I think that vampires are not doomed to be lonely. They are doomed to be misunderstood.
What I'm talking about. Louis falls in love with Lestat, because he finally feels that he's seen and understood. And it happens (at least partially) because Lestat can read his mind. See all his hidden parts and inner conflicts. And he loves what he sees.
Vampires can share the Gift with chosen persons who they want to spend an eternity with. Lestat loves to understand Louis, to fulfill his unspoken wishes, and Louis loves this unique understanding with Lestat.
But makers cannot read mind of their fledglings.
And that's when the problems begin.
Lestat can't really understand Louis' moral conflict, can't really understand the problems that come because of racism. Louis doesn't know Lestat's story, all the things he endured, and it's too hard for Lestat to tell him.
Actually, they don't really understand themselves, not talking about each other.
And all the things happens because they can't just talk.
And that's why I love their ending in season 2. Because there Louis finally says his best words, that Lestat maybe didn't know he wants to hear the most:
"I came to thank you. For the Gift you offered me. The Gift I denied".
"I wanted you to suffer because I was suffering".
That's how words should work for them.
And Lestat (just think, Lestat) becomes speechless.
That's how they don't need words anymore.
The vampires' doom is not loneliness. The vampires' doom is to find emotional connection without mind connection. Basically, to be humans.
