Gooseworx closed her asks before I could ask my questions so I'm just gonna share my ideas here idc.

1)when we have the shot of jax cycling through different outfits the one that really stuck out to me was her in military fatigues.

I don't think she was in the military at any point but I feel it would make sense she'd try/want to just as an escape from feeling her gender, trying to become this ultra masc gi to escape her feelings. Maybe it's also why she was was so familiar with guns in ep 6 (but that could also be just cartoon logic. I feel like theres arguments for both ways.

2) I know goose said early on that theres no way back from abstracting but like... What if no one figured out how to fully do it.

She revealed yesterday that the reason scratch was the first abstraction was because Caine went into his brain and tried to make him happy. Which is at the end of the day is basically a digital lobotomy.

After this Caines solution was put them somewhere dark and leave them alone, which could be seen as institutionalisation/being sent to a mental asylum. Somewhere where there's the nominal idea of care/help, but in reality you're just locking mentally ill people away in padded cells to protect themselves and others.

Now with Jax we see compassionate care. building a safe, non restrictive area in the circus tent, providing freedom and the opportunity to interact with others in the aquarium, and compassion and care from people like pomni and kinger. I don't know if it would return them to themselves, but it's least a better form of care than what Caine did.

(to be clear I don't judge Caine for what he did. I have an idea that by training him on happy ideas like a carnival he learnt everyone should be happy, and when he tried to *make* someone happy and it went so badly he committed to never doing that again.

Also for transparency I've never been sectioned/in a mental care facility so I can't I'm kinda talking from accounts of others and stuff I've seen/read about, so apologies if this is inaccurate or based on bad info)

Thinking about abby and suzie (irl pomni and ragatha meeting when Suzie is looking at an abandoned building for real estate and runs into abby doing some urban exploration, and she tells her about structural weaknesses and saves her from a bad investment.

Suzie invites her to a fancy drink spot as thanks, and start talking, feeling so comfortable with each other, like they've known each other for ages.

Before they know it they're talking almost every day. Suzie talking about her horses and people she's met selling houses, abby bemoaning her more annoying colleagues, and all Che close shaves and interesting things she'd seen exploring. They spend time with each others friends, always sat next to each other, always just a little closer than two people who are just friends. Their friends say nothing, but share looks and knowing smirks.

And when the two lay holding each other, warm in their embrace despite the sweltering summer heat, they'll never know that somewhere else, in a world of code and numbers and digital wonders, they still found each other, cared for each other, and hold on to each other just as tightly.
