing a Black person in the streets. I shouldnāt feel anxious when the police are talking to a person of color. I shouldnāt feel so damn anxious that I remove my hat and jewelry when the cops pull me over. I shouldnāt feel so anxious that I would second guess calling the police if I ever needed to. This series is pulling me in, in ways that art has never done.
Brandon has been sharing deeper insights behind the portraits, in addition to timelapse videos, on Instagram.
āConsensual sexā is just sex. To say that implies that there is such a thing as ānon consensual sexā, which there isnāt. Thatās rape. That is what it needs to be called. There is only sex or rape. Do not teach people that rape is just another type of sex. They are two very separate events. You wouldnāt say ābreathing swimmingā and ānon breathing swimmingā, you say swimming and drowning.
Reblogging this a second time
important as hell
Young Black boy killed during Protests by White Supremacist!!!
Black Protester Shot to Death Outside Omaha Bar
A young black protester was shot dead outside a bar in Omaha as unrest across the nation engulfed the Nebraska city, by white supremacist Jake Gardner.
The victim was identified as 22-year-old James Scurlock, whose father called for justice as the city braced for another night of chaos.
āLast night I lost a son, my wife lost a son, my kids lost a brother,ā the grieving dad, who has the same name, told reporters at the Malcolm X Memorial Foundation Visitors Center, āHis daughter lost a father. All because he decided to protest against racism.ā
Unfortunetly, Prosecutors in Omaha, Nebraska, said Monday that the white bar owner will not face charges because in their minds āvideo evidence shows he acted in self defenseā even though he had aimed the gun to a crowd of unarmed protesters and James only got involved to protect anyone form getting shot, resulting in losing his life, as both videos here show: video1/video2
The murderer, Jake Gardner, also owns 2 bars one of which was closed down because of an outpour of reviews stating they woulf often refuse service to black people and were known as violent racists. His other bar seems to be having the same issues.
HOW YOU CAN HELP: Call county Attorney Don Kleine and Mayor Stotgert. Demand justice and demand Jake Gardner be held responsible for the murder!!

TAKE NOTES AND DONT IGNORE! These are crucial if we are going to continue protests
the dynamic between heinz doofenschmirtz and perry the platypus would probably come off as v romantic and gay if they were two people in a similar age range rather than a dude and a platypus. no i dont ship them but think about it. villainous monologues are already a very romantic and gay thing in itself (donāt question me on this you know im right). listening to somebody ramble excitedly about something theyāre proud of is even more romantic and cute af. also doofensmirtz is already gay anyway. the only thing preventing this from becoming Peak Gay is the fact that perry is strictly professional and also a platypus. thanks for coming to my ted talk
āPerry is strictly professional and also a platypusā
I love the fact that āprofessionalā is the first reason and āplatypusā is the second, because this is extremely plausible for Perry.
āYeah no I canāt fuck Iām on dutyā.
Did you know that
1.Doofenshmirtz isnāt evil anymore, allowing Perry to date him
2.Romance betweet animal/human isnāt frowned upon in the Dwampyverse
we even got humans falling in love with inanimate objects, albeit played for laughs
one of Doofenshmirtzā dates ditched him for a whale
we are talking about a universe where this is canon
for godās sake
Look, Iām not that knowledgeable about Phineas and Ferb lore (although Iām very glad that my post resonated with the Gay Scientists Dating Tired Platypuses fandom) but what, pray tell, the fuck is going on? am i having a stroke? im willing to accept the teacher falling in love with her desk because language teachers just are like that but is this nerd about to bang an ice cone?? hello?????
Itās the ice cream machine, and her name is Carla
Let us also pop bottles for the time Doofenshmirtz had to help his ex-thwarty callās current nemesis become desirable for punching again.Ā
I thought Perry was with the Panda?
Thatās a funny history actually.Peter the Panda is also dating his respective nemesis,he even got to met his parents
āāour boy is all grown upāāĀ āāwhy is he a panda bearāā
had me crying
I think there was a scene where Peter and Perry were having dinner together at a fancy restaurant. But that was before Doofenshmirtz stopped being evil.
what the fuck is going on in Phineas and Ferb
@deenalloh you have to watch milo murphyās law season 2 to know whatās going on with Doofenshmirtz life.He stopped being evil to commit to his future self: āāProfessor Timeāā inventor of time-travel and a public figure.
and he is trying to be a good guy now
also thereās 2 more time lines where he ends up good
1.Science teacher
2. O.W.C.A agent (The OWCA Files)
this universe is big and vast and doesnāt end at Phineas and Ferb
Okay but saying that just because some people in that universe are in love with animals/inanimate objects doesnāt mean itās normal.
I mean, in our universe, someone wanted to marry the Eiffel Tower.
yeah..but you see..thereās this wonderful thing in cartoons that real life doesnāt have and its animals being actual sentient/anthropomorphic. So,you canāt compare our life with a cartoon ship in this case
Also Perry is arguably one of the smartest characters on both shows when it comes to deductive reasoning, common sense, and social intelligence. He could tell just by looking at a room exactly what happened there a few hours ago. He can problem-solve on the fly, and does so very often. He has basic engineering skills (or at least, ābasicā for this universe, which is kinda masterful for our universe), and can communicate complex thoughts to others despite being physically incapable of speaking English (he even knows ASL!) To claim that Perry the Platypus is incapable of providing consent simply because he isnāt human is a disservice to his character. And honestly, if weāre going by the anthropological definition of āhumanā (bipedal, opposable thumbs, ability to communicate complex thought), then he is by all means āhuman.ā Heās just⦠A Human Platypus. ā¦?
What the fuck became of my post
Also Doof is legally an Ocelot
Logan that only raises more questions on an already strange post
Itās canon. In the OWCA Files. Him legally being an ocelot is what allows him to be an agent.
What the FUCK
Yeah, in one part of his long, tragic backstory, he was abandon and raised by ocelots
I was wondering when someone was gonna bring up the ocelot thing
@looney-mooney I agree with this vit thereās one thing, even if Perry has amazing deductive reasoning he has to at least fall to one trap. Thatās just the law of nature.
@oceanic-panic-panic bold of you to assume that Perry doesnāt let himself get trapped on purpose at least 2/3 of the time. Perry always escapes the traps. And he always waits for Doofenshmirtz to finish monologuing before escaping from them. Itās part of their routine, something they both expect: Perry bursts in, gets trapped, patiently listens to doofās rant of the day, escapes the trap, fights his nemesis, and blows up the Inator. Whenever this routine is broken, they work to maintain it anyway - I can think of at least like 3 instances where Perry purposefully, politely traps himself, and several more where Doofenshmirtz gets impatient and sets Perry free from the trap himself so they can fight.
Perry getting trapped isnāt a sign of some intellectual folley - itās a sign of his incredible problem-solving skills that he can escape them so easily, and a sign of his social intelligence that he knows to politely wait until his nemesis is ready to stop venting and start fighting.
But why does Perry need to be trapped for his nemesis to vent? Easy. Doofenshmirtz is a victim of severe child abuse, and needs to feel as though heās somewhat in control of the situation before allowing himself to be vulnerable. Perry being trapped makes him feel safe, and Perry catches on to this. Itās an intricate social dance that none of his coworkers have mastered, the ability to communicate with and accomidate for a villain with special needs. And though it takes the whole summer, they eventually donāt even need the traps, because Perry makes Heinz feel safe.
I mean, back on the Peter the Panda line, being a nemesis was always supposed to be analogous to being in a relationship anyway. I think of this way more as an āarranged relationship turns to true loveā story than an āenemies to loversā one.
āāYou probably look at Perry the Platypus and me and think itās a match made in heaven. But it wasnāt always this way. Back in the day, O.W.C.A. assigned agents willy-nilly, with no regard for personality conflicts or basic compatibility issues ⦠like a bad blind date!
Why, when I first met Perry the Platypus, I didnāt even know what kind of an animal he was. Whoās ever heard of a teal platypus?! And I gotta tell you, he got on my last nerve ⦠always staring at me, judging me. You know how he is.
Well, I was ready to call it quits. I even called Major Monogram to see if I could get another nemesis assigned. Something a little less semiaquatic. But thank goodness, Francis said to give it a little more time to see if things could work themselves out. And you know what? They did!
Now I wouldnāt trade my nemesis for anyone in the world. Oh, sure, he still infuriates me and I try to eliminate him on a daily basis, but thatās just what I do.
So, if your first encounter with your mortal foe isnāt perfect, donāt despair! It gets better ⦠usually.āā
Iād say both are correct
Me knowing almost nothing about Phineas and Ferb but reading this entire post anywayĀ
man i fucking love this long ass post about why doofenshmirtz should be able to date perry the platypus.
I forgot the theme of this post so many times until it was brought back up š
i almost fucking gagged laughing so hard
ITāS A CHUMBY BUMBY

Things I like about this decal on a restaurant window: -the insane orange waiter -that heās carrying his plates in the air like a strongman -the couple looks like this isnāt the first time heās done this, but itās easier to just let it happen at this point. -the sign says PASTA as if heās screaming it like a frankenstein -but heās holding a plate of an entire chicken and a plate of wine glasses -thereās three wine glasses -oneās for him.
When ppl kno about ur depression and they randomly ask āare you okay? How are you doing?ā In that special voice
Whats up u depressed bastard
@spanish speakers te amo feels weird to say??????
TE AMO! IS TOO! INTIMATE!! maybe if you say it quickly and in a jokey way its ok but in a serious talk??? it feels too much!!!!!!!
āi love youā is NOTHING compared to te amo. i love you feels like a kiss on the check and te amo feels like fucking marriage.Ā
#I have like a whole thing on saying te amo to anyone
YEA. i had a relationship with someone and she dropped theĀ āte amoā super quicky and i was likeā¦ā¦ā¦ā¦āthats ok, thank you, but im gonna be honest w youā¦.iām not saying te amo until i really feel itā thats how serious it is.Ā
te amo IS very serious, very deep, very intimate. when you want to tell someone that you love them without it being massive, the term you want isĀ te quiero
cant believe no one had contributed this
Same for German imho?!??? Ich liebe dich is THE confession. You donāt drop it in a joking way.
It might just be me, but I wouldnāt randomly pepper ŠÆ Š»ŃŠ±Š»Ń ŃŠµŠ±Ń into conversation either. It feels⦠too much.
Maybe it is the English one that is weird
I tell my close friends āI love youā all the time. I think Itās different if I were to say āIām in love with youā.
In these non-English languages, do parents not tell their childrenĀ āI love you?ā Or is it only romantic?
Oh, Iām monolingual but I know a bit about this one! :D
So, in a lot of languages, there are multiple verbs that mean, āto love,ā which are each situational, while, in English, we derive the meaning through context
Like, āTe quiero,ā refers to love for friends and family, aka platonic love, while , āTe amo,ā or, āAi shiteru,ā in Japanese, is so achingly tender and romantic that you might as well write the other person a receipt for your heart, because itās theirs now
At some point, English did have multiple verbs for, āto love,ā but eventually English speakers decided, āto hell with it, I only want 1 broad term for these big mushy feelings,ā because we hate having multiple words for things almost as much as we hate punctuation
TL;DR: cultures that are non-English speaking do tell their kids they love them, they just have multiple words that mean, āTo love,ā and English is the odd man out because it got tired of that and went
